Just had a proper look at the dialogue and both versions are pretty bad. I'd probably view it as an age-appropriateness issue rather than an outright unacceptableness issue though.
Not strictly sticking to the topic but I just brought my Gamecube back to life, it's such a lovely machine. A fan had died and apparently took a fuse with it so had to dismantle the whole thing to get at the fuse.
I did think it was a well-written review of a game that sounds appealing. Felt the need to say that after the brief nonsense I hope we can all leave behind us.
'There’s an actual D-pad on the left, but the rest of the design is largely unchanged'. Clearly a quick first draft of the Amazon description.
Blurb appears to be nabbed from a stuff.tv article on the subject. I've no idea why anyone could possibly be interested in this observation but I've typed it now.
I do think 'offended' gets bandied about too freely though. I'm basically impossible to offend but I do have an extremely low threshold for arseholes.
Edit to add: since posting this I've been wracking my brains to think of examples of things that offend me in order to test my statement. I've only come up with 'taking up three fold-down seats on a packed train with your sodding bike'.
You accept the mission to find the new reagent the scientist needs to create a vaccine. You find it and the new vaccine reverts to virulence and now the disease kills fifty percent of the population rather than five.
The game could be called Good Intentions or Grey Area.
You kill the despicable crime lord that rules the citadel with an iron fist and the power vacuum leads to mindless and random violence, killing the only person who knows how to repair the oxygen reclaimers. Your new quest is to sort that out.
@tr573 these morality things do tend to lack even the remotest nuance. They really need for you to come back and find they're all dead from overdoses after you give them all your money or that a thousand fantastic farmers can finally escape the sewers after you kill all the kids and end their reign of terror.
Edit to add: I just realised that I would absolutely LOVE a game where almost every decent thing you tried to do ended up with something terrible happening. You feed the starving cat, it uses it's last bit of strength to hunt its only prey animal to extinction thus dooming its entire species.
I've seen a few comments about blurriness. I'd assumed almost all VR things would be a bit blurry as the lenses couldn't realistically be all that sharp without costing a fortune, rather than it being anything to do with the number of pixels.
@PaulDuran but on a more serious note, it's more about bad information rather than differing opinions. What would you describe as yours and your family's beliefs and did they let you go on the Internet without any control?
@PaulDuran it so has. You couldn't script a better example than this thread of what I'm trying to avoid my son turning in to. This is what happens when boys are given unfettered access to the Internet before they've got a proper grounding in critical thinking.
@Stocksy that's not what I said though is it? I said I was reticent because Notch was/is an arsehole. My concern was founded on the worry that in looking for Minecraft-related things my children might stumble upon the maker and be exposed to terrible and damaging nonsense presented with the impression of it being true.
As it actually turned out, looking for Minecraft stuff brought up DanTDM mostly who seems to be a pretty good egg so my reticence was me being excessively cautious.
But besides, try suggesting in real life to someone that their approach to their children is incorrect. That goes down really well
@smashboy2000 I don't think changing the historical record and changing who is in a film are exactly the same thing. This is almost certainly a dev making a tiny change after being mildly irritated at seeing the name every tenth time he launched the game for a test.
The black and white thinking which makes the mildest thing as bad as the most terrible is exactly the worst thing about these Internet pub bores.
It's such a tricky thing. For my part I'd rather spend a few hundred and get a flawless experience but the market for people who'd spend fifty for a controller and dongle that gets them nearly flawless for a tenner a month must be huge.
@Cyberbotv2 I've been trying to describe the generational thing in terms of a rental culture where the younger people don't expect to ever own anything but it's made me a bit too depressed.
@Mr_Pepperami for me it's not so much second-hand games as being unable to leave my collection to my children. I've long ago ditched ebooks for the same reason, I do my utmost to prevent my possessions evaporating.

Re: Carry Your Nintendo Switch Lite In This Fetching Pokémon Sword And Shield Bag
I would use that as a handbag if I could get away with it.
Re: Fire Emblem: Three Houses Patch Revises Sensitive Dialogue
@LoveEmpath I have no idea of the context here but most people who say they hate censorship don't know what it is.
Re: Talking Point: Ring Fit Adventure Is A Thing, But Is It Your Sort Of Thing?
I'm fat as Christ so any exercise that doesn't involve groups or gyms or the indignity of running in public is something I'll give a go.
Re: Guide: Best Nintendo Switch Lite Accessories
I've ordered the Link's Awakening case and some Orzly screen protectors. I've got one of their's on my main Switch and it's great.
Re: Razer's New Gaming Tablet Is One Of The Most Blatant Nintendo Switch Clones Yet
On the Nintendo theme, it looks like absolute DS.
Re: Guide: Looking For Super Kirby Clash Passwords? Here Are A Few To Get You Started
@RupeeClock and @TeeJay - thanks, both. $40 is a bit steep for me at the moment but I might go for it if there's a discount at some point.
Re: Guide: Looking For Super Kirby Clash Passwords? Here Are A Few To Get You Started
Speaking of the microtransactions thing, is there a way to just pay a lump sum and turn it into a normal game?
Re: Camps, Curry And Customisations Come To Pokémon Sword And Shield
Was he saying 'curry on rice'? I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that before.

Re: Zavvi Launches New Legend Of Zelda Collection
@8bitforever sorry, couldn't help myself
(I was actually quite anxious about posting it because comments sections are often incredibly highly strung)
Re: Zavvi Launches New Legend Of Zelda Collection
@Desrever there's a green one in the full range but otherwise you're stuck with white/black/majora.

Re: Review: AER: Memories Of Old - Take To The Skies With This Captivating, Combat-Free Adventure
I did think it was a well-written review of a game that sounds appealing. Felt the need to say that after the brief nonsense I hope we can all leave behind us.
Re: Review: AER: Memories Of Old - Take To The Skies With This Captivating, Combat-Free Adventure
I think if I had to do review scores my system would be: 'Make a special effort', 'Worthwhile', 'If you're bored and it's cheap', 'Don't bother'.
Re: Review: AER: Memories Of Old - Take To The Skies With This Captivating, Combat-Free Adventure
I think most moans about reviews would be solved by ditching scores. Reading the words is enough.
Re: Random: This Legend Of Zelda Fan Is Recreating A Link To The Past In The Unity Engine
@Coalescence that does very much sound like the view of someone who has never attempted to create anything.
Re: Random: This Legend Of Zelda Fan Is Recreating A Link To The Past In The Unity Engine
I'd absolutely love to get hold of the Unity project files for this.

Definite Aardman vibe on the illustrative characters.

Re: Random: Minecraft's Creator Won't Be Invited To The Game's Anniversary Celebrations
lol, I think this time round was even worse than the previous article on the same subject. this is why normal people are reluctant to play online
Re: Random: Minecraft's Creator Won't Be Invited To The Game's Anniversary Celebrations
I think the previous article's comments section was pretty comprehensive, no need for a repeat of that tiresome spectacle.

Re: Rumour: "Cheaper Version Of The Switch" Expected To Launch By The End Of June
I suspect the 'slightly improved' model will just be to get rid of that chipset with the unfixable vulnerabilities.
Re: Rumour: "Cheaper Version Of The Switch" Expected To Launch By The End Of June
I'd definitely like a cheaper one that I wouldn't feel like I have to be quite so precious about looking after.

Re: Random: Prince Harry Thinks Fortnite Should Be Banned
I dislike Fortnite as much as the next man but I'd ban the monarchy before banning it.

Re: Pokémon Center Launches Discreet Line Of Detective Pikachu Merchandise
Aww, no UK shipping. I'd have liked the Berry Juice one.
Re: Video: Yoshi's Crafted World Is Out Today, Here's A Launch Trailer
I wasn't very keen after the demo but now I've played a few levels of the full game all doubts have been banished.

Re: Minecraft Update Removes References Of Its Creator From The Game
@PaulDuran well I was exposed to the early Internet so I win.
Re: Minecraft Update Removes References Of Its Creator From The Game
@Sandro89 once again, not what I said. It's clearly not done your critical thinking much good. Go back and re-read and see if I said denying access.

This thread has definitely proven me right, tho.
Re: Minecraft Update Removes References Of Its Creator From The Game
@Charlie_Girl I could not agree more.
Re: Minecraft Update Removes References Of Its Creator From The Game
@Agriculture yes, very good. I suppose the approach with your children is to just put them on the Internet and see what happens.

Re: Minecraft Update Removes References Of Its Creator From The Game
@Stocksy bit of an overreaction.
Re: Minecraft Update Removes References Of Its Creator From The Game
The association with that person did make me reticent to let my son play it for quite a while.
Re: Looks Like Final Fantasy VII On Switch Has Reintroduced A Bug That Was Patched Out Years Ago
I wonder if the infinite item bug is still there. That got me lots of elixirs for those cauldron monsters in the crater.

A tv-only version with built-in ethernet and the extra power required for streaming/recording. That would suit.
The Nintendo Twitch.
