Topic: The Legend of Legacy.

Just got to the city after beating the first boss. Is... there more to the game than this? I haven't found a way to open a menu. Battles appear to have little strategy beyond choosing a party formation and then slugging it out with an enemy until it dies. I'm hoping it's just slowly introducing the battle system.

On the plus side, the visual design is nice (even if it looks a bit too much like Bravely Default). The music is... OK. Does the story differ vastly depending on which character you pick? If so, that could be a neat way to extend the life of this game.

It opens up a bit after the tutorial dungeon.

Now you can open the menu, change party, use singing stones and get new dungeons.

About the characters, I believe their intro, starting party, ending and dialogues through the game change. But I don't see much else being different.

I kind of like that the game automatically heals you after battles, although I get the feeling this might make the game a bit easy.

Also, the dedicated screenshot button is nice. I wish more games included that. I like taking screenshots of funny dialogue and such on my PS Vita games, but the only way to do that on 3DS is to post a screen to Miiverse, which requires internet.

Actually, if your characters faint in battle, their max hp goes down a bit, and they get weaker and weaker until you rest at the inn. I think it's a nice system.

I'm not feeling this game. Seems too generic for my tastes. I'll probably hold off for a sale of it doesn't get better. I've got a nice backlog anyways.

It's alright. Feels like a budget game, to be honest. I'll probably wait on a sale.

Although aside from Corpse Party, Senran Kagura, Xenoblade X, and Fatal Frame, I'm going to try to stick to my guns on not buying any more new games until I burn through this enormous backlog of games I've acquired over the years. Primarily on Steam.

EDIT: The town environment is weird! The sky and background seriously look like a backdrop to a play or something. I wonder if that's intentional? It looks better when it does that zooming out thing that BD did, though.

I think they wanted the town to look like a painting. I actually thought it was a normal image the first time I saw it.

@Ralizah: in case u didn't know, all preorders plus some limited stock will come in a Launch Edition which includes an art book and soundtrack CD at regular retail price. If those things don't interest you, then yeah you'll probably be able to find it cheaper eventually I imagine.

@foodmetaphors: Regular retail price lol, don't get us started on that one again. The only reason we will consider this day one is because of the 40$ price. Of it was 50$ like Stella Glow then we wait for a sale. I'm so done with all the added crap. It just sits there and collects dust and takes up space for me.

i am getting this one day one because I have a good preorder in through best buy. i am only paying 39.99 plus tax instead of $50 here in Canada. this game looks amazing and i cannot wait to play the full version

@break I loved the demo too! How do I find this hidden "Shadow Giant" I think I remember one of the NPC's or that king dude saying something about it.

When you enter an area, sometimes it will be covered by purple fog. It's completely random, and if you don't get it, then go back to town and sleep at the inn.

I will most likely get this day one to show my support but it will go right to my backlog. I unfortunately have what I think better rpg's I would like to beat first. Still like to see everyone impressions though as you play.

@LztheQuack: So just that first zone? Or should I check each zone after I sleep?

For me, it appeared on the right zone randomly.

Does it really lack a good storyline? Im in europe so no release date for me anyway, but just in case I get hold of this game I wanna know for sure if there is a story or not

It seems to be similar to etrian oddysey, where stuff happens, but you're not very involved.

So I went ahead and picked this up in store at best buy. I wanted it on the eshop but since I got the 30$ best buy rewards card with Lego Dimentions I save 20% off new games so it only cost me 32$ so I couldn't pass that up. With those savings I may turn back to more retail games in the future.

Still not sure when I'll play it but I feel like I need to support my favorite 3rd party whenever I can. Shoot, it will make all those 50$ Atlus games feel more bearable.

I beat the demo then heard about this shadow giant, so I went on a mission to hunt him down. All I can say is... wow. He wiped me out in two turns, and I thought I was over-leveled! XD Anyone have tips on this guy? It would be nice to at least last four turns or so.
