@iammikegaines yeah, it's really silly because 8bitdo already has controllers that are 1-for-1 remakes of the SF controller. Kinda figured NL would already know this... Not like the N64 was an obscure console.
The one you're claiming is based on the Super Famicom controller is based on the N64 controller. It has the blue A and green B, X and Y are yellow like the C buttons, and red start/select buttons. Dunno how you managed to not notice that...
Well, that's nice. I actually preferred Mario Run's payment method, and I ended up getting it (after using a survey app to get $10 in the playstore). Nintendo themselves said they prefer the Free to Start method, even if the F2P model is generally more profitable.
I know there's a lot of people going on about how they already have Mario Kart 8 DX, or that they should be working on a new Mario Kart for Switch instead, but I'll address both:
1. I think the purpose of Mario Kart Tour is to get people into Mario Kart (or back into it), who either haven't played it, or haven't touched it since the N64. Of course we all have the most recent Mario Kart games- because we're Nintendo fans. But the point of these mobile games is to expand Nintendo's reach. They made that pretty loud and clear when they were getting started on this stuff.
2. Y'all really think the Mario Kart dev team is working on a mobile game? More likely they're working on a new project (maybe something different, just like how they did ARMS). We'll probably see another Mario Kart for Switch in 2020-21.
Well, if it's a functioning Switch cartridge- or you buy it digitally on the eShop- then I have to assume that yes, it will work on the Switch. It probably won't work if it's for a different system though.
@SaKo I think a lot of it has to do with harsh grading scales in schools. Most people are used to associating a 6/10 and below as a failing grade (when I was in school, anything below a 70 was a failing grade). I've had to separate myself from that mindset and realize that something like a 5/10 means, "Well, it's average. It's not good but it's not exactly bad either."
My own bit of advice: if you want to play a warrior type, don't overlook being a Breton. Orc, Redguard, and Nord are all geared toward the archetype from the start and are fantastic choices in their own rights, but Bretons get 25% resistance against hostile magic as a passive ability, which is a great ability for any role, really. That, along with equipping heavy armor, and you'll be a tank. They might start with lower levels in warrior/thief abilities, but they'll be easy to level up since they won't require much XP to get them up to a respectable level.
Of course there's gonna be an Animal Crossing on Switch at some point, maybe even announced next year. But Jesus Christ y'all, look how much has been coming out for the Switch in just a year, between first party, third party, and indie releases. And we already know some major titles that'll be releasing in '18. Honestly, I wouldn't even want one that soon because I need time to enjoy the stuff that's currently coming out, some of which I won't get for a while because my bank account isn't infinite.
This definitely seems like something to try to get some more people into the series who may not have ever touched it before. Heck, before New Leaf, I had zero interest in the series and only got NL because my girlfriend and other friends were. It also seems like something just really nice for when I'm on break at work or something. Granted, I've been replaying NL a good bit so I don't know how much time I'd personally spend on it.
To be honest, I disagree, just because I find the clunky controls of the original to be part of what makes it fun- that you can't just rely on easy controls to mindlessly go through the phases. I find that the GBA versions kind of just removed any sense of that challenge since they used modern Mario physics. To each their own, though.
Mario Bros is one of my favorite arcade games, but... I'll wait for a hopeful My Nintendo deal on it. I already have the NES version on my Wii U and that's good enough for me for the time being. Wish I still had my NES copy because I have no idea what happened to that...
I would've liked gyro aiming, because I find it way easier than using a joystick to aim, but it's not a deal breaker. I also don't find the resolution to be an issue (I mean it's one of those things I feel like is pointless to get all bent out of shape about) and from what I've heard from people who got to go hands-on with it, the framerate is fine.
Confused why the article says it's unsurprising that it's not included, though. After all, Skyrim- from the same company- has it.
The game is gorgeous, like a blend between FF6 and Tactics. I just wish they didn't make you watch an entire movie before letting you control your character. And then also just have you barely walk around before even more cutscenes happens. I always preferred the old school RPGs that just let you... hit the ground running. Just pop the game in and go.
@TheGameSquid ah yes, because everyone grew up with the SNES and if they didn't, they just have the time to scope eBay for all of these games, and it's not like anyone has to worry about rent, bills, groceries, prescriptions, etc. (Psst you'll spend way more than $80 just trying to get a few of these games, especially the RPGs.) It's $4 per game- not counting Star Fox 2, which is an absurdly good bonus- and it's really convenient for space management. All my shelves are so jam-packed that I don't even have room for SNES games on them, which means digging through old boxes for them.
I already own most of the games on the SNES Classic and it's possible for anyone else to with some time and patience, so normally it wouldn't be anything worth worrying about. Except! We don't know the future of how Star Fox 2 will be handled. All we know now is that this will be the only way to play the actual completed version, and it will be hard to get one. I mean, sure, it's hard to find a Switch depending where you are, but also we're pretty sure Nintendo will be producing Switches past 2017.
Hey guys, just remember that even though it's by the people that did the Castlevania on 3DS, that was overseen by Konami. This may be the same development team but it's being overseen by Nintendo this time.
Considering picking up Street Fighter Alpha 2 to have SF on the go. It'll probably be a little while until I get Ultra SF2 on Switch- I'll wait for it to drop to, say, $20 (this is incidentally my feelings on a lot of Switch titles, mostly because I need to budget). Being able to get Alpha 2 for like, roughly $4.80 doesn't seem that bad of a deal, though.
I'm just gonna say it. People are overreacting to the $300 price tag. Do you know how expensive consoles have been in the past? There's literally never been a console in the Playstation line that was under $300 at launch. Both the PS1 and PS2 were $300. The PS1 was released in 1995 and was the same price. I don't need to remind anyone what the PS3 originally cost. People have been acting like it's still 1990 here, expecting the thing to be $200 like the NES and SNES were. It's literally only $50 more than the Wii was at launch, for hardware that's significantly better.
At any rate, I do agree that's it on Nintendo to make this thing sell. But I don't know where people are getting this idea that the Switch isn't ready for its first year, because if you've been paying attention to recent updates, Switch has been getting more and more launch titles announced over the past week and more stuff is constantly announced in general to come in 2017. I think it'll be just fine. I do think that third parties aren't entirely blameless, though. I could easily see EA trying to step out, for example. Third parties aren't automatically paragons of fair and good business and they've done shady stuff before.
I highly, very highly, doubt it's in the Wind Waker timeline, because there's too many things going against it. First of all, if the Koroks spread their plants all over to rebuild a whole new world (and I don't think that would inherently work anyway, especially because I don't think the koroks can plant CLIFFS AND MOUNTAINS), why would it conveniently be called Hyrule when no one knew what Hyrule was anymore, and why would buildings such as the Temple of Time exist? Hell, why would Ganon be around when he has a sword stuck in his forehead, is turned to stone, and he's at the bottom of the ocean? And speaking of swords, why would the Master Sword be featured as rusted and forgotten in the forest (where it was found in Twilight Princess and ALttP, neither of which are located in the Adult Timeline) if it was lost forever in Wind Waker? And the old man? It's really on the nose, guys- they've blatantly said this game is meant to be Zelda 1. It's mirroring the old man who gave you the wooden sword! He's wearing a robe because, oh, the old man wore a robe too. He says he's no one important because he's just a hermit who spends his time reminiscing about the old days. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, guys. This doesn't mean he's the former king or Ganon or whatever. He's just there to give the player some opening background information to let the player know that this land used to be something much more special.
The child or decline timelines are the two more obvious options. It could be post-Twilight Princess, effectively when Hyrule entered a more modern age but things sorta went bad and the land became barren and wild, hence why Link has the advanced technology of the Sheikah, but is still living like a caveman to survive. It would also explain the techno magic-y presence of the Guardians. That, or it's a soft reboot and is meant to just be the new Zelda 1. I don't know if it will be post Zelda 2, if only because Z2 implies that Hyrule was back on track to returning to its former glory, but I could see it.
Not gonna lie, most of this stuff looks...really terrible. Some of the designs are okay but it's mostly super tacky and if I want clothing that's video game themed, I tend to go for stuff that doesn't advertise some clothing brand I don't care about. It's obnoxious that it can't just be a "Donkey Kong shirt" or a "Legend of Zelda shirt", it has to be a Vans shirt first, video game shirt second. Additionally, those prices are highway robbery while we're at it... Pretty sure you could commission people for better designs at a much cheaper price
