My problem with this game (apart from the lazy programming and glitches everywhere) is how little feedback there is.
Everything you do has no consequences. It doesn't matter if you're in the prison and switch to the cop costume; nobody notices. Drove off the cliff? Same damage as running into a car. Fighting a bunch of enemies? Nope, they're all dead 3 seconds later. Destroyed some not-plot-relevant-but-still-important-item? Here it is again!
There's no feedback, no consequence for your actions, and the glitches (unlike Sonic 06 where they're gambreaking and fairly easy to trigger) are still a nuisance.

7/10
It's not a perfect game, but as an owner of a few other Lego titles I still say it's a great fun game. I would like some of the things you noted to take place in game as well....maybe next time. But it's still fun!

Just when I began to reconsider getting this, I read your comments. I think I'll get Lego City Undercover for Wii U instead (since I have that console now).

LOL. You took the words right out of my mouth. I was thinking the exact same.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
I just got the game, gonna play it and see what it's like.
Cool! I'm interested to know your impressions.
It's pretty awesome and fun at the moment, yes there is a bit of lag here and there when driving but it's very fun, also found a code for a zombie costume!
I don't have money for this or the Wii U version atm, so I'll just have to sit back while everyone else explores and enjoys Lego City
Well it will be cheaper in the future so you will be able to tour lego city on a discount
................................................ @anyone in lego city u, is the whole city loaded and can go where ever without having it to load? I know in the 3ds version when you go to different parts of town you have it has to load.
In LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins, there's a mission on Apollo Island where you have to retrieve some power pellets to reboot the shuttle's engines. Unfortunately, the bad guys seem to have taken the pellets and hidden them all over the island.
On the last power pellet, we see a goon accidentally trip into the rocket silo. The last time we saw someone fall from a seemingly fatal height, they landed head first in the mud, and their feet were waggling to signalize their struggle. I get why they did something like that; after all, this is a game meant for younger audiences. Obviously, pushing someone off and landing head first in the mud had to be turned into comic relief, right?
So I walk up to the silo, locate the last pellet, and I find a friggin LEGO skeleton lying there. I don't think it took me that long to find the goon and the power pellet! Even if it did, [strong]this is a LEGO game![/me][/strong] What was Tt Games thinking when they made this game? There was [em]no reason for that moment to be that dark and depressing, especially considering how they made fun of far worse situations!

I wouldn't possibly say its dark or depressing. He instantly turns into a cute plastic skeleton. I don't think it's any different from when Lego characters pop apart into pieces in these games.
Seen some rather mediocre reviews on metacritic. Is it really that bad?
It's definitely a lot worse than the original on the Wii U. It's full of fog and has enclosed areas which makes the world feel less open than it was on the Wii U. It is also full of text instead of the funny dialogue you would hear on the Wii U. The Wii U version was full of references and funny humor in its cutscenes while the 3DS sequel has far fewer cutscenes and just isn't as funny. Overall the game lacks what made the Wii U version fun.
I got a bit carried away the other night on Ebay. Saw this going for what looked like a decent price and went for it... without looking up the retail price or the reviews! Eeek.
Luckily I've not played the Wii U version, so I'll be able to judge it by its own merits when it arrives.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
I have this game and it's pretty good. It's best for gamers who likes to explore and find stuff, like me, so for that reason i enjoyed it.
It's quite lenghty if you want to complete it 100%.
Framerate is a little sluggish in some places, but never unplayable. Draw distance also could be better, for this reason it's just fog in the distance.
This game shipped over a million units. Pretty good. I got it for my kids but haven't played it myself. The Wii U version was awesome but my kids destroyed the disc.
