@Klimbatize: if you go to the old Wiki page for Petit computer you can see what was created and get an idea of whether or not it might be worth it. There really was only 1 epic type game made which was a remake ofMegaMan II. The rest is mostly demo type games and partially made games. Hopefully things will be better this time. I'm going to start work on a text based murder mystery with hopefully some point and click gameplay. I really liked games like JB Harold Murder Club which what I'm looking for in my game. Then after that I would like to make more of course. But look at the Wikia there is some neat stuff there. A guy made a cool version of Harvest Moon and there is also Megaman. There are some neat things there but most of it is unfinished projects. My recommendation is this. Hold off until something that catches your eye is finished. Then go for it. This is supposed to more of a user friendly app hopefully that translates into more published games
Still playing 3DS but will have Switch soon for multiplayer with friends. I miss you guys! Adam, Joni, Gavin and the rest of the Blue Rogues from the Phantasy Star Zero Days.

@Morpheel why don't you drop me your FC. Mine is posted in my signature. I would like to have you on my friends list for future games. I'm waiting for Final Fantasy Explorers currently for online play and I still play Monster Hunter from time to time.

@Klimbatize:
Looking at the Petit Computer wiki linked above doesn't give you a great idea of what was available for it. That site has a lot of content posted, but it's a mess and hard to distinguish what is worth playing versus what is just kids fooling around with code.
(Note: Although "kids playing with code" sounds bad, it's not - I think it's great to see people fooling around with different ideas/projects and sharing their progress. It just doesn't translate into stuff that I recommend people go out of their way to play.)
Is the game worth owning if you don't want to code? Meh... some people will find enough games to justify the purchase, but most of the games will be amateurish. For the old (less powerful) game most of the best apps were things like remakes of old pre-NES PC games or simple games like solitaire and mahjong. That's not as bad as it sounds, but maybe not worth the asking price for some...
For anyone with any interest in coding, I think this is a great option though. Even if your interest is limited to just messing around with code other people have given you to do silly things.
@Morpheel: Gotcha added. Thanks mauybe someday we can play something. Would have been neat if SmileBasic allowed file trading through the friends list. I can't wait o dive into this but I posted a bunch of PlayStation 2 RPG's to Craigslist. I'm selling my entire ps2 collection of RPG's about 40 games

Yeah I would agree. To me some of the example games included with program even though amateurish are really neat. The 3D RPG that is there would be neat to tweak into something bigger

@Klimbatize Here's the best game I ever finished in Petit Computer: Revenge of the Crazy Baby
I also had an arcade game called Infinite Office, and I was working on a port of Chip's Challenge, but I encountered some issues, and since I though SmileBASIC would be releasing soon, I decided to cancel it. Also, it's copywrited and I didn't like that either.
Basically, since SmileBASIC is even more powerful, how-in depth a game can be depends on how in-depth the user makes it, SmileBASIC doesn't really limit the size of games as far as I can tell. Even if I were to create a game larger than the 20 MB limit for uploading (Which I doubt would ever happen), I would still be able to do something like, publish it as two programs and then have the player move them into the correct folder, or maybe I could even have an installer that does it them.

That's how I started making games in Petit Computer. I turned the 3D RPG into something wayyyyyyy bigger. That taught me coding. From there I made a Zelda-type game that I never finished but had an entire working dungeon, sidequests, items, etc in
The main theme is "ninja" - but they are also allowing entries into either "useful gadgets" or "open" categories if you have something you think is really cool to show off. I'm keen to see what people all over the world come up with.

Hmm...I never entered these for the original, but I'm confident I could do well in this contest. A game I made in two weeks in a dialect of BASIC that I didn't know (most of that time was spent learning the syntax differences...) won second place in New York State in a high school game making competition in April, so with a few months time, I'm sure I can make a great game for this.
@Morpheel: what's the public key for the Reindeer game?

The download code is YKAKXX3YY. I think it might be my favorite game so far! It's just really simple and fun, has great graphics and music, it's awesome!
I'm taking time learning this. I never really learned how to program efficiently in the last one. If anyone knows any great place to start, please reply. I know about Petit Professor on Youtube, just looking for more tutorials.

To me, the best way to learn is to mess with code already available. Take something like the sample RPG and just started editing code and look at the results. Eventually it will all come together that way.
Hey! I'm RagingRedstoner. I was GraphicGenius, but I made a new account. Anyways, I feel like we need a new forum just for SmileBASIC tutorials. If I'm not mistaken, there were some new features added.
I'm not in your nightmares. I AM your nightmares. Muahahahahahaha.

Someone in miiverse asked how to use backgrounds from the map creation tool, so I made a quick example program... Just in case anyone here wants it too.
@Morpheel you wouldnt happen to know a random maze generator would you. something like when you exit the maze it generates a new one
