Topic: 3DS XL Pedometer

Ok so I notice the 3DS XL has a built in pedometer. So it can track you steps, distance right? I noticed it gives some sort of reward credits the more you walk around with it etc! Which is cool, I was able to use those credits to play some kooky Mii game that was actually sorta fun. What other sort of things can you use these rewards for steps walked etc? Is there any exercise type games for 3DS, or DS that will better utilize this feature??? Like Wii fit for example? Is it worth it to carry this thing around allot for the points lol!?

the pedometer doesn`t do anything other than total up your steps, there`s not much else you can do with it really unless nintendo makes a game that uses the feature.
the play coins you can use to unlock stuff aswell, but that depends on the software, miiplaza as you`ve found uses them in the mii quest. they`re also used to unlock pieces in the puzzle swap game.
if you download swap note / letter box from the eshop (it`s free btw), you can use play coins to unlock stationery and other features too.
if you decide to take your 3DS out with you, make sure you switch on the streetpass feature in miiplaza, you 3DS will get mii`s from other 3DS owners and you can use their mii`s in the quest and pick up puzzle pieces too.
other games do use the street pass feature, but you`ll need to look through the games settings to switch it on.

It just doesn't make any sense having this pedometer feature without having any extended official/3rd party apps on the eShop for the 3DS. Like Nitendnut says there a whole lot of scope for a version of 3DS Fit if you ask me. Somebody needs to tell the developers that they're missing a trick here!

In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the only way to get the cool Nintendo themed items is by using the Play Coins that you earn through the pedometer.

They were used for something in Kid Icarus too. Being left handed, I didn't spend enough time with that game to remember.

You can dedicate your steps to a garden in Hana Samurai on the eShop. It's a neat feature; keeps me coming back to that game.

You can buy character weapon loadouts on Mercenaries, along with a special loadout.

You can buy eggs in Kid Icarus to get new statues and stuff.

You can buy Nano Coins on Nano Assault with them.

Can't remember what SSF4 used them for, but I know it used them.

There's been plenty of games that have used them, and quite well in some. But they are a rather untapped opportunity, especially when most will likely use them on StreetPass Mii Plaza or recently New Leaf for the rarer items.

And you can also buy weapons and other stuff in Resident Evil Revelations.

It encouraged to do morning jogs in the morning to cap my medals. I use it then for fortune cookies in Animal Crossing.

It feels awesome... Eating the fortune cookie... the fruit of your morning jogs, the fruit of your sweat and tears... then trading the ticket and getting an awesome item for it.

Priceless

I wish they would do a Pedometer online. Have online rankings for how many steps weekly. Each week start over to see if we can get a new Champion! I carry mine with me all day and average about 15,000 steps a day

Oh wow, this topic is great. I take my 3DS with me to work each night so I rack up the coins but I haven't really had anything to spend them on. Now I know some stuff to check out...

Goddammit you snatched my joke.

I haven't found much use for play coins besides the Streetpass games.
