I don't understand. I "get" the retro appeal but wouldn't it be better if they were building a new HD (well as far as the Wii can go) 2D Mega Man game?
I don't see why they can't make a game with the same physics as a NES game but just reskin it in HD or something? Isn't that the natural progression now. Sure I love the retro look but...
@KnucklesSonic8: playing this game reminded me of the awful pain I got from trying to play Banana Blitz. Just never worked for me - straight up hurt to be honest.
I reckon if you could play a painless game of BB you might be ok with the controls here.
@Starfox_UK: Sadly no "puzzle mode" (as you appear to be reffering to) but I'm not sure whether it would work so hot with this type of game. This is definitely a fast and furious kind of puzzler and I think the modes that are included reflect that.
Hang on, hang on. XBOX Live Arcade is filled with shovelware so I definitely don't think they are doing it right. PSN hold back releases to make it look they've got a constant steady stream. Looks to me Nintendo are doing a similar thing with WiiWare. They should set release dates though.
Can I please just clarify for everyone that says this game has scoreboards. It has rankings for the Wi-Fi battle but as far as I am aware there is certainly no way of getting a high-score in single-player and then sending it to a scoreboard. Singleplayer is basically "what's the best score you can get?" gameplay and therefore a SCOREBOARD here is essential. Hence the point in my review. If I've overlooked that SCOREBOARD then Nintendo must have seriously hidden it because all I see is a meaningless LEADERBOARD for the Wi-Fi battles.
@Simbabbad: I appreciate your comments. I reviewed the game as I see fit. If we share a difference of opinion then fair enough. I'm glad you're enjoying the game.
Germ Buster essentially shares the same gameplay mechanics and no amount of falling objects or messy co-op change that for me.
@ Simbabbad: There are only multiplayer rankings (which in my opinion do not showcase who is best and worst at the game in any way). There appears to be no way of showcasing your highscore in the single player mode.
Also you must take into consideration the value for money aspect. Pop is cheaper and so is rated on its merits as value for money.
@Raptor - You're not wrong in saying that the online works exceptionally well. I haven't had trouble match-making yet. Some people are blimming good though aren't they? Damn you "Chris" whoever you are.
That's the one Masterless. The gameplay mechanics frustrated a lot of people but I loved it that way. The storyline and general atmosphere are unmatched too.
But (I can't comment on the original GTA games) in this iteration of GTA you definitely don't just run around blowing stuff up. There is a fair deal of variation.
I'm so torn. GTA4 is a very, very, very good game in a different way to OOT. GTA4 has definitely set the standard in story telling, character development and voice acting for me.
I hate the way it pretty much tells you what to do all the time however. It's not as flawless as some reviews have stated but it's still up there - right up there.
Erm - I see where you are coming from but - it's still considered to be one of the best gaming franchises (not most popular, we're going off genuine credit and accolade for the games) ever.

Re: Top Spin 3 Has Spun On To Wii
NintendoLife.com love Miss. Sharapova.
Re: Nintendo Euro Release Dates
There's a lot there but very little that is particularly interesting. E3 really cannot come quick enough.
Re: Review: Alone in the Dark
Very disappointing.
Re: Play Alone, In The Dark, Today
Offiicial Nintendo Magazine dubbed it "the biggest disappointment of the year". Read the review here:

Re: Review: Block Breaker Deluxe
I think I have this game on my phone.
Re: EU WiiWare Update: Block Breaker Deluxe and Cocoto Fishing Master
No VC games again? I'm quite surprised by that.
Re: Wii Fit Inspires New YouTube Craze
Oh yes. Oh hell yes. I love this news.
Re: Luc Bernard Talks Eternity's Child, Rose Princess and Uwe Boll
Anyone else think he looks like Russel Brand?
Re: Hands-On With Eternity's Child
God this game looks good.
Re: Nintendo: "Hard Drives Are For Geeks"
The thing is - he's actually telling the truth.
Re: Luc Bernard Talks Eternity's Child, Rose Princess and Uwe Boll
He comes across very arrogant in that interview. In saying that he totally believes in what he's doing and he's speaking his mind which I respect.
This game looks amazing. Can't wait for it.
Re: Your Almost Alone In The Dark
PS3 gamers must wait until October. Frame rate issues apparently.
Re: The Making Of The World Of Goo
That video is absolutely incredible.

Re: Review: Magnetica Twist
I've no idea why they didn't use pointing you know. It does seem like the obvious choice.
Re: EU WiiWare Update: Actionloop Twist
Zuma came out many years after the original PuzzLoop which this game is a sequel of. By the way - I really like it.

Re: WiiWare World Finds Fame On German TV!
Hahaha. That was awesome. Well done to Damien, Darren, Ant and everywhere who contributes here (including all those who comment).
Re: Capcom Say No To A Wii Street Fight
The game looks good graphically but I personally HATE the character models.
I'm more interested in the Street Fighter 2 HD Remix to be honest.
Re: Review: We Ski
It sounds awesome playing with the balance board.
Re: Sega Announce PictoImage
If you can play it online it would be cool?
Re: Guitar Hero: World Tour Adds Drum Support
This Guitar Hero/Rock Band is getting ridiculous. All games specifically require their own hardware and surely one set of drums is enough.
These games will always be superior on PS3/XBOX360 because of their respective store downloads.
Re: Review: Dr. Mario Online RX
I've only been disconnected from Wi-Fi once out of 100 battles zueriHB. Must just be an unlucky connection with opponents
Re: Review: Iron Man
I dunno what the PS3 and 360 versions of this game are like. I've heard they might be better.

Re: World of Goo - New info and screenshots
The artwork is bloody brilliant.
Re: Review: Dr. Mario Online RX
It's really easy to jump into a game. Couple of minutes ABSOLUTE maximum. 10 or so seconds average.

Re: WiiWare Is Here
What did everyone get?
Re: Review: Star Soldier R
The question is - is it anywhere near as good as Super Stardust HD because it's a little more expensive isn't it?
Re: Toki Tori - Gameplay Trailer
I'm not really interested in this one.
Re: Star Soldier R and Critter Round-Up hit the USA today
Star Soldier R looks ok but it's certainly not looking like a Super Stardust (PS3) beater is it? And that game (I believe) is cheaper?

Re: Excited About WiiWare?
I hate it when that happens. :@
All fixed now
Re: MadWorld: Light-hearted Brutality
This game looks seriously awesome.
Re: Dr Mario WiiWare pulling a sickie?
I hope this comes tomorrow. This is the one I've been waiting for.
Re: Shenmue 1 & 2 Coming To The Wii?
Shenmue. Second best game ever. I'd rather this is a third iteration BUT - I'll buy an update of 1+2. It's just that good.
Re: On My First Wii-stle...

Re: Is Ocarina Of Time About To Become 2nd Best?
OOT is now - the second best game ever.
Re: Is Ocarina Of Time About To Become 2nd Best?
I've played GTA4 for a good 4 or 5 hours now and while its not as polished as expected it is very good.
