Re: Nintendo Download: 21st November (North America)

It's D-Day.

Torn between 3D World, A Link Between Worlds (most likely the former), or waiting until I finish Wind Waker HD and Pokemon X before getting either.

3D Mario games may be my favorite type of game, period, so I'm not sure how long I can hold out.

Oof. Would love to get Rune Factory if it wasn't sandwiched in the busiest release year ever. Still trying to finish SMTIV and Dream Team before I get Pokemon and A Link Between Worlds. Trying not to buy another game until I finish those two! Surely, I will fail...

Waiting on DuckTales and iffy on Dream Team after reading Jeremy Parish's review of the game. Too many games this fall, have to be picky.

Honestly, I'm most likely to get Spin the Bottle because it looks like good old fashioned family fun madness.

Re: Nintendo of America Offers Free Wii U eShop Credit If You Splash the Cash

I love how anti-digital peeps love to forget about the disadvantages of physical when trying to justify their decision with "good luck when your system breaks" and "have fun talking to customer service to get your games back." Like I can say "good luck when your disc is scratched and you can't play" or "good luck when you lose your game," etc. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, so let's not pretend. For me, I prefer digital because the pros outweigh the cons and the chances of my Wii U spontaneously combusting are far less than my kids losing or scratching one of our $60 games. And, even if your Wii U breaks, you can get your games back - even if it is currently a broken and annoying system. It'll get better, especially if we support it.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Wii U Lineup Makes Commercial Sense

Great article and points. That is what struck me yesterday, the "wow, this is the exact same Mario-Mario Kart 1-2 punch that 3DS got 2 years ago!" As a father with three kids and someone who sold games during the Wii years, I can tell you that the Sonic and Donkey Kong games sold like hotcakes to families. So did Wii Party/Fit. Perhaps even more so than Mario and Mario Kart. This is the perfect lineup to get mainstream families buying Wii Us. I literally watched Nintendo's E3 trailers with my kids last night for like an hour ... it was all stuff that we could all enjoy.

Re: Feature: The Big E3 Nintendo Direct Round-up

On a lighter note, I was pleasantly surprised with what they showed of Mario 3D World and Mario Kart 8 ... and after 7 I really wasn't interested in the next Mario Kart. And Wind Waker HD practically stopped my heart. And SMASH BROTHERS. God I loved it all.

Re: Feature: The Big E3 Nintendo Direct Round-up

People's reactions never cease to baffle me. There were little to no surprises because they have been giving us Nintendo Directs every month. Derp. Just imagine if everything they showed today was the first time they ever mentioned any of it, and they could have thrown in that Earthbound was coming for the first time, etc - people would be losing their minds with excitement.

They practically laid out what they were going to show us ahead of time and they delivered. It seems like people's minds cannot rationalize that and demand an avalanche of new information and reveals to actually be able to process reality. Sad.

Re: Feature: The Biggest Wii U Games of 2013 - Summer Edition

Wanderhope

Here I was thinking I might pick up a PS3 this year, but it looks like I won't even have the time or money for the Wii U lineup! If these dates come true, I don't think Nintendo's ever released so many must-buy games for me in such a short timeframe (WWHD, Pikmin 3, Mario 3D, Mario Kart). I'm even interested in a few of the third party games, which is quite the feat.

Re: Nintendo Download: 23rd May (North America)

Kirby is quickly becoming my favorite franchise so it looks like I may be a shade poorer this week...

Someone let us know if the buy 2 get 1 free deal still works if you get a transfer discount on one or two of the titles!

Re: Nintendo Direct: Watch The North American Presentation Live

Wanderhope

Game & Wario, Mario & Sonic looked surprisingly perfect for my little family. Pikmin 3 just looks more and more amazing every time I see it. Wonderful 101 looks like a must buy as well (though not from today's Direct). Wind Waker HD, Mario Kart, Mario... What lack of games? My wallet is ailing. In Wii's first year, I bought TWO games total. This year I will likely buy at least seven.

Re: Talking Point: DLC's Increasingly Important Role for Nintendo

Wanderhope

I must say I love Nintendo's approach to DLC so far. Their DLC content so far is just extra juicy bits for players who cannot get enough of the main product. Both NSMB2 and Fire Emblem: Awakening have DLC that is both (1) substantial enough to justify extra money and (2) completely optional. Unfortunately, I just don't care enough about the third party games that support DLC, but I want the Wii U to be successful so I hope they bring the goods!

Re: Talking Point: The Download or Disc Dilemma

Wanderhope

100% digital. I lost my lust for clutter long ago. The less I have clogging up the veins of my house, the better.

Also, I have 3 kids under the age of 5. Discs break all the time, no matter what precautions are in place.

I would consider physical for games that aren't up my alley or I'm not sure I'll like for reselling - but I've been far too busy to waste time and money on chances.

I do sometimes miss using gasoline to go to a store, get annoyed by the clerks, refuse their special offers, for the honor of holding plastic. But it's more nostalgic than practical for me at this juncture.

Also, download times for large retail games are a non issue. Start at midnight, go to bed. Lord...

Re: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Taking A Bite Out Of 3DS And Wii U On March 19th

Wanderhope

I will either get the Wii U version, the 3DS version, both, or perhaps neither. It's a crowded few months for my gaming budget and time so we'll have to see how things shake out. I may end up getting on Wii U just because I won't have any console games to play come March and I have eShop credit burning a hole in my wallet. Heart of the Swarm, Fire Emblem, Luigi's Mansion, and this in the span of a month - this is just cruel.
