Not sure if @HylianJowi would agree but I find it so hard to even recommend some of these budget titles (even when they are well made) when you have games that are fully featured like Gunman Clive 2 for a dollar more. I had some fun with Frenchy Bird but I can't say I would spend money on it. eShop is at such a weird place at the moment and I am constantly struggling with how to deal with the changing landscape.

Nice review @TimLatshaw. I love a good word game so this is rather disappointing :-/

Dev told me he was going to add more content in a patch but I'm not sure of what that will entail.

I had fun with the title (although I don't know if I would have purchased it with my own money). I feel like there is room for a fun sequel since the core gameplay is fun but there just isn't enough variety in the game.

Nice review!

There is a TON of content in this game. I just wish there was more variety to the gameplay. I really enjoyed the dialogue though (especially in the DLC levels) it really kept the game from getting too stale for me.

@brandonbwii I gave it a 4 or a 4.5 FWIW. Both reviews he RT'd glossed over the lag like its not a major issue which I find hilarious since it literally affects every second of gameplay.

I think there is a base for a semi-enjoyable game (although Feeding Frenzy is better so there is no real reason to buy this anyhow) but the lag makes it impossible to recommend.

@HylianJowi the way the dev talked to me is that it was an intentional decision to release it like this. He said it freed up memory for the engine (one of the NWF ones). Usually you'll hear "Oh this wasn't like this on the dev kit" or some excuse about unforeseen circumstances but the developer here made a choice to make it chug constantly to save memory. That is just insane to me. I don't know how you feel good about releasing this onto the eShop in the state it is.

@ejamer That goes both ways though. A free market means Nintendo could choose not to release it. Same deal with Hatred on Steam. No game has a right to be on a service.

I'm not arguing either way here. Just saying Nintendo can choose to do what they want. They refused The Binding of Isaac for example.

@TG1 Yeah the 2nd quest is a lot better. Its really silly that they lock away the enjoyable content though. Requiring you to collect every collectible to finally have fun is just bad design. I had next to no fun playing through the first quest.

@Windy I definitely enjoyed Gunman Clive more but I really liked this game as well. This game definitely has more content and depth than Gunman Clive and is a great value.

I'm really glad I had the chance to review this otherwise I would have never checked this out. Very pleasant surprise.

Online is dead, huh? Guess that is one of the problems when you review a game before its out. No real sense of if the online community is there or not.

I was able to find matches when I was reviewing it but it was all against other writers. Too bad, game is fun enough to where I was hoping it would have gotten its own little niche community.
