Re: Talking Point: The State of Play of the Virtual Console

Tim

"The system will likely become obsolete in 4 years; that is, Nintendo will likely release their next-gen system by then."(Clayfrd)

The way the wii is right now this will be my first and last Nintendo system. There is hardly any games on it catered to my likings and I am not looking forward to seeing the HiDef versions of the existing and yet to be shovelware.

Re: Talking Point: The State of Play of the Virtual Console

Tim

"...they can screw more money out of people by getting people to buy the inferior games ... by releasing the crappier games first." (bacchus)

LOL. Street Fighter II popped up in my head when I read that. Haven't bought any yet, maybe after I get some other games I have been waiting for.

Re: Talking Point: The State of Play of the Virtual Console

Tim

Except for the licensing issues behind vc titles there shouldn't be any slow down reason. They are not spending the time to remake the game in any way. They're simply letting us legally download the ROM and emulate it.

I honestly think a company like Sega would love to dump all their genesis games on the system all at once and Nintendo is holding them back. Sega could care less if Nintendo runs out of releases for Mondays and Fridays, but every game that Sega doesn't have available on the system is a game they won't get cash from and we all know Sega loves to milk money out of their old franchises.

Re: US VC Releases - March 17th - Super R-Type

Tim

Another two bite the dust. I seriously want to buy something on the vc channel but I won't buy something that is crap for the simple reason that I can't resell anything I don't want to keep. Nintendo sure doesn't want my money this week, lol.

Re: WiiWare vs Xbox Live Arcade - Fight!

Tim

Are these developers narrow sighted?

Do they not realize that wii owners have a storage problem and a lot of people are not going to download/buy new stuff released because they are out of space?

Do they not realize that probably the majority of wii owners don't have their wii hooked up to the internet because mom, dad, grandma, grandpa and little billy too don't know how to setup a router?

No kidding, it's , because is all developers release for it. If you don't like then release something good. Being a gem stone in a catalog of sub-par retro remakes should work out in your favor unless you were planning on releasing another sub-par retro remake.

Sometimes I think people are idiots and a half.

Re: WayForward Developing Exclusive Horror Puzzle Title for WiiWare

Tim

When I think 'puzzle' I think fun and happy, challenging games. Why would I want to play a depressing 'emo' puzzle? This sounds like a bad idea to me. Puzzle games don't get a lot of attention from me as it is and making it 'emo' isn't going to encourage me to play it. This better have some amazing story like Grim Fandango. Who am I kidding? There will never be another Grim Fandango.

Re: US VC Release - March 3rd - Super Turrican

Tim

@ Hexxen7

I got it because I never intended to purchase any extra songs for it and I had nothing better to do in October. I generally don't do downloadable content because the DRM behind it bugs the hell out of me, with the exception of a few vc titles here and there. The only reason why its harder to implement is because Nintendo would actually have to do something to make it happen.

At least we got this game out of the way and those who are Turrican fans have something to smile about

Re: US VC Release - March 3rd - Super Turrican

Tim

@Hexxen7

I got GH3 for the wii just because it was $15 cheaper before tax then the 360 version. If you really believed there would be downloadable content I feel sorry for you.

@Stuffgamer1

Long time Nintendo fan eh? Well I guess I'm not as disappointed because I'm not exactly a Nintendo fan. In my short existence thus far I had a Genesis, PS1, Dreamcast, PS2, & X360. The wii is actually my first Nintendo console because Wii Sports sold me on the idea. I'm not surprise that Nintendo neglects their fans. Things have been going down hill as early as the N64 days.

I feel all your pain. I'm still trying to get the salt out of my wound without hurting my self even more.

Re: Tetris Attack

Tim

If the problem releasing this was the Tetris license then I would be just as happy if they renamed the game to Yoshi Attack. I don't even know why they used the name Tetris because this game has nothing to do with Tetris.

Re: Commodore 64 coming to Virtual Console

Tim

It would seem that Nintendo is taking the initiative in getting support from as many different systems as possible. It makes me wonder why they severely limited the memory if they are this interested in digital distribution. Perhaps they recently changed their business plan when the VC filled their pockets with a lot of spare change.

Re: WiiWare dated for US, three titles officially announced

Tim

Atlantis1982, you sir or madam are crazy if you enjoy wasting time swapping memory with how convenient other systems are in this day of age.

Bottom line, SD cards would be good enough if Nintendo let us run our games off the card and supported cards larger than 2GB.

Re: WiiWare dated for US, three titles officially announced

Tim

May is so long from now that the service is basically being released early summer and why no mention about Dr. Mario?, the one wiiware game I want.

I hope to god that Telltale isn't releasing Sam & Max in episode form on wiiware. I would like to have it on disc. Season 1 for the PC takes up a full cd and thats space the wii doesn't have. I'll stick to playing Sam & Max on the pc, in HD rez, if this is the case rather than swapping memory back and forth for an hour on the wii.

Re: US VC Releases - 18th February - Ninja Gaiden III

Tim

@KhaoShar

PhantasyStar II being released a bit closer to each other is nothing more than coincidence. Blades of Steal had a close release last year. Why start a trend to break a trend to start it all over again?

A lot of us figure that because Nintendo doesn't have to physically push vc games onto store shelves it should be technically easy to release these games simultaneously. Technically speaking, it is.

What we all forget is that there is divisions within Nintendo. There's Nintendo of America, Nintendo of Europe and a very good chance they don't talk with each other as much as we do on vc-reviews.com

Re: WiiWare Focus: Interview with Nnooo (Pop)

Tim

I think all the background info behind the game is intriguing. I too liked popping bubbles when I was a child. But, I have since than grown into an adult and bubbles can't keep my attention for longer than 5 seconds anymore. I'll pass on this game unless the final product is as addictive as Dr. Mario.

Re: The Great Internal Memory Debate

Tim

I personally don't want a hard drive humming in the background sucking up juice. Some of the things I like about the Wii is how it's compact, quiet, and use very little electricity in comparison to my 360. Thus, I favor the SD solution as it is seamless.

Re: US VC Releases - 11th February - Harvest Moon

Tim

Boredom v2.2 haven't you learned yet that Nintendo doesn't care about vc milestones? They just dump what ever and figure they'll make money off of it regardless. The only time I can remember them actually planing anything was when they released Metriod to hype up Metriod Prime Corruption.

Re: Kirby's Dream Land 3 Reclassified by ESRB

Tim

I would get this. I personally like Kirby more than Mario because of the copy ability. Here's hoping they also release Zombies Ate My Neighbours. I could care less about duck hunt, though I initially wanted it at launch.

Re: Hardware Focus - Sega Master System

Tim

Wow Morbid! You had a black and white TV in the 80s for your gaming rig? I thought colour became the norm by the 70s. Than again I was born in '84 so what do I know.

Re: Eternity’s Child Confirmed as WiiWare

Tim

@dark moogle

I was scratching my head too. My 360's 20GB HD makes size in MBs irrelevant. It doesn't make sense that something that is "too big" for the 360 would get ported over to a system that can't even compete with the storage available on one 74min CD-R.

Re: The Sega Master System Rap

Tim

This song gave me a headache and made me laugh at the same time. And I didn't get the headache from laughing in case you are wondering. Still, I enjoyed this retro moment

Re: US VC Releases - 28th January - 1080 Snowboarding

Tim

I'll pass. Hopefully Excite Bike 64 will come soon. It looks like the VC has finally hit the bottom. It couldn't go a whole month on a steady 2, never mind 3. There are still a lot of good games that need to be released so I guess Nintendo is being much more conservative now.

Re: XGen Studios WiiWare title in 'Early 2008'

Tim

The XGen games on their site feel more like ShovelWare than WiiWare to me.

I don't know how you guys can enjoy playing stick figure games. I have played so many games since the 16-bit era (early 90s) that games like XGen's don't introduce anything epic to me in the form of game play or story and thus can't keep my interest.

Well, if you truly enjoy them then I'm happy for you because nothing beats a game you personally like.

Re: Goldeneye NOT Virtual Console Bound?

Tim

This game was amazing back in the day, but since than FPS have made leaps and bounds in the genre. Other than nostalgia, I just don't see why people want it so bad. And with all the licensing issues it sadly just won't happen.

Re: EU VC Releases - 18th January - 1080 Snowboarding

Tim

1080 is one of the best if not the only snowboarding game on the n64. However, back in the day I was into playing cool boarders 2 on the playstation and didn't much care for 1080. I'll save my console storage space for something else like excite bike 64.

Re: EU VC Releases - 14th December - Mega Man 2

Tim

Hey guys, I don't think its fair to hate on the EU because they are getting better vc games then us. I'm still waiting for Bobble Bubble as many of you are waiting for Mega Man or even Vectorman, but the real culprit here is Nintendo of America.

Re: US VC Releases - 10th December - Pokemon Snap

Tim

Hopefully they'll make available bubble bobble before christmas. I don't know what Nintendo is thinking giving us a summer sport (baseball) in the winter. At least the Pokemon fans have something to look forward to.

Re: Blades of Steel

Tim

I hope this game comes to the North American virtual console before christmas. This is easily the best hockey game available on the nes. The single player game probably won't hold up in this day of age but the multi-player is where all the fun is.

Re: New WiiWare game - Pop

Tim

This game will only be interesting for people who have never played a video game before in their entire life. For the rest of us this will be boring. It's kind of like Pong, in the sense that Pong was great when it had no competition, but Pong can't compete with any game today; well, other then Pop.

Re: Kirby's Avalanche

Tim

Kirby's Avalanche has better music then MBM but MBM has the big advantage of a password system and the ability to use a wii mote. The only possible reason why this game won't support the wii mote and mean bean does is because Nintendo is taking the lazy way out.

Re: Wave Race 64

Tim

It's too bad the N64 add-on memory pak isn't emulated. The ghost in time trial isn't a big enough feature to miss but the wii is light years ahead of the N64 and one would think Nintendo would take the time to emulate it. I hope this doesn't mean all future N64 games won't support the memory pak. Other then that this game is a lot of fun to play even today.
