Re: Review: Sonic Lost World (Wii U)

brucelebnd

the vast majority on Miiverse seem to like the game a lot but it's hard and the controls take some time to adjust to.

to me this sounds a lot like Wonderful 101 which is a good thing. I'm buying it day one in NA.

Re: Review: Sonic Lost World (Wii U)

brucelebnd

IGN reviews are garbage, everybody knows they only give the highest scores to the games that buy the most AD space, sorry but that is a documented fact.

some reviewers (not this site 7 is a good score) they whine about games being too hard and not taking the time to master the physics of that game.

can anybody here imagine how NES games would be reviewed by modern reviewers. Men Mega's controls are just too stiff, the game requires perfect platform jumping and the their are just too many enemies

Mega Man for the NES gets 4.4

it's just plain ridiculous

Re: Nintendo Download: 17th October (North America)

brucelebnd

let's just face it the Wii U VC just sucks. you really can't put it any other way. what Nintendo should have done was to integrate the existing Wii VC on the Wii U. so gamers would play all of their old titles on the gamepad. some wiiware motion games wouldn't but they are not the majority of games.

this way Nintendo could have focused on bring NEW titles to the Wii U VC, you know like Gamecube, GBA and the like.

but NO

Nintendo wants to bleed every dollar they can out of their LOYAL fans and giving us pretty terrible titles like Vegas Strikes, Golf, Tennis, Urban Champions and the like. and when they do release a good game they force us to pay $1 or more just to play a game we already own on the gamepad.

I'm sorry but Nintendo is just being greedy and the Wii U VC is suffering because of it.

Re: Rayman Legends And Splinter Cell Blacklist Both Sold Less Than Expected, Says Ubisoft

brucelebnd

Splinter Cell was a rushed and buggy/glitchy game. why on earth would anybody spend $60 on a crappy product. now after fixing some of the 20+ bugs it's playable.

so that's Ubi's fault for trying to sell a product before it was finished.

as for Rayman. I would have bought it if it had come out in Feb. as of now I didn't because of games like W101, LZWW, so it became a secondary priority.

Ubi should have released Rayman on Wii U first then the other systems but Microsoft didn't want the game to be released earlier so Ubi caved.

Ubi has only itself to blame really

Re: Watch_Dogs Pushed Back to Spring 2014

brucelebnd

I think this is great news.

1. it gives Ubi more time to refine the game. I will wait for a better game

2. It gives me time to buy other games. Sonic Lost World, AC4, Arkham Origins, Mario 3D, Lego Marvel Super Heroes and a lot of others.

good move on Ubi's part.

Re: Nintendo Download: 17th October (Europe)

brucelebnd

Nintendo really seems to be pushing early NES games for some reason. maybe they are cheaper to port??

Wii U's VC seems like such a HUGE set back compared to the Wii's VC. In my opinion Nintendo is just doing the Wii U VC on the cheap until the install base increases.

sure they throw early adopters a bone every now and then but as a whole the Wii U VC is garbage with 80% of the title hardly worth $1 let alone $5

Re: Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut Will Cost $20 More On Wii U Than On PS3 And 360

brucelebnd

It's so hard to support 3rd parties when you own a Nintendo because you get over charged, receive gimped ports, never get the DLC, and the online play is buggy at best or even better non existent.

so why would any fan of Nintendo support 3rd parties when they obviously don't care about making quality games for Nintendo?

why would anybody buy an inferior product? I'll support 3rd parties if they make good games at a fair price but I will never buy a gimped port just so 3rd parties will make games for Nintendo. I'd rather have nothing

Re: Talking Point: The Steam Gaming Machines Are An Unconventional Challenge to the Wii U

brucelebnd

honestly I don't think it will do much.

dedicated PC gamers are a different breed, ask one of them to play an FPS on console and they'll scoff at you. they like what the PC offers for controls. they spend time and money on their rigs. it's a different culture and I don't think it will cross over.

secondly DRM is on Steam. people hated it about the XBox One so much so that microsoft took it off. is Steam going to do the same?

Re: EA Executive: Shigeru Miyamoto is 'Falling Down on the Job'

brucelebnd

@Gamer83

lol maybe...

what I find the funniest is that EA can take hit after hit and nobody in the gaming industry says anything about.

in 2012 they lost $381 million, this year they are laying off 10% of their workforce

http://kotaku.com/layoffs-at-ea-today-481149396

but nobody is out there saying EA is doomed when all indicators point to it.

Nintendo did lose $500 million last year but returned to profit in 1 quarter but Nintendo is dead blah blah blah.

Re: Nintendo Treehouse Staff Reveal The Process Behind Choosing Which Games To Localise

brucelebnd

The Demo of the Wonderful 101 is what killed that game.

the controls are frustrating at best. even after you figure them out. the drawing isn't exactly precise and that's frustrating when you're trying to combo with some of the more exotic weapons.

having intense action is great but when the controls aren't precise, it really hurts the game play.

people had high hopes for the game but it didn't live up to them and that's why it isn't selling well. if the controls were more precise then it'd be amazing but it's hard to sell people on a game with broken controls . that's always been the case even back in the 8 bit days

Re: Nintendo Treehouse Staff Reveal The Process Behind Choosing Which Games To Localise

brucelebnd

@element187

but they do localize games. look at the Operation Rainfall games

Nintendo published and localize The Last Story and Pandora's Tower but only for the PAL region. so they spend the money on the process. They totally blew off the NA region. it was XSeed who brought The Last Story and Pandora's Tower to NA.

The Last Story sold twice as much in NA as PAL but Nintendo of America just didn't want to be bothered. it's not like they didn't already spend the money on localization either because they did.

they are niche games and Nintendo localizes them in the PAL reigon but not NA? NA usually has better sales than Japan and PAL but Nintendo of America just ignores a fan base. it isn't like they don't spend the money because they do or it wouldn't have been localized for the PAL region

Re: Nintendo Treehouse Staff Reveal The Process Behind Choosing Which Games To Localise

brucelebnd

@element187 niche groups buy consoles. I know a lot of people bought a Wii just for Xenoblade Chronicles and the Last Story.

Nintendo didn't even release the Last Story in NA, it was XSeed. Nintendo paid for localization but totally ignored a market that usually out sells Japan and the EU, that's just stupid.

they did the same with Another Code R and Day of Disaster. granted they wouldn't have made Nintendo much money but they already spent the money to localize it. why not try to cater to niche fans when they're already spending the money anyway.

Project X and Fire Emblem will be great and I'll buy them. Nintendo does a good job on the handheld side of things but with the consoles they're been awful since the N64

Re: Nintendo Treehouse Staff Reveal The Process Behind Choosing Which Games To Localise

brucelebnd

Nintendo is idiotic when he comes to localizing games. take Day of Disaster as an example. they take the trouble to localize Day of Disaster into english but only release it in Europe and it sells 20k copies, sure it would have at least done that in NA...

really if you want to play JRPGs or niche Japanese games you'll own a Sony system. Nintendo has basically abandoned that market on its consoles years ago.

people had to beg Nintendo for Xenoblade, they released Last Story in Europe but if it wasn't for XSeed it would have never come to NA. who know how many years people begged Nintendo for Earthbound and how many years it took them to release a game, already localized, on the VC.

I have little faith in Nintendo to localize anything when it comes to their consoles, if they do I buy it but that's pretty rare. they're great with the handhelds but the consoles since the N64 on have largely been forgotten

Re: Crowdfunding Campaign Launched for Licensed River City Ransom Sequel

brucelebnd

unless fans support this it won't be coming to any Nintendo platform. Nintendo already has a couple of Kunio Kun games on the 3DS but in Japan only.

Nekketsu Kouha Kunio-Kun SP: Rantou Kyousoukyoku for the 3DS is like a River CIty Ransom 2

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWtiYfvXano

and they also remade Renegade which is the 1st in the Kunio Kun series for the 3DS

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_1XxXnXSCo

to the best of my knowledge they aren't being localized. i'd buy these two and the RC underground but I won't be getting my hopes up

Re: Talking Point: Gamescom Announcements Raise the Stakes for the Wii U and 3DS

brucelebnd

Nintendo needs to lower the price and make it a more economical option then the PS3 and 360 because right now it isn't.

yes I know Wii U is "next gen" along with the ps4 and xbox1 but the public perception is that it isn't. the public view is that it is last gen tech labeled as next gen. I don't care to argue the specs but in marketing perception is reality and currently the Wii U isn't an economically an attractive offer.

Nintendo should realize that outside of the "fanboys" most of the people who buy Nintendo are either families or gamers looking for an auxiliary console. Family buyers are going to be looking for the best deals which the Wii U isn't and gamers looking to pick up Nintendo exclusives probably won't shell out $349 plus the price of a game in order to buy a Wii U.

at the end of the day it comes down to price. if Nintendo won't budge on the price I honestly don't see them selling many more units this holiday season because most of the "fanboys" already own a Wii U.

if they dropped the price of the Wii U to something like $250 then everybody would own one.

Re: Zombie Title How to Survive Confirmed for the Wii U eShop, Without Online Multiplayer

brucelebnd

no online is fine with me, however I don't think I should have to pay full price. they want to do a half a$sed port then they should price it accordingly.

I think NIntendo has a lot to do with it by way of Quality Control. Capcom's D&D game is being held up because the online functions don't meet to Nintendo's high standards. I guess a lot of these 3rd parties don't really care about the quality of the games they put on and figure they can just patch it after the sale instead of putting out a quality product.

IDK it does make it hard for me to want to buy a game from a publisher who doesn't give 2 ***** about you.

Re: Satoru Iwata Cites Poor Basic Wii U Sales To Rule Out Price Cut Benefits

brucelebnd

so for the price of a Wii U basic can I get a PS3 legacy bundle for the same price. that includes 2 games, a controller and 500GB of memory. the Wii U basic has no games and 8GB and is the same price.

if I wasn't a Nintendo fan I wouldn't buy a Wii U just because it's too expensive for what it is. so price is an issue. the value just isn't there for the non nintendo fanboys. the Wii U basic should be $200 MAX and the deluxe maybe $275.

nobody wanted to buy the 3DS at $249 but once they dropped it by $80 and people started buying it. Iwata can spin it however he wants but if he wants the public to buy the Wii U they need to suck it up and drop the price

Re: Nintendo Feels That Working On Smartphones And Tablets Would "Decrease Brand Value"

brucelebnd

gaming on mobile devices kind of reminds of when the gaming market crashed back in the early 80s. I know it isn't exactly the same situation but one comparison can be made

back then the market was flooded with horrible games and today the vast majority of phone games are terrible. they have absolutely ZERO quality control. don't get me wrong quality can be found but new and original games are few and far between. the best mobile devices are offering are usually just retro reboots. I know somebody will probably list a dozen good and innovative games but they're still buried in a mountain of shovelware.

Re: Feature: EarthBound Captivates Miiverse

brucelebnd

if you like JRPGs you'll love the game is the best SNES JRPG? no of course not it's has some heady competition like Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana and FF 2+3 (or 4 and 6 for the anal person who will point out what everybody already knows)

it's worth a pick up though if you like JRPGs

Re: Activision Committed To Doing 'Everything It Can' To Support Wii U

brucelebnd

I'm not really interested in any of those games but it's good to see some games coming to the Wii U.

fanboys will hate on those games but COD is a huge franchise and all the kids games make total sense.

this Christmas someone might buy a Wii U for their kid, picking up Skylanders or Sponge Bob for the kids and maybe COD for someone older in the house or for themselves.

people who buys those games don't really comment on sites like this nor do they follow every tid bit of Nintendo news. for buyers like brand recognition means a lot more than anything else.

Re: Departing Eidos Montreal Boss Says Square Enix "Has Some Things To Learn" About Selling Games

brucelebnd

he has a point. Sleeping Dogs is a great sandbox style game but went totally under the radar. Deus Ex is not a bad game either. I think problem is nothing makes them stand out on the PS3 or Xbox 360, they're good games but seriously both systems have a glut of similar games. and quite honestly if you are a madden/COD type gamer neither of those games will appeal to you and they're like 80% of the people who own a Xbox.

Re: Talking Point: Pikmin 3 Shows the First Shoots of the Wii U's Planned Recovery

brucelebnd

plus I find it funny how some are writing off the Wii U when it's sales up to this point are better than those of the 360 or PS3 at the same point after their respective releases.

also the pre order number for the PS4 and Xbox one are that great. if you look though the hyperbole "it sold a 1000 units a minute" people are basing most of the hype on what ranking they are on amazon but with hard numbers.

VGChartz reported as of june 20th the PS4 has sold 75k and Xbox 1 has sold 45K in the US.

the Wii U has 1.2 million pre order buys

it takes a level head to look though the hype.

BTW Pikman 3 looks AWESOME!

Re: Talking Point: Pikmin 3 Shows the First Shoots of the Wii U's Planned Recovery

brucelebnd

the biggest news for Nintendo is the fact that China will probably lift it's ban on video game consoles. I've read the Chinese govt. will probably heavily regulate what games are allowed to be sold.

who's games are more family friendly then Nintendo?

Microsoft doesn't sell well in Asia and Sony doesn't have the 1st party games like Nintendo. the Wii U is going to steam roll the comp.

Re: Ubisoft CEO Admits ZombiU Sales Were Disappointing, No Plans For Sequel

brucelebnd

what did they expect for a rushed game like Zombiu? yeah it was a decent game but you can tell they didn't do much to refine it. it could have been amazing. so what do they expect?

the game was supposed to be "Killer freaks from outer space" which was basically a FPS with rabbids. then they scrapped the rabbids and put zombies in it. that's why the game is so disjointed. it was meant to be something else but changed because they thought zombies would sell. all the time they wasted changing it could have went into making a better game and more people would have bought it

Re: Pachter: Nintendo Has Lost Its "Mojo"

brucelebnd

Nintendo is a way better deal.

PS4 is $399, but if you want to buy a game that's another $70 and you have to buy at least one game to play on it or you just have a box.

PS4 is really $469

the same logic applies to the Xbox 1. $499+70 game

Xbox one is $569

while the Wii U is $349 with a game, you can even buy the Zombii U bundle $389 and still save $100 dollars.

you can probably add another $50 for PSN or XBL service
so really the Xbox 1 is around $610 and the PS4 around $510

while the Wii U is $349.

Re: Pachter: Nintendo Has Lost Its "Mojo"

brucelebnd

this guy is on the MS pay roll so I don't know why anybody listens.

just check the pre order sales of both the Xbox 1 and PS4, VGChartz has them both around 75k units pre ordered in the US. just check the games pre orders, most are around 30k. amazon said it sold 2500 a minute but what it didn't say was for how long.

the Wii U already has about 4 million units out there and has sold better at this point than the 360 or PS3, when they were 1st launched.

Wii U is going to be huge this holiday and the guy on the MS pay roll aka pachter will say "Nintendo is doomed"

Re: Nintendo Download: 4th July (North America)

brucelebnd

June basically sucked besides a couple of megaman games.

Vegas Strikes??? why waste the time and money.

Mario Bros, Spelunker, Wrecking Crew and Yoshi. fine games but hardly "showcase".

they better do something because they are screwing over early supporters of the wii U.

Re: Nintendo Download: 4th July (North America)

brucelebnd

wow another awful week. no D&D? because Nintendo messed up.... Nintendo likes to say games drive the hardware well if that's the case then the eShop and wii U vc are dead until further notice.

I want to give you my money Nintendo but i guess you don't want it.

Re: Iwata: More Unannounced Third Party Titles Will Come

brucelebnd

a lot of non A list 3rd parties games have been announced.

Medium, Angry Birds Trilogy, Putty Squad, Mysterious Cities of Gold, Jett Tailfin, and others.

nothing that's going to wow anybody but it's something. but what people forget about are the indie devs who do support the Wii U. they are technically 3rd parties.

people complain all the time about big 3rd party studios playing it safe and repackaging the games, so who cares if the Wii U misses out on some of those? I'd rather have indie support because they usually make better games.

Re: Ubisoft Scaling Back Support For Wii U, Expects Price Cut To Bolster Sales

brucelebnd

people seriously need to relax.

translation. Ubisoft will develop games for OTHER consoles and not specifically for the Wii U.

Ubisoft has said in the past it cost them less then $1 million USD to port a game. Ubi will probably still port the games Nintendo fans like but they probably won't be developing games with the Wii U in mind.

once the install base of the Wii U increases the system will probably be flooded with ports. so relax

Re: Nintendo Download: 6th June (North America)

brucelebnd

the Wii U VC has been a HUGE disappointment for me. it seems like Nintendo is just porting over the Wii VC library piecemeal. so maybe in 5 or 6 years they'll finish it. port over the old stuff but seriously put something NEW on the Wii U VC, IDK GBA games? or GC games?

Nintendo is just being lazy.

i love Nintendo but the Wii U VC is a HUGE let down
