It's 2010 and yet I have to use code to use bold, underline, coloured text to place pictures etc on these forums?
The forums here are crinimally underfeatured and unfortunately a lot of topics here are absolute nonsense (Specially in general discussion)
While I get the simple look and approach to the forums considering it's a Wii based site it just feels very outdated and ugly to me.
You guys ever considered switchign to v bulletein?

Have you considered trying a different forum?I don't find it very hard to format...

Isn't the Wii itself outdated and ugly by HD standards? I guess we're on the right track! ...I jest. You raise some interesting questions, I too have noticed the forums here are missing some features I'm used to seeing on say, the Atlus forums. Still, it's a good community here, I like it, so it's no big deal to me.

Stop complaining dude, start some interesting topics instead !!!

Outdate ain't even saying the half of it- oh, it's you, Ouen. I don't even need to explain to you how pitiful these forums are.
Yeah, at least with vBulleten, the programmers here wouldn't have to make all the features from scratch(I don't think, I'll have to check their website). Honestly, it's kind of...actually, it's extremely frustrating that this site lacks tons of feature users of countless other forums take for granted. I think it's about time we updated, don't you think?
I mean, hell, we used to have a vBulletin Forum, and it was fantastic! I still go to it almost every day. Then I go back here, and it's like taking a trip through a time machine! I don't like to complain needlessly, and I know the programmers are working hard to add more features to this site, but rather than continue with it in the state it's in, couldn't we at least use another site as a temporay forum until things get up-to-date? I just saying it would alleviate a lot of headaches, I'm sure of it.
(There have been complaints about your avatar. In truth, it was crossing the line a bit. I gave you a new one until you can find one for yourself.) MOD

I like it the way it is, the codes are nice and simple. The only thing it needs is stickies.

I guess it would be helpful to update things a little, but they function alright as they are. The forums here are only as good as the users, and if you don't like what you see, change it, by making your own topics, or go somewhere else. The people who are active in the forums here like the topics (obviously, since we are the ones who come up with them) so it's not a problem

The only thing I want updated is our signatures. I'm fine with using a hyphen to bold stuff.

Considering Ant built these forums from scratch, i assume if he'd wanted to go with v bulletin before, he'd'a done so. there's lots of forums out there that still use bbcode, if not HTML in order to modify text, and still more that don't even allow the text-modifying freedoms that this forum does. i'm content. :3

I'm with Corbie on this one (and I'm a web developer myself, if that gives my credibility any boost). Forums which grant too many formatting and embedding options (and signature options) tend to turn hideous in no time, and a chore to read. You can do everything here you need to do--quote, link pictures, embed YouTube videos, basic formatting, etc--but those features are left to the user to implement using the very simple markup. This means that most posts are simply clean text, which is greatly preferable to threads full of the garbage you get when you grant users a WYSIWYG.
I also agree with Ravage that stickies would be nice, but that's one of the very few missing features that I'd want to see implemented.

What Warioswoods said. These forums reminded me of the original facebook, back when you could see nearly everything you wanted in a neat and clean layout. Now I can't find anything out about the person without digging through their farmville and mafia wars advert posts. Don't let the NLife forums become like facebook!
Stickies would be nice though.

How do you italicize, by the way? Nevermind...
