Just doing some survey; do you guys play video game by beating one game before playing other games, or play any game you want to play at the time? for example,1) playing 'pokemon' until you finished the game before starting 'fire emblem'. or 2} play pokemon for few hour, then play fire emblem when you feel like to.

Games like Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros., Forza 4, Tropical Freeze, or Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit I'll play whenever I'm in the mood to relax for 45 minutes or so. Those games are "my old stand bys" in other words that I can return to at any time without having to give much effort or thought.

However, when I'm playing a new game for the first time I won't start a new "gaming project" until that one is finished. Perfect example: I am currently playing Bravely Default for the first time. I'm 50 hours in and absolutely loving it. When a game is still a first time experience for me I like to devote myself to it entirely before moving on to something new. I picked up Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster yesterday, but I won't start it until after I've played Bravely Default through to the true ending.

I look at it like reading a book. I wouldn't read two new books at the same time: I'd finish one, then read the other. Gaming is the same thing for me.

Cool idea for a thread

My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."

I play a lot of games at once. I'm trying to clear my backlog currently by playing one game at a time, but games without a defined campaign (Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros., etc.) will get play time regardless of what I'm focusing on if I'm in the mood (or if my friends are).

For how long I play depends on a lot of things. This school year, I've been living with my parents and commuting to University, so it's harder to set aside time for games. I have school, homework, work, commuting time, and sleeping to do... On weekends, I'm usually working or resting from a long week. When I was on campus though, it was nothing for me to spend hours on a game (I once played Xenoblade Chronicles for 10 hours straight). Lately though, It's maybe been 45 minutes to 90 minutes a session.

I see it more like watching multiple series on Netflix. I'll watch a few series at a time, but once I get really, really involved in one, I'll see it through to the end before continuing one of the others.

I like this thread already!

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

I'm on YouTube.

I promise to not derail threads. Request from theblackdragon

Ah yes the University years. I lived on campus the 6 years I was away at school, and I made the decision to leave my consoles at home so that they wouldn't distract me. I brought my DS Lite with me for Mario Kart DS, and my GBA SP for Tetris DX. Other than that I was only gaming when I was home for the summer or during Xmas Break. I did, however, play lots of Guitar Hero and Rock Band with my friends on the weekends. Good times.

Mostly all games I play for around 1-2 hours take a break and go back to it throughout the day.

I play whatever game I feel like and have the time for. I basically think what I have to do in what game and see if at the time I can acomplish it, if that makes sense. Like for example I have 30 minutes to kill ok I can run a few races in MK 8. Or I got 2 hours to kill I can play an episode of The Walking Dead.

It depends my schedule is like this.

WiiU
Metroid Prime 2
Followed by Metroid Prime 3
Followed by Wonderful 101
(Followed by Xenoblade Chronicles X eventually)

3DS
At the same time I'm doing
Kid Icarus (Mix of playing through the chapters for the first time and getting the treasure hunt done)
Pokemon Shuffle (Recently completed)
MvsDK Tipping Stars (Level creation when I feel like it)
Animal Crossing (Getting 100 fish a day when I have time for the goal of the gold fishing badge. Past this I have a 3 year or so plan to completing everything)
And queued up I have
Smash Bros (Getting all custom moves/hats, all other achievements have been fulfilled. I plan to start this campaign when I finish the current Animal Crossing goal)

So for WiiU it seems to be one at a time and for 3DS it's multitasking.

I usually play one longer game, and go back and forth between a few games I don't need to devote much time to when I want to play something else. I don't like starting multiple games that I'll play for more than 30 minutes at a time because it can be hard to find the time for both, and that makes it harder to enjoy them.

Depends on the game and if I like it or not and what's going on in my life.
Recently I've gotten into this slump of starting games and not finishing them. I'm trying to tackle my backlog, and it's not working out so well. But when something really has my attention, I focus on only playing it until I've beaten it. I'm starting to get into Infamous 2, which is surprising since I didn't like the first game very much. I'm also playing Majora's Mask 3D occasionally.

Something like Mario Kart of Smash or Mortal Kombat or Need for Speed or Fifa or whatever, I'll play those just whenever I have the desire. They're good games to play in short bursts. I'll play a few matches/rounds/races for 45 minutes, and then I'm done. Though I have been known for playing RTTS mode on MLB:The Show for hours on end.

Normally I have 2 games I play regularly about evenly, unless I'm trying to progress in a particular game or it's just a newer game I'm excited to play, then its about a 2:3 ratio

If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.

I usually don't start a new game until I beat the one I'm currently playing, at least when it comes to traditional gaming devices (I'll run through a handheld game at the same time as a console game, since I usually play those during different times anyway, so they generally don't interrupt each other).

Habits are a bit different for tablet games though. If I'm playing a paid game, I won't play anything else until I'm done with it (and this'll usually count as my portable game), but when I'm just playing free stuff, I'll play two different F2P games & one truely free game at a time (I'll play that day's sessions of the two F2P games, and if I still feel the need to game after using up their playtime for the day, I'll play the truely free game for awhile).

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

I play what I want when I want, but that doesn't usually keep me from beating the games I play. I usually stay interested in a game long enough to beat it, and I've beaten most of my games without having to keep track. I started a backloggery recently, but that was more for curiosity.

At any given time, I'm probably regularly playing one game per system. I can get too lazy to switch the cartridges/CD's sometimes

Got married.

I tend to play like 8 games at a time, usually half of which I played a few hours per week, half of which I play a few hours per months.

this is a terrible idea don't do it

Usually, one game per platform (now it's Captain Toad on WiiU, Fantasy Life on 3DS and XCOM on 360).
The right mix of games makes me enjoy them more than a single deep playthrough.

Praise the Sun, and Mario too.
