i'd have to disagree. Aside from the backtracking, the game feels disorienting in all the right ways. The lead singer of my band is blind, so he can attest to the fact that the game is pretty realistic in terms of how blind people interact with the world. The jump scares actually scared me more than a lot of other horror games, and the sense of isolation and claustrophobia in the darkness only adds to the intensity. Play it in the dark with headphones on, and tell me it isn't scary. Maybe not for full price, but don't hesitate if you like horror games or dark stuff in general. It's tons better than Don't Knock Twice.
to the contrary, i just picked this up on Destura for Windows, and had a blast playing it (even if it only took me 30 min to beat). the graphics, premise, characters, etc. are all a BREATH OF FRESH AIR compared to all of the normal schmups we play everyday. Yes the game is rather easy, but there are many reasons to replay the same levels (try to get all the ICE CREAM letters). I agree that there could be more to round out the package, but for what it is....ice cream surfer is awesome.
it doesn't really matter that much about the rings/lives, whether you get 5-10 more on a GAME OVER screeen, because they're infinite regardless. i'm certainly not complaining, though, since this and a lot of the other updates will streamline the experience (especially adding normal controls to the Wisp powers). This game was great to begin with, but I didn't really think they had to make it easier. It wasn't as hard as some of the reviews portrayed it to be.
Yo errrbody...Link To The Past is a reward at Club Nintendo right now. I'm pretty sure they coordinated THAT coincide with A Link Between World's release.
I would want on the WiiU solely for the purpose of getting more people on the machine. We need more people playing this console, regardless of what kind of game it is.
oh and to the people that think GTA is "childish" or "immature"...how many games do you know on Nintendo systems that attack issues such as America's torturing of detainees after 9/11? How many games do you play that successfully recreate a satirical look of modern America, with its superficiality, shallowness, and obsession with material items? Exactly.
@element187 i play games of all kinds. i'm a collector. this article just comes off as someone who has to go against the norm just for the sake of doing so (or because they're butthurt that WiiU can't get any GTAV-caliber titles). I am not the hugest GTA fan by any means (never have finished a single GTA game), but I can certainly respect the fact that the new one is one of the best games ever made. Period. It will hold a place in gaming history (whether you like it or not), and as a collector, it's a no-brainer for me to purchase it. I plan on also getting Wind Waker HD, but to put that in the same ballpark as GTAV is pretty fanboyish to me. Let's celebrate good games in general, and not this "don't pay attention to that game getting amazing reviews for those other platforms, we have an HD remake coming in three days" attitude. I love games of all types, for all platforms, etc.

best game on wiiU to date. loaded with features, replay-value, and is a great example of the powers of the wiiU (graphics, gamepad integration, etc.). i have most of the wiiU games (i'm a collector), and this is the first game i've played for it that really held my interest since Lego City Undercover. This game, however, is much more streamlined of an experience and much more mature in terms of the story and gameplay. if you're on the fence....just get it. trust me, you won't regret it!
@Dambuster amen to that. these guys said they were writing an in-depth review for this one...i suppose it should be almost a novel by the time it comes out.
yawn...more pointless reviews about games no one cares about. i wish you guys shared my enthusiasm for Nintendo's new console, the WiiU. Have you heard of it?
best game on the wiiU right now. loaded with options (even with the exclusion of local co-op), some of the best graphics on wiiU (if not the best), and definitely one of the most exciting single-player adventures to hit the console to this date.
I am all for WiiU games getting more content. Seems like SEGA is dedicated to making a beefy game. One question: Do the graphics look fuzzy and/or blurry to anyone else but me? I'm hoping it's just crappy screen-capturing, and this baby screams in HD.
I played the demo and was immediately enthralled by this game. I choose the hardest of the three difficulty levels, and didn't seem to run into the crazy difficulty issues some of the reviews have lead people to believe. i also didn't have a problem drawing the different shapes for unity attacks, but the demo doesn't get to the part where you're drawing the more complicated ones (i.e. the whip). I can't wait to pick this up. Loved every minute of it.
