I'd use Plex far more than Netflix, but I welcome this as it's overdue. Bring on the streaming apps. They'd be very useful to many people, even if not for me personally.
Whether I'm ok with this depends entirely on whether this download is JUST the online bits, or if it's a full repackage of the entire game with the online bits mixed in.
Carts should be EEPROMs, so that the patches can be written to the cartridge itself. It's kind of hard to save space using physical cartridges when game devs are releasing buggy, unfinished code on the cart then expecting day 1 patch downloads in the tens of GB to be stored on the Switch itself which effectively negates the purpose of the cart, turning into just a DRM hardware key.
The game looks interesting but the tidal wave of complaints about the AI and rubberbanding have kept me from buying it. If they decide to ever patch THAT, then I'll consider it. But right now a game needs to be more than pretty for me to drop money on it. I only own a Switch, after all.
I only own a Switch (and a Wii). So if a game doesn't come out for Switch, I don't buy it. Nor am I into sports games. I'm not giving into blackmail to buy a handicapped, buggy game I'm not interested in, sorry. So that is going to distort their data as if they actually made QUALITY games on the Switch in a genre I DO care about, I'd definitely buy them. EA is really being slimy jerks about this, but that's par for the course with them it seems.
Could we have some some female characters that AREN'T DD? The obsession with oversized chests is a bit of a detraction from what seem to be otherwise enjoyable games.
@yeo24k I went into the Switch not really caring much about the portable aspect. I've never owned a portable Nintendo system of any sort, and had never been inclined even to get a DS/3DS. I really had no interest in the portable site and just accepted it as a feature I wouldn't use, assuming I would just leave the Switch docked most the time.
Boy, was I wrong.
You say you haven't bought a Switch, which makes you a lot like me before I bought mine. I've very much changed my impression of the value of the hybrid nature of the device since owning it. This is a classic case of a company knowing what we wanted better/before we did. The portability is seamless, and works, and once you have it you really start to appreciate and enjoy it.
@yeo24k You can't possibly expect Nintendo to somehow cram all the power of a PS4 or XBOne into a small portable form factor, plus sufficient battery. That's ridiculous and unrealistic.
Being different and unique is precisely what keeps Nintendo alive, as they can't subsidize a money-losing game division like Sony and Microsoft can. The Switch is far more-powered than lazy game devs try to make it out to be. They make this crap up as an cop-out excuse to not bother.
I never did play Monster Hunter on my Wii, although I know it was crazy-popular. I'm not sure if it's my kind of game, but if they come out with a Switch version I very well might give it a try for the first time.
First the arbitrary Switch price hike, now this. I'm really losing enthusiasm for this game.
BotW is exponentially more demanding than this game, and is 900p at least. Mario Kart is 1080p. Tantalus is just being lazy here and not stepping up to the plate with the Switch version. Just another half-assed port it seems, then like with the Wii they'll whine that since their crappy port that they didn't put effort into didn't sell well on Nintendo systems, that is their justification to not even bother with future games.

Re: L.A. Noire Is The Latest Game To Fall Foul Of The Dreaded "Switch Tax"
@Peach64 Disagree. Digital kills resale and longevity. I'm buying physical whenever possible.
