For the record, I'm probably not gonna complain about people saying any game is overrated, so long as you don't say something like..."Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing is Overrated", without even a hint of irony. Or maybe "Lufia: The Ruins of Lore is Overrated", since it's the least liked entry in a series most people haven't played. Otherwise, there are different reasons a game could be overrated, so it's not really worth arguing over it, IMO.
But I could easily call out a bunch of people on their underrateds. It's like a game can't be popular enough for some people...Super Mario 3D World? Really? The game everyone was hailing as the Wii U savior is underrated? What, were we supposed to worship it as the second coming or something?
Overrated: Sonic Adventure 2, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Pokemon X, Paper Mario Sticker Star, Mario Kart 7, NES Mega Man games, Sonic Heroes, Super Mario Bros. 3
Underrated: Wario Ware D.I.Y (does anyone even have this game?), Super Mario 3D World, Luigi's Mansion 2: Dark Moon
I respectfully disagree on some of these. For one, most people I know seem to hate Sticker Star and Sonic Heroes a lot. As for the other games, with the exception of the NES Mega Man games, Super Mario 3, and Sonic Adventure 2 aren't necessarily over or under rated; they're just good games that people talk about, since a good chunk of them are relatively new.

I love these forums because i find great games to try out i would have never remembered! For me off top of my head:
Underrated: Crystalis, Killer 7, Contra 4, Lost Odyssey
I can't believe the world forgot about Contra 4 and Killer 7...I remember when the latter was the "original" artsy game, proof that a game doesn't need gameplay to be "fun" so long as it works with the story, which in this case was incredibly experimental. Obviously your milage may vary, but it used to be a game everyone had to at least try.
And I just got Crystalis, though I've played it before. Definitely a good game as far as early action-RPGs are concerned.
The Lost Odyssey I need to replay. I remember it had a really boring battle system, though, not to mention terrible pacing. But everyone else seems to really dig it. I never did get too far before, so maybe it'll get better?

I have WarioWare DIY! Its alright, not enough levels like the previous entries but making ur own levels was very fun.

I found Epic Yarn underrated, it had ton's of secrets, replay value, and a awesome art style. It was pretty easy though.

Overrated:
A Link To the Past - I just couldn't get into it. I dunno why. People talked about how the short tutorial makes it easy to get into, but I just got derailed by other games in my backlog.
Super Metroid - Same as ALTTP. Just couldn't get into it. I played Prime first so maybe that had an effect on it.
Underrated:
Dungeons of Dredmor - A relatively unknown indie studio made a relatively unknown dungeon crawler. I'm a big fan of indie studios, and as far as they go this game was pretty good.
Surgeon Simulator 2013 - Another small indie game, much like most of my steam library, but it was pretty fun. It's good for some laughs with friends. Plus I can now say I've dropped QTips into a poor guys head.
My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

@Nintendo_Ninja It could have to do with being an RPG on a console that had very few RPGs, and that it was a novel idea. I like the game, but find it kind of dull at times. Later games, mainly The Thousand Year Door, expanded upon the first game's ideas nicely.

I just dislike how fans of the original dismiss the rest of the series compared to the original.

Underrated: Both Lunar games (especially the PSOne remasters, which are superb), Dragon Seeds, Monster Rancher 2, Driver, and Retro Game Challenge come to mind here. I'm sure I can think of more.
