@Wiiloveit Did you have to censor b*gger? I had no idea it was an offensive word. America really needs to diversify its naughty words. We hardly have sh*t to curse with.
As Adam Corolla said, Brits need to stop using the "C-word" for everything. They are taking the sting out of it when you pull it out on your cheating ex.
I don't use profanity except for dang, darn, and other words. Oh,and Sean Aaron are you or another staff member going to put the Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days E3 trailer on Nintendo Life, it's awesome!
I don't do trailers, so that's someone else you need to bug -- I suggest a separate thread in the appropriate area to raise the profile.
And agreed the c-word is over used, but it still packs a wallop. The t-word is much more casual here unlike the States, and "fag" refers to cigarettes (referring to the real meaning of "faggot" as a bundle of kindling; it's also a kind of meatball as well weirdly enough).
Wouldn't OMG be pretty offensive? It sound btw very pre-teenish-girlish. -OMG NEW SHOES! Wouldn't god or religulous people get offended by that?
And btw who doesn't use cussing when in bed with someone else, seems proper there!
I don't know if god would be offended by the word "god," but I don't know can anyone rational can be offended by that. God is a pretty generic term; yes you can use it with a capital "G," but if I say "goddammit!" I could be asking for any one of hundreds of gods to damn something. Seems out of order to get upset when I'm invoking a Sumerian deity that no one worships any more.
I do agree with the latter statement that certain words said in certain places can heighten certain moments.
dude the gay society does not reclaim words like fag , where do you get your information from? also, if you are gay and sensitive do not buy a ps3 or call of duty, because they bash people like crazy. most games i play online are full of biggots when you think about it. can i go one day without hearing "dude, you're a fu*king fag"? it's played out people expand your vocabulary please.

I was going to skip that one, but I don't regard the use of "gay" to mean "lame" to be terribly nice myself; nor do I regard racial epithets worthy of reclaming.
Swearing within a group of people who can take it in context, for example whilst in the pub with your mates is ok, however you wouldn't go into a public space, i.e. a shop and start swearing for everybody including children to hear. And as this is a public forum open to all ages excessive use of bad language is inappropriate. It isn't hard to censor yourself, i swear whilst with friends but if im talking to my mum or granny it is impulsive to talk without swearing. Oh and the chat on Cod4 etc. is ridiculous, kids playing this are going to hear all kinds of crazy $4!¥
I've alays found homophobia rather odd in gamers. It's hardly like pressing a few buttons on time is the most heterosexual thing you can do. When people have this attitude when playing the cartoony games it becomes even more surreal. I've never really understood the male pride attached to playing pool either.
Of course it's wrong to take the Lords name in vain. It's one of the 10 commandments.
True, but I don't believe the Holy Bible says God's name is "God" does it? In fact it's something you're not supposed to pronounce, so problem solved; I also don't think typing counts, but I guess we can discuss that in the Bible study group forum.
Apologies if you were taking the piss, the internet and all that...
I'm probably the one who edits the most swearing out of posts, because as Stevie put it (pretty f***ing well if I may say) you wouldn't swear so loudly and vociferously in public. Although our community is mostly made up of older gamers (I use the phrase advisedly!) the fact remains any Nintendo fan of any age could find us, and I don't think having swearing on display is such a good thing.
That's not to say I censor everything of course - there's no end of posts I just leave be. Some people need censoring more than others though, of course - I'm glaring burningly at you, Machu.
I agree that the forums should be suitable for all. In fact, the reason I rarely use YouTube in front of my family is because of the unexpected swearing that can occur in any video, at any time, and in every-other comment. At least they now warn you of bad language in their "shows" and "movies", and there's the option to censor profanity in the comments.
Here's an idea for y'alls: rather than remove or advise against profanity, why not just alter the code of the website, so that words change to "funk" or "poo" instead of the f and s bombs?
