I’m wondering when Epic loses will return to these stores and consumers will expect the “new” lower price ($8). Then Apple/google takes the further 15-30% cut.
I don’t really understand people complaining of being tired of Genesis ports when only 4 out of 19 Sega Ages are Genesis Games. It is mostly made up of Arcade Ports....
Some are saying Nintendo should buy Sega. Sorry but I disagree as I don’t really know how Nintendo could do a better job. Just look at how they are handling back catalogue/IP with Nintendo Online, pretty pathetic and they have a captive audience with the Switch...
I’ve regretted selling games only to put the money on bills. So I now only buy digital and any physical media I sabotage to make it impossible to sell. I don’t keep covers, artwork etc. disc only in a paper slip.
If there’s demand for it, digital Games for the Switch will be preserved I think. I remember in the Wii modding days you could get hold of digital wiiware titles after that eshop closed thanks to the mod community etc. I see someone who lost their Wii u stuff I’m not familiar with the system enough to say those digital games are also “out there”
People care about preservation, so if the need is there it will happen
The idea of physical lasting forever makes sense to me until I think of patches for those games that get saved to the system or your SD cart (not the original cart)
At that point you have a kind of hybrid physical plus digital game. The digital element will then have to be preserved in some way for the physical game to last forever....
Unlikely digital games will disappear forever considering they are already available from your fave torrent site right now... relax I’m not saying you should go down that path but I dont see preservation being a problem in the future...
I’m feeling they won’t release SNES titles on switch until they have completely milked sales of the SNES mini. Maybe when that System is discontinued...
I’d love all those things too but I’m not sure we were ever going to see Dreamcast/Saturn/Advanced Arcade straight out of the gate.
perfecting that stuff would take development time and money . (I would hope they are working on it)
I feel they are very focussed on perfection and talked about being able to finally 100% perfect the Sega Model 1 board (Virtua fighter etc) for the Switch etc.
Hopefully we will see more advanced stuff, I want it as much as anyone.
In my opinion the prices are fine considering the effort that M2 are putting in to these. Not sure how many times this needs to be said but these games are Not some ROMS running in an emulator like the genesis classics or NES (Nintendo online) . They are inserting new features into these releases.
Maybe the will release Daytona one day but M2 are the company who would rather rebuild it from source rather than compromise and run an emulator... if it’s not perfect they will not bother.
Yeah sure this isn’t a big hitter but it hasn’t often been released to the home Market other than on a Saturn compilation. (Originally an arcade release)
Geez I love pixel art too having lived through the 8 and 16 bit era but i think we need to move on. There are plenty of other modern games using the pixel art style anyway to buy. Maybe SOR4 is just not for you. Don’t buy it.
“After a long hiatus, it looks Sega's Super Monkey Ball series is finally rolling back into our lives. Following on from a Taiwanese rating earlier this week and Sega filing a Japanese trademark for a game called Tabegoro! Super Monkey Ball in May, a new listing has now appeared on the Korean ratings board. It seems like an announcement from Sega is now inevitable. The Monkey Ball news doesn't end there, though. There's also a rumour the recently trademarked Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz will be receiving a high-definition makeover for Nintendo Switch. This title was originally released on the Nintendo Wii in 2006 and featured motion controls.”
Cutscenes is the reason I completely dismissed the PlayStation 1 generation and beyond. I hated when games became movies, as an arcade gamer I completely dismissed it and never bought into Sony, gaming changed in my eyes and not for the better.
I’m more moderate in my views now but I still hate cutscenes and skip at the nearest opportunity (usually but not always the + or - button on my switch)
@TuxDC probably a no win situation. People would lose their minds over a blurry video as many already feel Switch is scrutinised for being the “inferior” console when it comes to graphics. Just another example, cmon SEGA you are making MY console look bad. Nintendo wouldn’t do that to us! You suck Sega!
I can agree with most opinions here however those complaining about the cutscene, were you actually going to buy the game? Has this changed things for you?
I think the price is subjective really, the prices are in line with the neo geo and arcade archives stuff. I can afford them as they drip feed out because shock, horror I have zero interest in Nintendo first party games etc. My currrent finances put about a $20-$30 limit on game spending unless I save!
Seems to still be a misunderstanding that Ages is JUST Genesis/ Megadrive games... so here’s the list (note the collection is majority arcade titles)
Sonic the Hedgehog (Megadrive) Thunderforce IV (Megadrive) Phantasy Star (Master System) Outrun (Arcade) Gain Ground (Arcade) Alex Kidd in Miracle World (Master System) Puyo Puyo (Arcade) Virtua Racing (Arcade) Space Harrier (Arcade) Columns II (Arcade) Thunderforce AC (Arcade) Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Megadrive) Puyo Puyo 2 (Arcade) Puzzle & Action: Ichidant-R (Arcade) Shinobi (Arcade) G-LOC: Air Battle (Arcade) Fantasy Zone (Arcade) Herzog Zwei (Megadrive) Wonder Boy in Monster Land (Arcade)
I think it would be a bad idea for Nintendo to buy them and they are too proud of a company to allow that to happen imho.
They need to let go of a bunch of franchises and let others develop them, they are on the right path with Street of Rage 4, Sonic Mania etc
@Fandabidozi until the SNES came out Sega had majority market share here in Australia and I’ve heard did well in Europe too. The Sega Master System was huge here, all my friends had one, hardly a NES in site as it was poorly distributed and marketed in Australia...
Icing on the cake was the Master System had nicer graphics
What’s the problem if it IS a mobile game? Motion and tilt control on mobile is a pretty good fit for the Monkey Ball Series... I’m playing the re released Monkey Ball game on mobile via SEGA Forever, it’s fine.

You Epic prob have their own exemption on console all for themselves! I thought they were doing this for the sake of all developers!

It wouldn’t be 30% would it?

So what percentage do Nintendo cut with developers on the Switch?

As a Sega fan the price is right for me $10.00AU to have a definitive version. These are not straight ports.

Re: Gallery: Capcom Shares First Batch Of Devil May Cry Nintendo Switch Screenshots
@Dpullam agreed. It may help that I love the era (Dreamcast etc) and overlook the graphics. It should be all about the gameplay IMO.
