Sorry Europe. That sounds horrible. And I find myself complaining about America's updates:( At least we get crappy, double dipped VC games 1 at a time nowadays. That's gotta be better than the nothing you guys have been dealing with.
Alfred ENG has a point and I agree with that. While I agree with them that local multiplayer with friends and family you actually know in person is BY FAR superior to the anonymous crap that goes on over, say, Xbox live, the OPTION for it in NSMB Wii would've been greatly appreciated. I would love to have gotten the chance to play this game with my buds from college, and now that we're all graduated, we're in completely different states. Nintendo is too Japan-focused sometimes; they gotta realize that other countries that buy their games are much, much bigger. Though honestly, I would much prefer a level editor with online level sharing to make it into a Mario game. After LittleBigPlanet and Mega Man Powered Up, ALL sidescrollers should have those features. I don't care how much content you have Mario Wii; I can blow through it with my sister in a week, tops:) Meanwhile I'm STILL playing Powered Up on my PSP...
Jeez laweez! That's crazy - I wonder if Wii game sales wouldn't be so dreary if it weren't for the piracy. I remember seeing the Conduit selling something like 300k on VGChartz - I wonder if it rightfully would've gotten twice that if not for pirates, y'know? I didn't even think this was that big a problem, though I'm not surprised. They're just DVD's.
Nintendo's going to need more than a Wii HD at this point. They should just market two home consoles; one for casuals and one for real gamers, with HD, and some processors that can keep up with the PS3 and 360. I mean, it's not like most Nintendo teams will support 'em, but at least their Mario and Zelda guys can actually push themselves. And they could keep all their experimental, fun-but-ugly casual-focused titles on the Wii, and all the interesting, content rich, gorgeous action-adventures on this newer system. That way they could keep earning money from their Wii Sports crap-a-thons and use all that money to keep funding games like Mario Galaxy:)
@donth8theplaya: The puzzles in GOW2 suck. Flat out suck. Whoever designed that one is clearly lacking from whoever did the puzzles for the first game, or whoever did the puzzles at Ready at Dawn for GOW: Chains of Olympus. I remember there was this one puzzle i got stuck on that was a)before a checkpoint - which should never happen. IF you're going to get stuck on a puzzle, it should be after you save. And b) it involved Kratos having to throw a body into a "sewer" so that it would float around to the other side of the chamber you're in. Problem is, there was no grating/opening modeled, just water with crap flowing through it. If you don't know it's a sewer, how is there anything to solve? Also, the whole point of it was because Kratos couldn't step over a half-foot or so of spikes to just carry the body to where it needed to be anyway - artificial constraints suck in games. GOW2 is full of puzzles with artificial constraints and weird logic. They suck.
Wonder if he's looking forward to playing Darksiders then; a game a LOT of people have basically called a mash up of God of War and Zelda with great comic book art. I know I'm looking forward to that one - gotta beat all my PS3 Christmas games first though:)
A wiiware spinoff would be a great place to experiment with some more Crossbow-ing. Hell, expand Four Swords for Wiiware too - a "Four bows" would be a neat game, with 4 links co-opting through levels shooting arrows all over the place:) Would totally be a great time, and a must play download for Wiiware...
Really looking forward to this:) It seems like an awesome throwback to that era when the SNES was putting out some great puzzle-platformers. A genre that Wiiware is lacking in, despite how excellent toki tori is:) Can't wait for this, and Nicalis' other games on Wiiware too.
I hope this one reviews well. Flight games seem like they'd work really well with motion controllers (anyone whose played Flower on PS3 can attest to the potential there). With Sky Crawlers being the only game of note to fill that niche on wii, it's a pretty lonely genre. Hope this game ends up a solid Wiiware release then.
That stinks a bit. I mean it's awesome that it's done, but why the heck is NOA holding onto it? It's not like they have other Wiiware heavy hitters coming out right now...
This looks really nice. Like, really, really surprisingly nice. It reminds me of the games the Japanese used to make when the PSX and Saturn were coming out; stuff like Jumping Flash. Although obviously in 2009, the designs are less experimental and things like controls are no longer a problem. If I had a DSi, I'd check this out in a heartbeat. But I'm still rocking a Lite - a GBA slot and access to the over 500 games it allows is far more important to me than a dumb camera and a inconsistent online store. Wish more DSiware games were this solid...
Oh man, they did Aero the Acrobat? The second Aero was actually really fun if memory serves correctly, and the spinoff (Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel) was , though probably not very PC these days:) Hope that shows up on the VC in 2010, especially since Iguana ain't around anymore - can't believe that game wasn't developed by Japanese, and by the future makers of Turok no less. Thank you Wikipedia:)
I remember Blaster Master - and I'm looking forward to it hitting the VC, as I barely played it back in the day (my cousin had it, not me) - but what else has Sunsoft made of note? I remember the NES Batman games were theirs until Konami got the license for Batman Returns, and that game was awesome. But other than that, I only remember Sunsoft for being the licensor of Looney Tunes, and thus producing some horrible licensed tie-ins like Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle.
They have any other awesome original games? Well, technically Batman WAS an original game; they just slapped the license onto a ninja game and knocked out some new sprites to replace the hero with Batman and the last boss with the Joker. Besides those two though?
This game has a horrible name. Since Nintendo's download service kinda sucks, and doesn't even give any screenshots to show off a game, let alone very VERY few demos, who the heck knows what you're getting with a title called, "FlowerWorks"?
Might have to check it out now though. It actually looks like a quirky, fun, fairly well produced (for a download) title.
Gonna be tough to stand out on the system already teeming with great JRPG's. Wonder what it looks like? And will it be better than the likes of Suikoden Tierkreis, Final Fantasy IV, Dragon Quest V, FF Gaiden: Four Warriors of Light, Nostalgia, Avalon Code, Soma Bringer, World Destruction, Phantasy Star 0, etc.
I actually think this video falls in line with typical Zelda commercials here in the west. I remember how they sold Wind Waker to the masses; with a creepy, high-fantasy movie trailer where the narrator was describing Links quest to save her (and, of course, she spoke in a english accent). The Zelda GBC games got a sweet, high fantasy CG ad as well. And Majora's Mask had that awesome, atmospheric, "everyone staring at the moon as it crashes to Earth around the world" commercial.
Nintendo seems to be the only company still selling games to us like that, on the rare occasion they pony up for some ads (well, ones that don't involve Beyonce). I remember in the 80's when everything was presented as Hollywood style , high concept fantasy action. The cover for a copy of Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest featured realistic knights battling realistic dragons - little did we know that the creatures within were goofy looking Dragonball creatures (mainly because we didn't know who Akira Toriyama was at the time). Or hell, everyone is familiar with the infamous facades Capcom gave Mega Man back in the day, to try to make him appeal to westerners more, with their Tron-ripoff looking science fiction dudes.
It's actually kinda neat at how that idea evolved, and how NOA still uses it to great affect to paint Zelda as the series it really is. No matter how quaint and painterly the games get with thier presentation, they're .
Feh. Played through these guys like, 8 times already. SEGA would've been smarter to put Dimps lesser known, but far superior, handheld Sonics together in a collection for the first time. Sonic Pocket Adventure is supposed to be great. Sonic Advance was meh, but Sonic Advance 2 and 3 were AMAZING Sonic games. Also Sonic Rush and Rush adventure. They should've definitely lumped some of those together. Also, I suppose we're not getting another Sonic Chronicles then?
Sounds like Majora's Mask all over again; Not as innovative, but a better, more polished game overall. For me though, the changes made to the game are definitely enough to pick this up. While i'm no fan of touch screen only controls, I'll get over it. The presentation is beautiful (the theme in Spirit Tracks' launch trailer, I suppose the main theme in the game, is already stuck in my head), and the fact that Zelda is along for (at least some of) the ride for the first time ever is huge to me. I like how the Train looks like it plays too; it looks like a game of Pac Man to me, almost, changing your path to avoid enemy trains and stuff. I don't really care that it's less "open" than the boat in previous games; it still looks engaging and it's different.
...Looks engaging, and it's different. Now it really sounds like Majora's Mask:)
I can't wait for this to come out in the 'states! Gonna pick one up for my mom, and maybe I'll borrow it from time to time just to play some of the DS's FPS's. Using the touch screen to aim is the single most uncomfortable control scheme in video game history - perhaps those games will fare better on a much larger screen. It's a shame because Dementium and COD: MW Mobilized are supposed to be quite good...
Oh! If you guys are really going to bring these suggestions to LucasArts, I have an idea. It's not a classic title per se, but hear me out. I would LOVE it if LucasArts' pulled a "Mega Man 9" and commissioned new Super Star Wars games for WiiWare and/or XBLA and/or PSN. Have the 2D specialists at WayForward do it - look at their pedigree! Shantae, Contra 4, Boy and his Blob, Wendy Every Witch Way; those guys are practically the Treasure or Konami of America. If LucasArts really wants to do something special, I say get WayForward to do Super Star Wars Episode I, Super Attack of the Clones and Super Revenge of the Sith. THAT would be AMAZING.
I'll totally just be happy once Metal Warriors drops onto the VC though:D I just think it would be really cool if they did some new Super Star Wars games, especially since none of the prequel trilogy got a proper, really good game adaptation
LucasArts' Assault Suits Valken ripoff, Metal Warriors, is an effin' classic. Not enough gamers have even HEARD of that game, much less actually played it. That game absolutely, positively must come to the Virtual Console!
No.1 - Metal Warriors (SNES) No.2 - Shadows of the Empire (N64) No.3 - Star Wars Trilogy Arcade (Wii VC Arcade) No. 4 - SEGA Star Wars Racer (Wii VC Arcade) No. 5 - Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine (N64) No. 6 - Zombies Ate My Neighbors/Ghoul Patrol (SNES) >>>>If they wanna remake these for Wiiware, that would be cool:D
Jedi Power Battles
Jedi Knight II
Grim Fandango
Wrath Unleashed
