I don't think it was as accident. The accident seemed to be that it wouldn't actually let you redeem the prize when you went to order.
Anyone who only achieved gold status probably didn't have enough coins to buy all those games before, so it's probably really nice for a lot of them to have the option to get them again for free. The changes this year are especially good for the gold members, because a calendar is so lame, but I honestly like both the platinum rewards more than anything that's been offered the last couple years, and maybe more than 2009's choices. The only thing I would have done differently is offer Link's Awakening DX instead of that weak Metroid II choice, and give platinum members the option to redeem two gold choices instead of a platinum reward.
The rewards are great IMO. Better than last year's pins. I'm actually having trouble picking which to go with. The cards or the posters? I have no more room for posters, but that Kid Icarus one looks great. The playing cards seem beautiful though. Are there pictures of more cards from the deck?
The main reason I'd get the posters would be for the Kid Icarus one. But the picture itself is already my computer's wallpaper and my avatar for a very short time. I think I've seen enough of it. Plus I already got the 20th anniversary Zelda poster which took up the last bit of space and it's sexier than these 3. I'll just go Wii the cards. Meh, if only I had more wall space.
Don't even bother with the free games people. Most were already offered as the monthly CN thing so kind of lame of Nintendo.
That Mario figurine was cheap. I never opened mine, but it weighed about as much as a feather, so it was obviously hollow and would probably break pretty easily. At least these rewards look like they're actually quality stuff.

Agreed, Kinkos quality poster paper is top of the line.
Since I never use cards, I'm going with the posters. I have lots of stuff on my walls, but almost all of it is just pictures I printed off from Google Images onto simple paper. So it will be nice to have some real posters, especially those featuring Pit! Only one problem, I'm moving in two months so it would be pointless to put the posters up right after I got them... Oh well, patience is a virtue!

People who got the Zelda posters with the special printing effects say they were actually really good quality, so even though they haven't specified what the special printing effects are on these posters, I'm assuming they'll be of similar high quality, and probably not something you can print off at Kinkos.
@iphys It wasn't hollow it was made of rubbery plastic. There's some real nice detail on it especially on Bowser. I don't think it will break... you should take a look at it. It's pretty good quality. The bottom stand is hollow though. If you want you can sell it on Amazon for $90 atm. At least that's what it's going for.
Also the posters are really good as well. I have the Mario ones. They look like they have some kind of gloss over them. Some have reflective areas like kinda look holographic, where it says Super Mario.
I propley going to go with the cards so I can end up not opening and saving over for a couple of years. maybe they will gain cash value/demand over the years if I leave them alone and just not open them when I get them.
Well, I didn't want the statue because it would collect dust, and as it is I have to box most of my stuff away because it just makes me too asthmatic when I go to dust stuff off. Posters I could conceivably put on my wall without having to worry about them gathering much dust. I bet the special printing effect on the Luigi's Mansion poster makes the ghosts look really cool.
