I think this article should have heavier warnings about what is most likely a misleading listing from Amazon. I'd hate to think how this reflects on Nintendo Life if readers go and buy this only to discover it was (as most who interrogate the listing with any caution will conclude) a code in box re-release.
We’re looking for grips to use when playing games with individual joycon. Can these just be used in that manner? There are a tonne of licensed 3rd party options but I’m a stickler for official options and Nintendo don’t seem to offer any beyond this wheel option. A joy con, even with the strap, simply isn’t ergonomic enough for extended play.
Scarlet/Violet (Switch 2 Enhanced) was the first Pokémon game since Silver that I can say I have absolutely loved. I'm afraid nothing about this looks particular interesting or exciting to me. My favourite thing is exploring, hunting and training to evolve and fill the Pokédex. I know this will have that (hopefully) but being city based and all from the trailers so far it looks like its going to be far more focused on community/relationships with NPC and other lifestyle sim rpg elements (I cant say I've ever bought any clothing in a pokemon game - or cared).
Frankly I'd rather they enhance Arceus for Switch 2. That looked interesting but performance on Switch 1 prevented me trying it.
for what its worth I've played the following (all at launch):
Blue (loved) Yellow (fine - probably didnt need to play so soon after blue) Silver (loved) Crystal (fine - probably didnt need to play so soon after silver) Diamond (got bored and dropped it)
{big multi year gap}
Let's Go Pikachu (enjoyed - nostalgia) Sword (hated) Shining Pearl (fine, enjoyed slightly more than the first time i played gen 4) Scarlet (loved)
I can't decide whether the camera issues takes a point off of 10, or whether its a 10 regardless given there is absolutely no way they could possibly have perfected or fool proofed the camera in a game that allows this level of claustrophobic carnage.
If this sells a third (10mil) of Odyssey's life time sales (30mil) then that will be a huge success for Nintendo and Donkey Kong. Tropical Freeze sold 4.6mil, so with this launching at 3x the popularity of Freeze at launch, and clearly being positioned as the big single player first party launch period game, that 10mil might be a sensible expectation over the life time. Great news for Nintendo.
£395 for a system that will play the next 7-10 years of Nintendo first party developed games.
A system that will also continue to enable play the last 8 years of Nintendo first party developed games (with improved technical performance).
And perhaps a system that may be increasingly seen as a core platform for third party AAA developers and publishers in a way the previous (excellent) Nintendo system was not.
Honestly, I think it’s a fantastic deal.
I stand with everyone else on individual game pricing, that tech demo manual costing $10, and third party publishers using Key Cards. That is all disappointing but frankly not entirely unexpected. I think £65 RRP for games at launch is about standard for other current gen consoles. It remains to be seen whether Curry’s continue to do their excellent 25% off pre-order incentives.
Its simply ridiculous that the last major 1st party release on a system (and based on the world's biggest IP) looks not just worse, but significantly, epically worse than the day one 1st party release from 8 years ago (which itself was developed for previous system and ported). Yes I am asking why this latest, final big Pokemon Switch game looks so much worse than Breath of the Wild.
And look, I'm not a graphics junky, but it seems this is suffering not even just in polygon count and performance, but simply in lacking, uninspired art design. Personally - I'd have loved Pokemon to return to beautiful HD pixel art format and ditch the 3D that gamefreak clearly has no taste for.
At this point I’d be ecstatic if they just re-released certain games at full RRP. There are a tonne of games from early-mid life cycle that are no longer in print and run for well above RRP if looking to buy new and sealed.

Re: Missed Out On Castlevania Anniversary, Advance & Dominus Collection Physical Editions? Fear Not, As Pre-Orders Have Gone Live On Play-Asia
Anyone know why some digital only games which get physical releases on limited run end up getting physical releases via usual market channel in UK?
For instance, both tomb raider collections, shredder's revenge, legacy of kain, etc all got standard retailer releases in the UK
