@Neptune I'm fine with that, you can start the room in that case.

Wait, for everyone in your party?

@Ralizah You think I would've picked up on that last week when you were asking the glasses question lol. Good to here from someone that went from the old system yo the new one that can make that comparison.

Doesn't seem it affect the entire party, I noticed it when we were hunting with Morph the other night.

It would be pretty op if it affected the whole party.

The first use makes walking around with the weapon out the same speed as walking around without it.

The second one makes the sharpness more or less useless

Yeah but your weapon still gets weaker. I also beat it weakens your weapon much quicker too!

Well, I was holding off on crafting a secondary weapon for as long as possible, but Gravios is simply too much of a pain to melee. His only apparent vulnerable spot is his belly, and he shoots fire out of it half the time. Not to mention that he rolls around so much that even getting near him is dangerous. I found the bow nearly unusable, but the light and heavy bowgun are both fantastic weapons. I think I'm going to make a heavy bowgun, though, seeing as how I plan to stay as far away from the Gravios as I can while still having the ability to inflict damage.

He's a total pain if you don't know countermeasures against weapon deflection. Gravios is all-around extremely weak to mounting. Breaking his back will prevent him from doing the AoE steam attack after a laser, and breaking parts makes you less likely to bounce. As far as specific weapon strategies go:
Switch Axe has a Mind's Eye (anti-deflection) effect active in sword mode. Long Sword spirit combos and Dual Blade's demon dance also have Mind's Eye. Great Sword charge attacks have a huge sharpness modifier to prevent deflecting. Insect Glaives can mount all day long. Sword and Shield lets you mount up ledges as well as down, along with being able to use Barrel Bombs at all times. Lance has the counter, the running charge, and the rare ability to jump. Gunlance has shelling and Wyvern's Fire. Hammer just smashes his rocks in until attacks stop bouncing. Exhaust phial Charge Blades can KO like no tomorrow. And all Gunner weapons just tear through Gravios' armor like wet tissue paper.

I realize you already beat him, but if this helps anyone, that'd be great!

Eh, I'm sure I'll fight him again at some point. Thanks for the advice! I'm actually glad to know that so many different weapons can be used effectively on monsters with rough exteriors. Although I did try mounting him multiple times, but he kept rolling on me before I could mount him more than once. Tried spirit blade attacks, too, but he moves around so much that I get stomped before I can get that last strike off to go up to the next level.

I bet he's less of a problem on an expedition or something. The volcano is kind of a stressful, dangerous environment anyway.

@Spoony_Tech

The game definitely performs better on the New 3DS. The framerate is overall improved, it doesn't take half a minute to load into the game, and the textures look MUCH nicer.

Currently Playing: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (SD)

Sharpness is still important even if you can't bounce. Sharpness is attached to a damage multiplier. If you're curious about the actual numbers, I got these from the wiki:

  • Red: .5 Raw /.25 Ele
  • Orange: .75 Raw / .5 Ele
  • Yellow: 1 Raw / .75 Ele
  • Green: 1.05 Raw / 1 Ele
  • Blue: 1.20 Raw / 1.0625 Ele
  • White: 1.32 Raw / 1.125 Ele
  • Purple: 1.5 Raw / 1.2 Ele
(NOTE: These are MH3 numbers. I'm pretty sure they haven't changed)
EDIT: Apparently, Purple is now 1.45 Raw, but I'm not getting a source for that one.

BTW, had fun with the Dalamadur fight! Having family over soon, but hopefully I can play with you guys again.

Ok guys, I'm in high rank and ready for a REAL armor set, instead of this makeshift Tetsucabra S armor that has served its purpose until now.

Here's what I'm thinking:

Najarala S blademaster with Earplugs, Capture Expert, Negate Paralysis and Evasion gemmed in since there are 2 double slots and a single. Using a double slotted talisman I could not only gem in Evasion, but I could then use any weapon slots to gem out Spectre's Whim. So, I want to hunt some Najarala and Lagombi, which also happen to be the two monsters needed for the evasion decorations.

If anyone in high rank thinks this sounds like a nice armor set and would like one to match, let's go hunt some monsters and get us a nice Earplug/Evasion set!

I normally tend to sharpen my weapon either when my weapon falls two levels below max sharpness, or when I start bouncing whichever comes first. Other than that I always sharpen when a monster leaves the area and I have a chance to, even if it only lost one level of sharpness

Not gonna record right now, since I'm watching Futurama...but I'm thinking of recording the Emerald Congalala quest with one of you guys.

Think you have to make the room private before actually creating it, lol
Like, I think it has the option "include friends". (...or exclude them, for some reason)
