while i am as excited as everyone else about the 3DS, unless the economy picks up here in central NY i am going to be playing my DSi for a l-o-n-g time...which is ok since there are still lots of games i need to either finish or want to pick back up after trading in and wishing i had them back.
as much as i'd like to be in that line that gets a 3DS first, realistically it ain't gonna happen, not much of a hardship, really: i love my DSi.
Dragon Quest VI is still coming, I hope. Square-Enix did say they were going to do the DQ4-6 trilogy in Japanese and English. Including DQ9, that's been one release per year. (and I'm still hoping SaGa 2 doesn't become the first SaGa since the SNES to not come out in English. Not counting Japanese-only hardware (WonderSwan and cellphones).)
Almost forgot about the Fire Emblem 3 remake. That's another I hope makes it over.
I'm not much of a swan song person...especially since handheld games hold their value well until new iterations come out, giving me a chance to collect some of those games I can't justify full price for (like FF: Heroes of Light). Chances are I'll be buying DS games for some time to come.

Professor Layton and the Specter's Flute. It hasn't been officially confirmed for the U.S. yet, but we've gotten a new Layton game in 2008, 2009, and 2010. I expect to see the next installment around September 2011.

I'm thinking that the last new DS games that I buy will probably be either Okamiden or Kingdom Hearts: Re:Coded. Unfortunately, I haven't played the original Okami yet and I want to play that before Okamiden.
Probably that Kirby game that we don't know a whole lot about yet, unless it turns out bad. If that's the case, probably Sonic Colors (on my holiday wishlist but don't have it yet).

all i can say is thank you for bringing ni no kuni to my attention. it's beautiful. that has gone straight to the top of my list, although I'll get it on ps3, so it won't be my ds swan song. maybe kingdom hearts... but if something great comes out i'll just put it in my 3DS minus the 3D right?

Digitaloggery 3DS FC: Otaku1 WiiU: 013017970991 Nintendo of Japan niconico community is full of kawaii! Must finish my backlagg or at least get close this year W...
Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. Since it's already out, I'm not really looking forward to anything new for now. I'm still backtracking older DS titles, like Advance Wars Dual Strike.

I am not even going to speculate what my last DS game will be because over this past year I decided to hunt down Gamecube games that I missed and I actually found a brand new copy of Chibi-Robo at an EB Games. that was in July. Now thinking about the DS end of life I can see my self buying a new DS game 5 years from now that is all forgotten at some random store.
