Topic: Marvel Vs Capcom Series vanished

So, the whole MvC Series is basicly no more. Capcom pulled MvC 3 and 2 from all digital stores and stopped producing physical copys. That includes DLC for MvC3 that is now forever lost.
The game series now basicly vanishes. We already had something like that happen a while ago with Tatsunoko Vs Capcom.
Is capcom really so stupid to not be able to form longer lasting contracts or form contracts that enables them to use others copyrightet material but gives them full controll over the finished product.

Especially the DLC part with MvC is a sad display why exactly DLC as its handled today is a really bad idea.

What do you think about capcoms latest attempts to loose even the last bits of their fanbase ?

This is one of those times that I'm glad not all games have gone digital yet. I can still get MvC3 for my Vita.

But yeah, Capcom sucks. I suppose I should get Ace Attorney 5 before they decide to yank that too for some unknown reason.

It might not be Capcom's fault this time around. It might be Disney who now own the rights to Marvel. The contract could have expired and Disney decided not to renew.

I mean Capcom is not at the top of my list for best companies, but I wouldn't be so quick to judge them on this one.

Disney and Capcom probably would have renewed the contract, if Capcom had more than $150 million in the bank. My guess is that with Capcom's financial issues, they simply couldn't afford to renew the contract. Disney might have raised the price from last time because of the success of just about everything Marvel-related these days.

Yea, I'm pretty sure Capcom didn't have enough cash to renew the contract. Too bad. Guess we won't see another MvC game for a long time, assuming Capcom is still around...

Licensed games have a limited lifespan as digital releases whatever the game or whoever the companies are. Thats not about one company sucking, its just the nature of licensed games.

And who is Dual Destinies licensed from that it would one day be pulled from the eShop?

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

I didn't get this game yet, because I thought Capcom would have made Super Ultra Mega Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 Turbo: Definitive Edition. But seeing as that's not going to happen, now it's the best time to get it for the 360.

Also, I think the physical copies will become rare, just like Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 was once before.

I made Sheldon & Mr. Randoms back on Flipnote Hatena, now i'm a kangaroo mod that has a funko pop collection!

I'm not keen politics since that stuff is spooky, I'd rather watch SpongeBob over Fox News anyways!

Capcom simply doesn't have the money to renew the licence - this also happened shorty after MvsC2 was released I believe (though nobody noticed because there was no such thing as downloadable games). I assume the Marvel licence is extremely dear and it's not worth keeping just for the sake of digital sales - it would be like paying the insurance for a car nobody drives.

Your logic is flawed. It is not just Capcom. All of Marvel franchises is to be removed XBLA & PSN which include those from Activision. The X-Men Arcade game has also been removed from PSN along with an unrelated license, the Simpson Arcade game. All take downs are probably due to a license expiration or dispute.

I recommend downloading any licensed game you're interested in in at least one years time since you never know when licensed games will be pulled. You might want to buy Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara and DuckTales Remastered while you still can.
