Hello everyone

Does the 3DS need more shooters? Maybe a game like Call of Duty or Battlefield? :p

If there is already a thread based on this topic, let me know. Thanks

Those two examples there are first-person shooters. Is that what you're asking about, or actual third-person shooters?

I think they could do with some shooters like RE: Revelations but bigger and without Biological mistakes...

Third-Person Shooters: More would be nice, but Kid Icarus and RE: Revelations were both amazing.
First-Person Shooters: There are none. So obviously yes.
Rail Shooters: Nano Assault and Kid Icarus. Both fantastic titles, but we don't completely focus on it, offering maybe 3 hours combined in onrails gameplay. Then we have that hunting game in 3DSWare. I'm going with yes.
SHMUPS: Only ones I remember are Liberation Maiden and most of Nano Assault (last one a bit of a stretch). So I'm going with yes.
All in all, YES YES YES WE NEED MORE.

No it doesn't. Seriously, the view is first-person but it still has TPS mechanics. Revelations is closer to a FPS then Kid Icarus.

No. The genre's been overdone with samey nonsense for like 5 years now. We don't need more! We need less!

I thought Nintendo fans hated shooters? And now they want an over abundance on the Nintendo 3DS?

The logic of this baffles me.

The 3ds has no fps, so yeah. It does need some. Hopefully something more original than COD, but that series would work too..

3rdPS: 3

  • Kid Icarus: Uprising
  • Resident Evil: Revelations
  • Resident Evil: Mercenaries 3D

FPS: 0

Rail Shooters: 8

  • Star Fox 64 3D
  • Nano Assault
  • Dream Trigger 3D
  • Deer Drive Legends
  • Outdoors Unleashed: Africa 3D ("3DSWare")
  • Heavy Fire: Special Operations 3D ("3DSWare")
  • Crazy Chicken Pirates 3D ("3DSWare")
  • Mad Dog McCree ("3DSWare")

SHUMPS: 3

  • Liberation Maiden ("3DSWare")
  • 3D Classics: Xevious ("3DSWare")
  • 3D Classics: Twinbee ("3DSWare")

Not too bad (quantaty wise), unless you're looking for an FPS in particular. Still, it never hurts to get more games.

NOTE: I'm not vouching for the quality of every game listed (some are quite bad, apparently).

Also, this isn't counting whatever's on 3DS VC (although I believe Gradius is the only VC shooter so far).

If it can be done right, I would like to see a first person shooter on the 3DS.
I heard those Call of Duities on the DS were fun, and had online play, but I would love to see Team Fortress 2 on the 3D

You'd really need a Control Pad Pro to get the most out of an FPS. Without it the console doesn't really lend itself well to the genre. Yeah, it's possible with the touch screen, but it's not amazingly comfortable. Especially if you've got an XL model.

@Raiko
You sir have read my mind, I honestly think that first person shooter's should stay on the Vita it just doesn't suit the 3ds too well.

I don't think FPSes would work well on 3DS, but I'd love to see Timesplitters 4 come to Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.

ShiftyLook - Bringing back Namco classics, Step 1- Webcomics.
I help keep these threads updated: New 3DS VC games in Japan, Missing 3DS VC and Wii U VC between regions, and Full of list first party Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Gear games missing from the 3DS VC.

I wouldn't mind a good FPS with Download Play. A new Metroid Prime Hunters would be awesome.

Stylus Controls, Circle Pad Pro and just plain buttons if you want (worked fine for me with Metroid/X-Scape). Customizability is key.

I'd like to see more shooters of all type except TPS games, solely because I don't want to draw my attention away from Kid Icarus and soon to be Revelations (Both can vary in perspective but most consider them third-person shooters). The only good arcade-style rail shooter is that hunting game supposedly, and other format Nano Assault/Kid Icarus don't have enough total content to satisfy (Star Fox doesn't count, lazy port). Then there's not too many SHMUPS (I don't count 3D classics).

The Nintendo 3DS could definitely use first person shooters. It's one of my favorite genres thanks to the ones that I experienced on the Nintendo DS: Metroid Prime Hunters, Moon, Dementium and Dementium II. I would like to see them continue on into the 3DS generation with sequels: Metroid Prime Hunters 2, Moon 2 and Dementium 3. A Metroid experience, as a TPS, would be all right as well, but I would prefer a first person game. I find it disappointing that the 3DS has yet to even hint at a first person shooter worth getting behind yet.

Favorite Game: Metroid Prime Hunters, Xenoblade Chronicles
