In every systems library, there are games that are either praised way to much, or not praised enough. It seems everyone has an opinion about a game being under or over rated. So I made this thread for discussion about any game on any console or handheld. Unlike other overrated/underrated forum post, this is about any console or handheld and not a specific one.
Most of the games I could say for overrated or underrated are way too obvious and overdone so I'll avoid those.
Overrated: Vanquish, most cover shooter focused games in general, any main Resident Evil except 4 (which makes me terrified to play 6...)
Underrated: Kirby's Dreamland 2, the 3D Bomberman games (or at least 64 and Generations), Star Fox 64, practically every great 3rd party game on Nintendo made after 2008
Underrated:
Guild Wars 2 - This game is constantly under attack by anyone who's ever played an MMO. It's actually a pretty fun game as a newcomer to the GW franchise.
Overrated:
Ocarina of Time - Anyone who says this is the best game of all time needs to play more games. This isn't even in the top Zelda.
My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.
Underrated:

Guild Wars 2: Fantastic. Just as good as WoW, if not better. Not to mention no subscription fee.
Ocarina of Time: Back in the day, this game had everything including story. Nowadays, it doesn't hold up as well in any category besides story.

I think 2D Metroid is overrated as a whole. What's so special? Sure it's super fun, but compared to 3D Metroid, it isn't as good.
Animal Crossing Wild World: I played Animal Crossing City Folk first, so it was underwhelming. Plus, I hated sharing a house.

Good call on Beyond Good and Evil, and Sphinx was fun as well. Also on Last of Us. I would probably agree with you on the rest of the overrated list if I ever played them. Can't knock stuff if I won't try it.
Overrated:Battlefield,CoD,Sonic Adventure 1 and 2
Underrated:Sonic and Black Knight,Sonic and the Secret Rings,The Wonderful 101

I haven't played Last of Us, Watch Dogs or Assasin's Creed, but I agree Kingdom Hearts and Minecraft are overrated. They're both fine, but with how much fans rave about them I was expecting them to be AMAZING!!!!11 I thought they were both just OK. I also think FFVII is overrated. It's funny, because I actually like the game, but obsessive fans push it a little too far (I feel the same about the Persona series).
I also totally agree that ZombiU is underrated. It has a lot of problems, but the tension is absolutely perfect. I've never played a game where I was so relieved to get to a save point!
I also feel like Phantasy Star IV and Lost Odyssey are underrated. They're just two great JRPGs that were over shadowed by bigger names (Final Fantasy mostly, in both cases).
@SkywardLink98 and @Nintendo_Ninja - I agree with OOT even as far as saying it has bored me to tears after less than an hour on almost a dozen playthrough attempts.
Just a few (3DS ones) off the top of my head... Underrated: Kid Icarus: Uprising, Etrian Odyssey (IV at least) Overrated: Bravely Default, A Link Between Worlds, Fire Emblem: Awakening
Underrated: Etrian Odyssey, Fire Emblem Sacred Stones, Antichamber, The Swapper, Rayman Legends
Overrated: All NES games, The entire Paper Mario Franchise, Ocarina of Time (good, but not the best game ever) Super Mario 64
NOT Overrated: Bravely Default, Chrono Trigger, Mario Galaxy (NOT 2)
Forgot my beloved Etrian Odyssey, so right. But, but, but ALL NES games? Dragon Warrior I-IV were the shizzle and I must certainly to that "Hurumph"!! But I know nothing of Antichamber or The Swapper. Google search initiating.
