Re: Review: NES Remix (Wii U eShop)

I think the price is more than right, considering your get the best parts of these games, the unlockable stamps, AND the remixes? The starting seven games alone would cost more than $15 and not all of them would be enjoyable the entire way through.

Also have to say that the achievement system is devilish. Every other game is "just a couple more stars to the next remix" or "just a few more points to the next stamp". Easy to lose a couple hours in this game.

Re: Weirdness: Say Hello to the Cross Plane, a GamePad For Other Systems

scottsensei

This can't succeed. Let's look at this.

Wii U costs the same as this thing but offers more with a Gamepad that does more. By the 20th, the Wii U will cost less while still offering the same components.

Now let's add this thing to the PS4 and Xbox One for giggles. You're adding $350 to a $400 and $500 console respectively and we haven't even gotten games, paid for online, gotten an extra regular controller, or any other peripherals. I calculated that just to fully arm your PS4 and XBox One including the Cross Plane, you could buy almost FOUR fully loaded Wii U's, and that's the system with game, two extra games, and a Pro Controller. I only calculated for the PS4 and XBox One because this thing by itself costs more than the PS3 and XBox 360.

Now add in that this thing does less than a laptop or tablet (PC sales are gone) and undermines the existence of both the PS Vita and XBox Smart Glass and even Sony and Microsoft will find this to be more of a nuisance than a blessing for an answer to the second screen gaming problem.

And if it supports Ouya... it costs over three times the cost of an Ouya. Full stop.

If this guy isn't hit with a cease and desist letter from SOMEONE by month's end I will be shocked.

Re: Nintendo Download: 15th August (North America)

Splinter Cell is tempting... I voted Runner but I may just download Blacklist instead of doing a physical copy. This summer really saw my number of downloaded games jump and their is a convenience about the whole thing I really dig.

@Azikira

Given the first bit of DLC, everything will be released and then we get it. Given how buggy Zatanna turned out to be (infinite combo breaking the game), quality control needs to wake up.

Re: Interview: Ubisoft On Splinter Cell Blacklist, Taking the Series Forward and Wii U Features

This is an easy patch fix, and honestly? I care more for the online multi than local. This is a single play option being excluded and for the sake of timely release, not an entire mode being excluded due to "lack of interest" like Arkham Origins. Besides, after the backlash from Rayman Legends I'm not surprised Ubisoft isn't keen on delaying any Wii U titles.

Blacklist will be my first Splinter Cell game, and honestly? It's a day one purchase.

Re: Rumour: Mario Kart 8 Coming To Wii U in April

scottsensei

I imagine March will be the release, February if we are extremely lucky but that is unlikely. If their fiscal year ends March 31, 2014 Iwata would want sales numbers for Mario Kart 8 before that time.

Either way, Mario Kart 8 is what I tried at the Best Buy event and I wanted to walk out with it then, so yeah, definitely on my list.

Re: Atlus' Parent Company in the Midst of Financial Difficulties in Japan

scottsensei

I could see the good in buying Atlus as another second party partner. The chance to re-release the Persona games on the Wii U, exclusive rights to Persona 5 and access to the entire back catalogue of Atlus games as a possibility. Not to mention SMT games help console sales and those in the niche JRPG fanbase would swoop in for consoles if they knew one of the most prolific of studios was owned by Nintendo.

On the other hand, the price tag on that entire studio would definitely bring them to blows with Sony, who's seen a lot of support with the Persona series, and then of course Microsoft buying them could be the first step to gain a better foothold in Japan for the One.

If Nintendo wants them, more than likely a behind the scenes deal while discussing SMT x FE will happen. Given the reception to Monolith Soft and "X", I can imagine someone in their stables must be considering it or even pushing for it in the event Atlus needs the rescue.

Re: Review: Injustice: Gods Among Us (Wii U)

I feel the same about the DLC issue. The patch I feel will fix these issues. Beyond that, the game has been great. Runs great, looks great, and I'm not seeing the lag people have been complaining about for online matches. To GET to them, yes, but during the process it's been running smooth as silk. And as for the off-tv play, I actually had to fight the wife for the TV (she's neck deep in Mass Effect Trilogy) and that option makes the U version insanely worth it.

@jpfan1989:

Well the original Japanese version was a team of angels (don't think too hard on this) from different tribes based on air, water, and earth, that exhibited some absolutely fantastic racism towards each other which kept them from being a proper team.

Oh, and they power up using marketable trading cards.

Angels and trading cards.

It sounds as bad as you might think.
