As someone who liked Child of Light, "longer" and "more aesthetically impressive" does not equal better (ironic considering I've been praising Child of Light's "short" length compared to modern JRPGs)
If the game lives up to potential, I think its fine. It got a lot of funds and clearly used that to make a lot of game, for the type of game it is at least. And is getting free updates throughout the year apparently. And is actually using the features specifically on the 3DS and Wii U.
I don't think the game will dissapoint at all. This is one indie dev worth supporting with an "extra" $5.00, if that's how you want to look at it. Consider it a nice little tip for releasing the game day one on BOTH Wii U and 3DS (and also not the other consoles/handheld/mobile heheh)
Oh I agree it will be worth the money. I guess I was just thinking 10$ would be a better price point. Now people will hold off regardless of a good review or not.
I know it's not the same argument but had Gunman Clive been priced at 3.99 we wouldn't be hearing about Its success story.

15 is alot compared to other titles such as Little Dew($10) or Unepic($10)
15 dollars is the same price as Child Of Light which seems to be a much better game(I know child of light is not indie)
@Sleepingmudkip Can you explain how Child of Light is a better game I'm just curious and want to hear your reasons.
in my personal opinion the whole 32/64 bit platformer has and is becoming a over used thing with indie games. Child Of Light is a much better throw back to those eras because its a JRPG that bring back the feeling of playing the NES and SNES all over again more then Shovel knight.....in my opinion
Playing: Wargroove on Switch and Fire Emblem on GBA

Maybe not as much, but I don't think I could honestly take a person who complains about $3.99 for a good game seriously when every game I've played at $4.99 were terrible. Seriously, Gunman Clive is one of only 2 games I've even heard of being good at $2. Most of the time you get what you pay for...

I tend to agree somewhat. I know it's a double standard and Shovel Knight might end up being 5 times the content but just looks wise one looks more modern then the other. To me 8 bit graphics shouldn't be priced so high.

But 8-Bit graphics =/= the amount of time, money, and effort put into the game, nor does it equate to how good or lengthy the game will be. If you don't want to pay $15 for a good game, fine, but there's no need to rationalize it. There are other games you would rather play, some that you own, some that you could get for less. That's all the motivation you need, IMO.
Gunman Clive's price was certainly an informed decision, just like the $0.99 price point for a lot of software bound for mobile platforms. I don't endorse overpaying for new products, but I do think that if the price is within the realm of reasonable, even if on the high-end of it, we should not begrudge the creator of making good profits.

Oh I agree, however you can't argue that 1.99 is a low risk price for anybody. How many people took the chance on it saying well it's only 2$ 4$ not so much.

I have to agree that $10 seems like it would be the better price point. TO ME the game looks every bit worth the $15. I love the graphics. 8bit always has every one feeling different ways, but to me they are beautiful, fully nostalgic but yet still seem more detailed than NES games were in the past. Not to mention the 3DS supposedly takes full advantage of stereoscopic 3D. There seems to also just be alot of content. Megaman but with tons of gold to buy things and upgrade your character. The bosses all look highly detailed, the levels very creative. I also think shovel knight is a well designed and memorable character. Streetpass arena seems like a very unique and fun implementation of streetpass. However, it is clear i am all aboard the hype train. I just hope people don't just see it as just a megaman remake because then it is a tough sell over all the other $5 megaman eshop games. I want this game to be extremely successful. $10 as a launch price would have been cool to get more people playing the game faster
