It can be quite difficult to really sell the concept of a new console with just words and advertising alone; this is something Nintendo has found with Wii, 3DS and now Wii U. The best way for people to get a feel for what a new console is like is for them to literally get their mitts on it; that's exactly what Nintendo is hoping to allow UK consumers to do, as it has sent out Wii U demo pods to over a hundred GAME stores nationwide.
Nintendo's Wii U showcase tour is now coming to an end, so this will be a good opportunity for those still on the fence about the system to go out and play it for themselves. It's unclear at this point which games will be available to play on the demo units but we'd expect Nintendo Land and possibly New Super Mario Bros. U to be present.

I hope they're better than the ones here. In the Gamestop here I played one; Beautiful big display, lit up all blue and nice menus so I went right to it.
You can sift through promo pages, and play Rayman legends (which is great). Every other one is unplayable and even the Nintendo ones only had STILL PICTURES no trailers, only a couple 3rd party games had trailers. Just sad; I was MORE dissappointed holding the thing and not being able to play it than not seeing it all. what a waste. What crappy marketing; and in the biggest gamestore chain here. One of a few things that actually has turned me off of WiiU. That told me that it's not ready enough to buy yet. I'll wait a few months and check back on it's progress.
Oh maaaan, of all the 8 or so stores getting their demo on the actual UK launch, my local one in Portsmouth is one of them.
So I don't even have a chance of demoing one before I buy it now.

I'll be going to Neath on Friday (it's a small town in South Wales). We never get any events so it'll be nice, especially since i can't afford one yet Surprised there's no Cardiff though. Odd choice but landed that i can go into my local store and try it out for once. I may be ill but i'm going

Jebus, you've got Caerphilly, an armpit of a town tucked away on the edge of the Welsh valley, or less than 10 miles away, Cardiff bloody city, the capital of Wales! Where is the sense in that I ask you?!
