Topic: what exactly gets transfered in a 3ds to 3ds system transfer??

selling my old 3ds on ebay after system transfer is exactly my plan. I don't want to loose my Ambasador games or my gameboy vc.
I have compared prices here in sweden and if i sell my 3ds on gamestop i get about 35€ and on ebay about 78€. So don't be tempted of my quick money

How many times can the same 3ds data be transferred? I'm going to trade my normal 3ds in for a XL, I was going to trans my data to the 3ds I won in the comp, then send that to my XL when I get home......is this possible?

i have $149.73 on my eshop account will that be transfered over to my new 3ds?

Your eShop balance transfers, but there is a limit if the combined total from both systems is too high.

Do you need internet to transfer over? My friend owns the gamestop and he said i can trade in my 3ds and buy the 3ds xl on the spot and just do the transfer in the store, and they dont have wi-fi (surprisingly) so will i be able to transfer all the info even if both 3ds's dont have internet connection?

Well Gamestop does memory transfers when you trade in 360s/PS3s so I dont see why not with the 3DS I don't know if memory transfer requires internet though. It shouldn't since it didn't need it when I transferred my DSiWare to my 3DS. I think it just sends in all the info from your old system to the new one so it shouldn't need internet.

You need an internet connection to system transfer.

Important Notes!

An active internet connection is required to process the transfer.
Plugging in the system is not required to proceed.

But if games are downloaded to an SD card, and photos are stored on the system memory, is there a way to transfer all of that data to a new (bigger) SD card in the new 3DS?

Your SD card is going to work with the transferred 3DS. It's literally as if you had that 3DS all along. Though you can transfer it in the future to a bigger SD Card using a computer, but they have to be the same brand.

Make sure that your SD card with data in it is in the old 3DS during the transfer. Otherwise it will be reformatted and you'll lose everything

Ok so I've got a 32gb card in my 3ds right now and when I get an xl I'll want to do a system transfer, so how does that work in terms of me having a larger card than the 4gb include! Can i transfer without the memory cards and put it in after!

Yup. You actually don't need them during the transfer, but I'd still recommend leaving it in the old one. After the process is done, insert the card in your XL and you should have all your files in tact. I doubt the 32gb size will affect anything if it worked on the old model.

Also, it would be wise to back up your files on a computer before doing the process just in case something happens. Simply copy and paste the entire folder as is (do not modify the folder) from the SD card into a folder in your computer.
