So, since it's been so long and the (much) older thread really had nothing of importance in it, I decided to start a new one.
Apparently, this game is finally coming out in America really soon, maybe even this month. Anyone else here hyped about it? (anyone???) I have been saving the eshop money to buy it day one for months now.
Also btw, SmileBoom announced that the WiiU would get it's own Petit Computer.
I would love to try this again but I just could not make heads nor tails on how to use the first one. I would like to use it if I can get it to work. Maybe programming is just not meant for me

That's exactly how I feel. I would love to play the sequel if the first wasn't so frustrating...
I ended up deleting the first petit computer out of frustration on my 3DS...
I truly hope the sequel will be 10 times better. Will defently be watching youtube video's on it first & also reading reviews before downloading the sequel...

I'm sure I will get the second one. As hard a time as I had with the first one. I went on YouTube and tried at least 15 times to go through some of the Lessons for it and still the only thing that sinks in is "Hello World!" I would love to prove old guys can make cool stuff too. lol

The first one is actually pretty easy to use. It's just that game bridge really reeeealllyy did a mediocre job explaining it in the manual.
If you guys want to have some questions related to the first one, to get you in the mood for the upcoming 3d version, I can try to answer them.
I want to make a baseball type game me and my brother created when we were kids. Of course we lived it. The gist of this baseball game is you have a pitcher and a batter. For your field of play there will be a baseball shaped type of room you play in with targets to hit the ball too. You have all the major hits as targets from base hits to outs. Of course hitting the ball back to the pitcher was an out whether a ground ball or fly ball. I wanted to expand on that game by making it into a Videogame where the targets would shuffle every inning as well. Anyway just a little idea I had but have no idea where to start.

Well, as usual, the best way to start is by making something simple. If you try to go big on your first try, chances are you'll have a hard time, fail, get mad and then stop trying.
Most people learn the basics by making simple text based applications. Like a calculator, making a text-based character that moves around, or a program that asks you for some words and then makes a funny story with them.
You can also make complex things with only text. For example, as long as you have the mechanics of how a baseball game would work, you can start making it without graphics, only data, and then add them as your project grows.
Some good things to start experimenting with are variables, if-then, inputs, text and labels.
After that you can start drawing things with the g(graphic) functions, using sprites and backgrounds, arrays, cycles, etc.
Lastly, remember, you're a single person creating something complex. Don't expect immediate results because you'll only frustrate yourself, instead try to enjoy the little achievements that happen along the way.

Yeah I've done the text base stuff. I've put in about 60 hours give or take a few hours into the first release of pettitte computer. I just felt I was getting nowhere. If I could get a guy hitting the ball at some point that would be cool. I'm definitely getting the next one. And I will try again. Maybe next time I will also try and find a group of others who are using Pettitte Computer maybe they can shed some light. I will also go through all the text programs again. I will get back to the basics and try again

Is it weird to be excited about interface improvements?
For example, the contextual help that gives you reference material about a specific command without having to leave your code and browse through a separate manual. Once you are familiar with commands it's not a big deal - but when still learning or trying something new this will be much more convenient than what was in Petit Computer.
