I rebuttle by saying HD is incredibly unnecessary, and arguably counter productive to horror. The fact that they've already shown a willingness to port a 3DS RE to HD platforms just helps prove of meaningless and stupid this decision is.
Eh, I see their logic. Capcom makes the 3DS Revelations, then decides to port it to HD platforms. The ports get bad reviews for questionable graphics and textures, so Capcom decides to fix that. They make a game for HD platforms first, and then realise they can't scale it back to the 3DS efficiently.
always thought I'd change to Gyarados after I turned 20 but hey, this is more fitting I guess. (also somebody registered under the original Magikarp name and I can't get back to it anymore orz)
At somepoint we have throw the questions elsewhere. Is there something wrong with Nintendo's network for third parties? Was the original not profitable enough? I already know the answer to the latter.
Anyway yeah you've just been Square Enixed! This game would probably do better on the confirmed platforms than 3DS, I don't know why the Vita version could be a thing.

The Vita getting a version isn't even the thing that's puzzling me, I just wanna know how Capcom determined they can afford to skip a 3DS version. The first game has sold about 2 million across all platforms, if you take out the 3DS figures then it's a little over one million. That's a pretty significant difference. Not to mention the 3DS userbase is quite larger than it was in 2012 and the original still gets enough positive word of mouth that a sequel would do very likely well.
Well, it's not like I would have picked this game up anyway but it still sucks that all the 3DS owners who enjoyed the first will miss out. Maybe this is Capcom's way of evening the score for Monster Hunter going exclusive.

Lets' not forget that RE:R2 is coming out in multiple small releases. The Nintendo public probably wouldn't stand for that. (I know I wouldn't have bought it that way)
But there is a very good chance that the 3DS will receive the "complete" version later on.

I think if it does come to 3DS, it'll be only for New 3DS.

It is being released both in episodic format and single-purchase. You can choose one or the other.
