Ugh the character design and the UI are not great. Sure the cutscenes look nice and polished as always, but the gameplay footage looked rough. I'm a huge fire emblem fan but this made me more worried than excited.
@BartoxTharglod I think the problem with Splatoon is that we'll have 2 versions of an online game on the same system, which will compete with itself for the same player base.
Mario kart only has 1 version on the switch. Zelda and Mario are single player games so having more of the same isn't a problem at all because single player games end, whereas online games like Splatoon and Mario kart don't.
As a casual player, I'm annoyed that this will just make it even harder to find a match in Splatoon 2, and I don't play the game enough to justify buying 3. So essentially what the new game does is killing all the interest I have left in the franchise.
I loved the art style from the screenshots, so I gave the demo a go. Unfortunately I lost all my interest in the game after playing the demo because the animations and pacing didn't do the illustrations and art style any justice. Everything felt slow and tedious and the characters felt very stiff. I'm surprised it got such a good review score, but it's still a hard pass for me.
@roy130390 I don't think I accepted any side quests? I was expecting to see the blue-haired girl by the second mission but no, three missions later, I'm basically still doing tutorials.
I really wanted to like this game because I love the art style. But after playing 3 repetitive mission without progressing the story a single bit, I've run out of patience. Won't purchase unless reviews convince me otherwise.
Awww, I guess we're not getting that Pokemon Snap in VR with the labo camera then. I bought quite a few of the labo sets and loved building them and seeing how the games work. The main reason they're sitting in a corner collecting dust is that the game is not digital and I can't be bother to swap out the cartridge just for 10 minutes of labo.
The First half of the trailer made it look like an action rpg set in the same universe, which got me very excited, then it turned out to be splatoon3, which is not that different from 2. Very disappointed.
I was confused why they made such a boring xc2 dlc trailer because it showed nothing new, then I laughed out loud when I realised it's Smash. Good pick! Definitely buying this one.
@Pirate1 Good question! I definitely bought DQXIS because of how good the demo was. This Hyrule Warriors demo is similar to that as in it's just the first chapter of the game without any restrictions, so it gives you a pretty good idea whether you'll like the full game or not.
A bad demo would be that Bravely Default II one. It shows too much of the game without any context, and the game itself wasn't polished enough yet, so I gave up after 5 minutes and decided not to buy it even though I liked the first game on the 3ds.
Just tried the first 2 missions. I quite enjoyed it. It's a Warriors game, so it's obviously not as good as BOTW, but you can tell they put a lot of effort into making this. It's just nice to see that it looks and sounds exactly like BOTW, and expands on the original story.
I've never played a Monster Hunter game apart from some demos on the 3DS, but I'm definitely intrigued. Monsters fighting each other + areas are no longer divided? Does that mean you can potentially lead bosses to fight each other?
@Kirby_Girl I'm not defending them, I'm just explaining things from a different perspective. I agree it would be nice for them to include a black character for their black customers in the west, but underrepresentation of the black community is not a problem that exists in THEIR country and THEIR personal experiences. You can make yourself heard and let them know how much it matters to you as a customer, but that's up to you to make that happen. They're not doing anything wrong because it's not their problem until you make it their problem. So I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just saying I understand why it's harder for a Japanese company to make black representation a high priority.
I like Twintelle, but.....1) she doesn't use her ARMS, so it's confusing to people who haven't the game, 2) the slow down mechanic that she has would be a nightmare to develop and balance.
Min Min on the other hand is also a popular character, but uses her arms, has a dragon arm, and deflects projectiles, which already exists in the game.
@Kirby_Girl Well here's the thing, there are very few black people that live in Asia, so I would say the market doesn't relate to black characters as well as the western market would. I'm all for representations, but Nintendo is a Japanese company, so I think it's completely ok for them to not have any black representations in their games. It's not like western games have very good Asian representations. Min Min is very cool because she actually speaks Chinese, which is definitely a first in Smash.
I was gonna wait for the first sale, but felt bad seeing it's not even in the top 20 on the eshop, so I decided to buy it today at full price. The developers should be rewarded for their commitment to making fun games that run at 1080p 60fps.

Re: Random: This Nintendo Switch UI Redesign Makes The Home Menu And eShop Look Like Apple's iOS
Looks like it's designed for touch. Just seems impossible to navigate with a controller with tiny buttons everywhere.

Re: You Can Now Download Bravely Default II's 'Final Demo' From The Switch eShop
Oh this demo is so much better than the last one!! I'm interested again
Re: Here's How Your Feedback Helped Shape Bravely Default II Ahead Of Its Release
@ancientlii Same here, the video mentions the UI issues I reported too, but the demo was so bad I just lost all the hype I had for it.
