Re: Talking Point: Has Nintendo Done Enough To Justify Splatoon 3's Existence?

jonlol

@BartoxTharglod I think the problem with Splatoon is that we'll have 2 versions of an online game on the same system, which will compete with itself for the same player base.

Mario kart only has 1 version on the switch. Zelda and Mario are single player games so having more of the same isn't a problem at all because single player games end, whereas online games like Splatoon and Mario kart don't.

Re: Review: Cris Tales - A Gorgeous Indie JRPG That Does Just Enough To Stand Out

I loved the art style from the screenshots, so I gave the demo a go. Unfortunately I lost all my interest in the game after playing the demo because the animations and pacing didn't do the illustrations and art style any justice. Everything felt slow and tedious and the characters felt very stiff. I'm surprised it got such a good review score, but it's still a hard pass for me.

Re: It Looks Like Labo Is Being Put To Rest As Nintendo Takes Down The Website

Awww, I guess we're not getting that Pokemon Snap in VR with the labo camera then.
I bought quite a few of the labo sets and loved building them and seeing how the games work. The main reason they're sitting in a corner collecting dust is that the game is not digital and I can't be bother to swap out the cartridge just for 10 minutes of labo.

Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity's Free Demo Is Available Now

@Pirate1 Good question! I definitely bought DQXIS because of how good the demo was. This Hyrule Warriors demo is similar to that as in it's just the first chapter of the game without any restrictions, so it gives you a pretty good idea whether you'll like the full game or not.
A bad demo would be that Bravely Default II one. It shows too much of the game without any context, and the game itself wasn't polished enough yet, so I gave up after 5 minutes and decided not to buy it even though I liked the first game on the 3ds.

Just tried the first 2 missions. I quite enjoyed it. It's a Warriors game, so it's obviously not as good as BOTW, but you can tell they put a lot of effort into making this. It's just nice to see that it looks and sounds exactly like BOTW, and expands on the original story.

Re: Min Min Revealed As Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Next Fighter

@Kirby_Girl I'm not defending them, I'm just explaining things from a different perspective. I agree it would be nice for them to include a black character for their black customers in the west, but underrepresentation of the black community is not a problem that exists in THEIR country and THEIR personal experiences. You can make yourself heard and let them know how much it matters to you as a customer, but that's up to you to make that happen. They're not doing anything wrong because it's not their problem until you make it their problem. So I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just saying I understand why it's harder for a Japanese company to make black representation a high priority.

I like Twintelle, but.....1) she doesn't use her ARMS, so it's confusing to people who haven't the game, 2) the slow down mechanic that she has would be a nightmare to develop and balance.

Min Min on the other hand is also a popular character, but uses her arms, has a dragon arm, and deflects projectiles, which already exists in the game.

@Kirby_Girl Well here's the thing, there are very few black people that live in Asia, so I would say the market doesn't relate to black characters as well as the western market would. I'm all for representations, but Nintendo is a Japanese company, so I think it's completely ok for them to not have any black representations in their games. It's not like western games have very good Asian representations.
Min Min is very cool because she actually speaks Chinese, which is definitely a first in Smash.
