What do you guys think of New Super Mario Bros. DS?

Enjoy the CHEESE of life.

Adam

One of the worst side-scrolling Mario games yet. Better than Galaxy though.

I am ashamed Adam.

It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!

I loved it. Too easy, but a lot of fun. And that's fine with me; I'll take fun but easy over awful but challenging any day.

I'm hoping NSMB Wii finds a better balance, though. Some challenge (apart from level-scouring to grab all the golden coins) would be nice.

I wasn't really as impressed with it as I was with most other Mario games.

It felt more like a celebration of all the other games without actually adding a lot of new features. And there was no Yoshi either.

Still a lot of fun though, but not nearly as awesome as Galaxy.

If you're not scouring the levels for the special coins (or trying to make it past Bowser as mini-mario, lol), it's a pretty fun little platformer, though a tad on the easy side. I enjoyed the 2.5D graphics style, and I liked that they added in the wall-jump as a 'new' move for Mario. The new powerups, though, I can live without to be honest; they felt kinda gimmicky... I'm not a fan of the big mushroom, the mini-mushroom is annoying at best and i only used it to get those special coins, and I hated the blue shell. Just give me my mushrooms and my fire-flowers in a Mario platformer and I'm good to go. :3

It didn't had anything new or groundbreaking but I loved it and finished it many times. There are some coind I have to find yet though. I can't wait to play it on my wii.

Noire

It was fun through the first few times, having a brand-new 2D Mario platformer, but there's not a thing special about it, and I haven't touched it in quite a while. I'm hoping the new Wii version will capture my interests much longer than this one did.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

I thought it was really good, but it is a bit dissapointing to see the same types of worlds all the time, forest, ice, desert, lava, underground etc etc.

Adding variety would be nice Nintendo. You wouldn't be straying from the original formula if you added a space or city level or something. Or even new types of enemies.

I thought it was a great game. Too short but the mini games make up for that some what

@Dragon
The Blue Shell is the reason I enjoyed the game, haha. I loved trying to beat levels without coming out of the shell. It was the one way to make it challenging other than mini-Mario, which just isn't fun for me. Mega Mario is the worst. But I'd love to see the blue shell (not the Mario Kart item, never the Mario Kart item) return.

@Adam: so long as we're never forced to use the blue shell for anything, if they'd like to bring it back, whatev'. I just thought it was lame. :3

I think it's one of the best Mario games ever, alongside Super Mario World and Super Mario Galaxy.

It's a good thing you've got a husband, because I'd never be able to marry you.

ironically, i hate the blue shell in NSMB, but I love it in MKDS (because i love avoiding it and watching it hit the jerk[s] who had previously been behind me). Adam would never be able to marry me, either. :3

Way too easy, and lacked charm, so I'm not a fan of it at all. Tis also outragously overpriced.

^ I thought $35 for a new Mario platformer was pretty fair...

I merely thought NSMB was OK. Not nearly as good as any other Mario game. The 2.5D style was nice, but the whole game felt kinda hollow. It never really brought anything new to the table, but rather just recycled elements from the other games. It was a bit on the easy side, and a lot of the new power-ups were pretty useless. I liked the blue shell, but the mega mushroom wasn't as useful as it could've been, since I was constantly getting stopped by small passages, and I like to think of the mini mushroom as a cruel joke Nintendo concocted to infuriate players.

Worst of all, though, was the lack of any flying power-ups whatsoever. Thank god Nintendo is sort of remedying this in NSMB Wii with those propeller-hat thingies.
