Gamer83 commented on Review: Mario Tennis Open (3DS):
Sounds like a great multiplayer game, which I expected, but the lack of solid singleplayer makes this a no go for me. Too many good games coming out for the other machines. I'm a little disappointed in Nintendo for not going all out on the singleplayer portion of the game.

Gamer83 commented on Nintendo Still Top of Japanese Charts Despite ...:
Kind of sad to see the Vita doing so poorly since it is a great product but they just don't have the right games for the Japanese market. Another solid week for Nintendo which is great, there was big drop off but it was all the way around so not really a huge deal. Hopefully next week all numbers will be up.

I'll be downloading the Rayman Origins demo for sure, if for nothing else just to see what they did with the 3D effect. I already know it's a great game. Don't really care about either Kirby Block Ball or Chronicles of Vampire, I guess it's nice to see a 3DS VC game again but that also means it'll be a month or two before seeing another one. I still say kill the 3DS VC in favor of releasing old games as '3D Classics.'

Gamer83 commented on Xenoblade and Kid Icarus Missing from NPD's Ap...:
I had a feeling Xenoblade wouldn't sell well. The Wii is on the way out, it would've been interesting to see how this game would've done had it been released in say 2009, but it is what it is. At least NoA, eventhough it dragged its feet, brought the game out. The Last Story probably will suffer the same but again, at least it's being released. Hopefully with the Wii U though Nintendo and third parties will get smarter about releasing these kinds of games.
As for Kid Icarus, don't really know what to say, wish it had sold better but it lacks Mario so lower sales don't surprise me. That said, it is nice to know that if sales were still counted as individual skus that the game would've charted in the top 10, so maybe it's not lighting up the chart but it's not performing horribly either, especially for a series that was dormant for over 20 years.

The continued lack of 3DS VC is annoying but the mini-revival of the Wii VC has been great. I'll download Monster World IV for sure, still not sure about the other one.

Gamer83 commented on Feature: The Magic of Console Launches:
Aside from the N64, Dreamcast, Wii, 3DS and PS Vita, I haven't really gotten too excited over system launches. Eventhough I gamed a lot on NES I was only 8 when the SNES launched and even younger when Genesis came out so I didn't really get amped up over those launches, though had I been older, I'm sure those would've been systems I tried to get day one.
I'm looking forward to E3 and any other conference afterwards to get news on Wii U but I can't say yet I'm as interested in the machine as I was the Wii. Of course, I'll still get one because there is no way I'm passing up Super Mario, Metroid, Mario Kart, Smash Bros. and Zelda in HD, I just hope one of those is there right from launch day. The $250 price point and Zelda: Twilight Princess was what made me go with the Wii at launch over PS3, I'm interested to see what games will be available from the start this time. 3DS was slow out of the gate and I think the lack of a Mario game was the biggest reason.

Gamer83 commented on Wonder Boy Double Dose Hits North America's VC...:
Looks like one last small push for the Wii VC before the console's run is wrapped up. Good job by Nintendo and their third party partners, but I hope when the Wii U rolls around they shut the service down for good unless they plan to support it consistently with one release per week like when the service originally started. If they don't plan to do that, I think I'd rather they shut it down and open up an 'HD Classics' section and put everything there. I'd buy Super Mario 64 again if they spruced up the graphics a bit for the new machine.

Gamer83 commented on Nintendo Download: 3rd May 2012 (North America):
Well, there's a difference between whining and just giving a general criticism. Saying that Nintendo's handling of the 3DS VC has been poor is simply just pointing out an absolute fact. You should get a clue about the person you decide to throw out personal attacks against as well, as I've also given Nintendo credit where it's due as I feel they've handled the 3D Classics and 3D game sections of the E-Shop very well, probably even better than the early days of Wii VC which was supported nicely through about 2009. Further more, I never said Nintendo should change it's release schedule. However, if you have a service like the 3DS VC it should be supported well, and it has not been. If you ask me the whole thing is really a waste since the 3D Classics section exists but Nintendo is sitting on a gold mine with all the GB games they have and it wouldn't take much to release one a week. One person saying that on their own will not change anything but if there is enough demand any company will take note of it. There's no guarantee they'll act but there is a chance. If people feel something should be supported, say something because if nothing is said you can be positive that nothing will change. That's all I was saying, but trying to have a reasonable discussion with Nintendo fanboys without being attacked is like trying to talk to a brick wall. Unfortunately this place is full of fanboys but there are some here who are just gamers who rightly feel Nintendo should make better use of the 3DS VC and I hope those people don't shut up about how poorly NoA has handled it. I won't say Nintendo as a whole has done a bad job because it seems like the European and Japanese branches actually do care about their consumers.

Bird Mania 3D seems pretty cool, for $2 I'll take a risk on it. I've given up on the 3DS Virtual Console, the imbeciles at NoA need to just kill the service already it's embarrassing at this point.

Gamer83 commented on Wii U Release Date and Price Announcements May...:
I remember back in 2006 after Nintendo blew the doors off everybody at E3 I couldn't wait to get launch info and it ended up we didn't get really anything until they had a some press conferences in September so this news doesn't surprise me at all. I expect a great showing for the Wii U at E3 but no launch details at all.

Aside from TG16's Fighting Street or whatever it's called, I've bought every SF available on the VC and since this has online, I'll purchase it. It's painfully obvious Nintendo doesn't give a crap about the VC on the 3DS though, and really haven't given a crap about the Wii VC since mid-2009, it really is time they end the service, it had a decent run but it's over. Any classic game they want to release from here on out should be a '3D Classic' for the 3DS or an 'HD Remix' for the Wii U. I'd definitely buy Super Mario World again if it was given the 3D Classic treatment.

Decided to take a chance on the game because of the low price point and I'm glad I did. It's challenging and at times frustrating but it's also very addicting and I'd even say despite some of my frustration I've had a lot of fun playing it. I'd love to see even more games like this.

@DrDaisy
I hope Nintendo does away with the VC period once the Wii U releases. Let those who have bought stuff transfer the games over to Wii U from the Wii if they want but no future releases, it's clear NoA doesn't care about the service so rather than continue to make it a complete joke just do away with it. If there's a classic game they think they can make money off then they should do what they're doing with the 3D Classics, spice up the graphics a bit on something like A Link to the Past and re-release it as an 'HD remix.' I also think they should stop with the 3DS VC now as again, it's a complete joke and it's clear they couldn't give two craps about the service. Rather than waste time and money putting something out there that won't be used, just take something like Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters and put it in the 3D Classics section. This way they can still make money from fans of the original release and introduce it to new players with a much better looking version.

Gamer83 commented on Uh Oh, Castlevania: The Adventure Rated for 3D...:
@Joshers744
Yup, exactly my thoughts when I saw this. It's a shame too, I'd definitely download it. I didn't play the game when it originally came out but I did enjoy Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth on WiiWare so this is definitely on my list of most wanted 3DS VC games. Too bad Reggie and the other clowns at NoA don't care about their fanbase over here though so even if we do get this it won't be for another 3 years.

@Rapadash6
Completely agree, unfortunately fanboys will eat up whatever garbage they are fed and then they get pissed when others, rightly, point out bs.
Anyway, the lack of 3DS VC is again disappointing but I'm willing to give a pass for this week because of the 3D Classic Kid Icarus. I Must Run is actually a pretty good game and very affordable so all in all I don't think this is that bad a week. I expect basically nothing for Wii from here on out since it's pretty much a dead system, only thing left to look forward to on it in NA is The Last Story.

Gamer83 commented on 3DS Stays on Top in Japanese Charts:
@grumblebuzzz
When a company is as quiet about numbers as Sony has been regarding North American sales of the Vita, that's usually not a good sign. I own one and think it's a fantastic piece of hardware, so I'm hoping it's doing better than the lack of numbers from Sony would suggest, reality is though, it's probably not doing great.

Gamer83 commented on Kid Icarus: Uprising Development Landed on Wii...:
I had wanted to see a Kid Icarus game on the Wii but frankly the game turned out fine on the 3DS. The controls took a little getting used to but they're not that bad and I really don't think the remote and nunchuk would've been much better but we'll never know. In the end I'm just happy the series is back and hope they continue with it whether it be on the 3DS or Wii U.

The games will just end up showing up on other platforms and you can get just get the games elsehwere. The only ones losing out because of these stupid policies are Nintendo and the people who don't have other systems yet.

Gamer83 commented on MDK2 Dev Will Never Develop for Nintendo Again:
@Samholy
Only trying to prevent bad games? Then explain the disgusting amount of shovelware on Nintendo's downloadable services. MDK 2 doens't suck, Baldur's Gate doesn't suck and the fanboys acting like this isn't an issue are ridiculous. But then again, what should anybody expect from fanboys. Nintendo has some things that obviously need to change, this highlights one of those things. This is Nintendo's loss, not the other way around.

Gamer83 commented on Nintendo Download: 12th April 2012 (North Amer...:
@oldgamesonly
The Wii is a dead system so I get why they've cut back on VC games for it. Most of the classics are already available anyway because Nintendo did a great job delivering content on the service from 2006 to 2008, and that's why it's so disappointing that the early support of the 3DS VC has been as absolutely putrid as it is. There's more than enough good games on the Gameboy alone that we should be getting no less than 2 games a week, period. When you factor in the GBC and GameGear, there is no excuse for the lack of 3DS VC and only a fanboy would defend Nintendo on this. Now to be fair, I will say that overall it's hard to bash Nintendo (unless you're strictly a retro gamer) over the e-shop because 3DS Ware has many great games. I'm still going through some that I missed in past months like Mighty Switch Force. I just wish we'd see some more GB and GBC games.

F-Zero also could've worked on Wii. Wave Race and Star Fox could've as well. I won't complain about Nintendo's first party support for the Wii because I think it's the best job they've done on a home console since SNES but I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss those three franchises. Hopefully all will make a return on Wii U.

@vherub
The thing that still gives me a little bit of hope is that the first few years of Wii VC were great and apart from the not-so-great support of the 3DS VC, the 3DS has seen a fair amount of high quality downloadable games. I think the Wii U will have a strong early showing on e-shop, the key will be balancing games for both the home console and the handheld and getting more third parties to deliver some good stuff.

Gamer83 commented on Capcom: "No Plans for Resident Evil 6 Wii U At...:
I think it's inevitable that RE 6 will be on Wii U, the games have always sold well on Nintendo platforms and the Wii U hardware will at the very least be as capable as the 360 and PS3 so it makes sense. Capcom has made some stupid decisions but I can't believe they'd be so stupid as to miss an obvious opportunity like this one.

Gamer83 commented on Rumour: Wii U Components Cost $180, Will Retai...:
$300 isn't outrageous but I'm going to guess the system is not going to be significantly more powerful than the PS3 or the 360, and the PS3 is $50 less, we'll see if that ends up being a problem for Nintendo when it comes to moving consoles in the early going. The Wii sold as well as it did because of a huge price advantage and the uniqueness of the system in comparison to the competition, I want to see what they're going to do to catch the eyes of the masses again. I'll get it for the Marios, Zeldas, Smash Bros. etc, as I'm sure many here will, the big question is, what will be the gimmick that gets the expanded audience interested? I'm not sure the tablet controller alone will do it.

Nice to see Kid Icarus get some good early sales and hopefully it continues, the game is packed full of content and the group at Nintendo who put this game together deserves to be rewarded for it. I'll be interested to see the NA and European numbers as well.
Also just want to throw it out there that the Vita absolutely does not suck. Anybody who says that is just a Nintendo fanboy who hasn't actually spent any good amount of time using it. It is possible to admit that the Vita is a good system while still liking the 3DS as well.

3. Super Mario 3D Land
4. Mario Kart 7
5. Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D
6. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

8. Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition
9. Dead or Alive Dimensions
10. Sonic Generations

Gamer83 commented on Resident Evil Revelations Producer Says Series...:
I thought Revelations perfectly struck the balance between the older, slower style and the new more action-oriented RE games and had hoped that was the direction Capcom planned to go with the series. Reading this stuff though, it's pretty clear they're looking to make a CoD or Gears wannabe which is too bad. This also is a perfect example of why Japanese games are in the state they're in, rather than focusing on what made those games great Japanese developers are trying too hard to 'Westernize' their games for the North American market (Europe seems to be more open minded). It's a shame really. These companies need to wake up and realize, NO game out there sells as well as CoD and restructuring RE to play more like thos games will still not draw in that crowd unless it says 'Call of Duty' somewhere on the box. In the long run, Capcom is just going to piss off its longtime fans, but that's nothing new for them this gen, that company has made some putrid decisions the last few years and it will catch up to them eventually if they're not careful.

Zelda: Skyward Sword, while great, didn't really deserve any GOTY awards so I don't have a problem with that, but I have a major problem with any game in the mobile & handheld category besides SM3DL getting the award. Glad to see the developers came to their senses and didn't include co-op, it utterly destroyed any sense of atmosphere in RE 5 and would've been even worse in Revelations.
