Capcom's next release Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is arriving on the Nintendo Switch next month.
For anyone who is interested in this turn-based RPG spin-off, you might want to check out the free trial version which is now available on the Switch eShop in certain regions. It will be rolled out in other locations later today.
As explained during last week's Nintendo Treehouse, Monster Hunter Stories 2 is a great entry point into the Monster Hunter series. The demo will also give players the ability to carry their save data over to the full game when it arrives on 9th July.

Man why didn't yall say that before I clicked, I thought it came out a day early. (For me any way.)
I got my hopes up for nothing. Guess they're really making us wait for tomorrow in America right now..
to US eshop too pleasee
@VoidofLight @christ15 Sadly we have to wait tomorrow folks.
@Snatcher I'm hoping it'll at least hit at midnight, but something tells me we may have to wait for noon.
@VoidofLight Sigh
Just a reminder it's super easy to make a European account on your region free switch!
@Aurumonado It's a hassle to do though, especially since I think you need to put in a method of payment or something like that. Plus, it's a one day difference, even though it's a disappointing one day difference.
@VoidofLight You can just make an EU account for it. No need for payment options on a demo. And delete the account again after playing of it bothers you.
@Yanina I can't stand the news changing, if it doesn't change then I will be up for it, That like the only reason I don't make other accounts.
Almost had me there for a second, but I've been around here long enough to know better. Until manana then.
Will be waiting for my physical copy to get here so getting to try this game early before it arrive is nice. Even better is the fact that we could transfer our play here to the full game later on. Thank you Capcom and Square Enix, this is the kind of demo every company should be doing from now on when it comes to lengthy games with save files.
Hmm, hoping US demo is released midnight eastern time. They typically do that which is awesome for someone like myself that lives on the west coast.
@Chowdaire would it be midnight Eastern Time right now? If so, then chances are we're not getting a midnight release..
@Snatcher Yeah I hear you. My main account is Japanese … and I can't change it as long as there is money on it.
Good thing I made an EU profile beforehand Just spent a few hours as a fledgling egg thief!
oh boy cannot wait to get into this one. going to be so much fun.
Thanks, downloading it already!
And as soon as I see the demo for Neo: TWEWY later today, I'll try it as well. I love demos, and these are two of my most anticipated games.
By the way, a few days ago, a demo for Ys IX was also released, if you want to try it out too (it looks pretty good!)
Very fun so far. Feels like the original but much more polished from what I can tell
Finally, a very rare occasion where living in Europe benefits me with the eShop for once
Wow, the demo is REALLY beefy, I love the visual style, the silly humor, that fat cat. It's even more enticing than RISE in some aspects. Love MH and this is just another milestone. Love the special moves, the monster collecting. Argh. And your avatars are SO CUTE. Love it, even though mine came out "too yellow" and I hope we can change skin color later on (as of now in the demo there's no option to do so).
Done a complete spin on this game to be honest
Honestly, I'm really liking it! As others said, it feels a lot like the first one, but way more polished. The story seems quite interesting and the world beautiful. I have a very good feeling about this game.
The graphics are great too, in handheld it looks really sharp. The only thing I disliked was that the fps in the town are a bit unstable. I hope they fix this by the time it launches.
Just played it for a bit, graphically it looks stunning, even in handheld mode but I immediately noticed that the framerate is all over the place and therefore looked up a performance test on YT and it turns out that the framerate isn't locked (like many of Capcoms game) and therefore the framerate often goes from 28-40. I don't get why Capcom doesn't include a framecap that often, I'd much prefer a locked 30fps (and therefore a more constant experience) than a framerate that is all over the place
@mariomaster96 I thought the same. I guess they'll fix it by launch, and lock it at 30fps.
Haven't downloaded the demo yet, but this looks like a game that I would really enjoy! This and thps and the Eurocup will keep me busy through the summer. First time in a while I'm really excited for a new game release.
It's basically the tutorial. I really dislike tutorials in games why can't they just let us discover how to play they game on our own?
@the_beaver I'm not so sure, I think MHS1, MH World and Resident Evil 8 etc still have an unlocked framerate
Gave it a go. Looks nice but the dialogue is extremely cheesy and I really can't handle that. Gameplay is mehh for me. And the setting was a bit too Sun and Moon for me as well. The controls felt terrible to me too. All in all a hard pass for me. But to everyone who loves it, enjoy!!
@luckiernut they tried that before with other monster hunter titles, and not many people could get into them because of the games being way too complicated.
played the demo and the game seems fun but the framerate can be really distracting, while adding a cap to it would make things feel more stable there were still a few moments when it felt like it was going into sub-30 frames and it made exploring feel somewhat less enjoyable and can get especially rough when rotating the camera in town.
I already preordered, but excited for the demo! After watching the Nintendo Treehouse play it looked great!
Guys, remember that the demo for Neo: TWEWY is also out!
@Scollurio You can change appearance again by heading to your house and clicking on the treasure chest.
@invictus4000 Thank you, I know, but not skin color, or am I missing something?
The first one was already fantastic and this one already shows many improvements since the start. Favourite monster/character collecting rpg for me.
@Diogmites thanks thanks, i am downloading this now👍
@Snatcher thanks for the info, this is great!
Started playing the demo last night. Really enjoying it. The dialogue is cheesy but that seems to be all Monster Hunter games from what I've seen. Other than that, i love the look of this game.
The framerate was too choppy and uneven, and the camera controls feel really weird to me that I'm going to pass. The framerate is mostly around 20fps, and I've seen it go as low as 14fps and higher in rare situations where there is not much to render, or in menus or the map screen. I wish it wasn't a switch console exclusive. It would probably look gorgeous on my xbox series x.
There is a PC version... but I don't PC game very much these days.
Maybe I'm just spoiled that I can play everything on my Series X in 60fps, but this game should have been a 30fps lock with a 60fps option at 720p or something. Frame rate is important to me. Why Does Mario Odyssey run so well yet this game runs so poorly? :/
I really wanted to like this game because I love the art style. But after playing 3 repetitive mission without progressing the story a single bit, I've run out of patience. Won't purchase unless reviews convince me otherwise.
@jonlol I'm a bit confused about your situation. Side missions are optional, and every main missions advances the plot.
@roy130390 I don't think I accepted any side quests? I was expecting to see the blue-haired girl by the second mission but no, three missions later, I'm basically still doing tutorials.
@jonlol The first main missions work as a tutorial but are really fast to do and kind of a necessity considering that many people don't get the gripes of the game otherwise. You are also progressing in the story within each mission.
