The forum's features are sufficent, but there's always room for improvement. Like some buttons that does the code formatting for you(bold, images etc), yes i'm lazy like that but really, nowadays there's not many forums who does not have that.
I agree 100% with the content though, most topics are just random nonsense from people who just want to have their name as creator on huge multi-paged topics. It's really annoying to have to filter alot to get to the good stuff.
There he goes, Firkraag. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die. - My VGscore
I'll echo what's been said. They're perfectly capable, but nothing too far beyond that. I think the forums could benefit from a cosmetic update..maybe slightly reworked screen real estate to include easier no-code access to currently coded features--something as simple as buttons that embed said code into your post. At any rate--it works and that's what's important...there's always something that could be more user friendly. I'm more than happy with the current feature set.

I'm with Corbie on this one (and I'm a web developer myself, if that gives my credibility any boost). Forums which grant too many formatting and embedding options (and signature options) tend to turn hideous in no time, and a chore to read. You can do everything here you need to do--quote, link pictures, embed YouTube videos, basic formatting, etc--but those features are left to the user to implement using the very simple markup. This means that most posts are simply clean text, which is greatly preferable to threads full of the garbage you get when you grant users a WYSIWYG.
I also agree with Ravage that stickies would be nice, but that's one of the very few missing features that I'd want to see implemented.
This. Forums with image signatures/variable text sizes/font colours get irritating to read after about 3 days. Just because you can put all your text in a bold, red, underlined Courier New, it doesn't mean you should. I like the clean, simplistic nature of here.
And maybe I'm getting old and crotchety, but now I'm beginning to agree with the mods that animated avatars range from pointless to irritating.

unfortunately a lot of topics here are absolute nonsense (Specially in general discussion)
Maybe some people like nonsense. I can't understand anything anyways, so it's nice for everyone else to be similarly confused.
And really, what did you expect? It's the internet. If you wanted all-intelligent discussion all the time, you made a poor choice. :3 [Moderated - play nice, Feenie]

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
So? What's wrong with simple systems that work? And (like PhoenixSage said), are you actually expecting INTELLIGENT conversation on the internet? That has got to be the dumbest thing I've ever -- LOL, LOL, LOOOL... (Portal reference = epic win)
Thanks given to Xkhaoz for that one avatar. Please contact me before using my custom avatar!

I like the forums, the only thing I would ever change is sticky and search, and a p.m. system. Sadly, those are hard to implement without money from users. I am more than ok with not paying money for the some of the best info on the web

I don't know if I want a bunch of sticky threads, but at least one that has tips for formatting messages. I always forget how to bold, underline, post youtube clips etc. So having that information handy and easy to find in the forums would be nice.
You all know what I'm going to say, but here goes anyway:
All this stuff is on the list. There's a lot of stuff we want to implement this year and I can assure you that revamped forums are certainly on our to-do list. Although we can't introduce every feature that's requested we do genuinely take your requests onboard and we'll do our best to get the site updated as soon as we can.
