So maybe there's hope then...

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

I heard about this three days ago so it's not a joke. These things just happen for a reason. It's probably for the best. Besides without Inafune what's left for Mega man anyway?

C'mon, why'd they cancel this game, instead of that other Megaman online game (Megaman Online)? Megaman Universe definitelly had more promise; Megaman Online's art direction and gameplay (which is derived from the X series) makes me wanna cry with rage and sadness.

But...I don't want Megaman to die...Megaman X was my first ever video game...

There's still Mega man Legends 3 to watch out for. So far anyway. Unless that gets canned too. I'm losing alot of hope for Mega man ever since Inafune left.

Get this: Megaman Legends 3 may be cancelled because the developers think "Megaman isn't popular in America"

Uhm.. I think it is. Everyone knows who Megaman is or will recognize him if you show someone a picture of him. I don't know where they got that from. I feel like it's an excuse to just cancel the game just because Inafune left and he was the main reason the project even started.

Did they mean specifically that the Mega Man Legends series wasn't popular in America? Because they'd at least have an arguable point there.

If they meant that Mega Man in general isn't popular here, though, that's pure insanity.

From what I've read, they meant "Megaman" as a whole. They could have meant Megaman Legends. It'd make more sense if it was for the reason of Megaman Legends not being popular. Yet, the support is really strong, so I don't know why they are considering it... Guess they want tons and tons of people to join the ML3 community online.

Also if you compare it to Japan Megaman is waaaaay more popular there than here in the States but than again video games in general are. I mean he has a cartoon there and action figures so they could be basing it off of that.

As for the legend series I cant say since I never played them.

Megaman used to have one of those Battle Network cartoons here as well. It was on for a year or two I think. Can`t be that unpopular.

Only way the Mega Man series even has a pulse right now, as of April 5th 2011 is by way of the Mega Man Zero Collection on DS last year, and Mega Man X being announced for Virtual Console release. Scary and troubling if you're a fan of the series (which I have been since 1988). Still nothing on Mega Man V, VI and VII coming to VC. Hope the 3DS VC brings with it the old Mega Man games on Game Boy! On the bright side, hard to see Capcom coming straight out and saying that the series is flat out dead period. At worst, it'd just lie dormant like Strider or Viewtiful Joe until they have the desire to make another Mega Man game.

Edit: Thought I'd add that I wish Capcom would bring Mega Man 64 to VC also! Never have played it, for some reason (so much on N64 that's not come out... why the Hell is it so ignored for VC releases???).

Because a lot of us who did play Megaman 64 still missed out on Legends 2. And the only way it should be rereleased is both Legends games (and Misadventures of Tron!) for one 3DS game. Especially since what I remember reasing on Legends 2 made it obvious there was a legit continuing story with the whole trilogy.

Besides, N64 games being ignored on VC is nothing new.

Megaman 64 is awesome...as long as you don't expect it to be too much like other Megaman games.

What a shame, I was looking forward to the new game. I'm not expecting this to be the beginning of the end for the Mega Man series, thought. Yuji Naka, one of the creators of Sonic, left Sega and Sonic the Hedgehog is still kicking and running around (It's improved in recent years). Kenji Infanue leaving is not going to spell the death of Mega Man, I can assure you that.

@kkslider: For the most part, the N64 does get ignored, but to be fair, they have release one just a month ago, so it's not dead yet.

I don't know, I remember seeing Mega Man Legends having a greatest hits version on the PS1 so it must have pulled respectable sales here.

Right, I'm just saying it's a point they could theoretically argue as justification for cancellation. Even if MM Legends sold like hotcakes, the argument that the series hasn't sold well since the PS1 days is a fair one. Where as if they tried to argue that Mega Man as a whole hasn't made money for generations, well...that's obviously bunk as the very recent cross platform success of 9 and 10 proves it instantly false.

Again, I'm just trying to feel out their thought process here. They cancelled the game, after all. Not me!
