Re: Nintendo Reveals Specific Dates For Wii U Virtual Console Trial Campaign

Sun

This promotion is superb, but everything else about Wii U's VC stinks:
· 50Hz for Europe
· Charge again for the same games even after being transferred.
· Games being 'redone' so how many games are they going to release? Same amount than Wii's VC?
· Expensive prices: 5€ NES, 8€ SNES, etc.
· Focus on NES games. Again.

Re: Talking Point: The Wii U Virtual Console Trial Campaign's Advertising Role

Sun

@NL, they chose Balloon Fight because Iwata worked on it! Just listen to him...

The problem is that the games are being redone for Wii U's VC so it can take forever for a good selection of games to arrive, take a look at Wii's VC and see. And again they are focusing on NES games which most people do not care about. On top of that 50Hz for Europe.

I'm quite disappointed about Wii U's VC to be honest.

Re: Talking Point: Wii U Direct - Tell Us What You Thought

Sun

They wanted to show what they are doing now but what they are doing now is not ready to be shown, except for a Zelda HD port and a Yoshi 2D platform using Kirby's Epic Yarn's engine. And a Wii Party.

What about third parties? I know they said they will talk about it later on but it looks like Wii U is being ignored by most of them. Or even worse, that they are going to release poor ports for Wii U.

Virtual Console: if we look at Wii's VC we see a few N64 and SNES games only and they say they have to redo games for Wii U's VC so... :S

Monolith is doing awesome as usually.

Re: This Homage To Sega's Classic Racers Could Be Speeding To The Wii U eShop

Sun

@TheRealThanos He would be 14 years old in 1999 when Daytona USA was released for Dreamcast. I started playing videogames when I was 6 years old or so. And Daytona USA was released in 1994 for arcades but remember there are some countries where it was released later, there are some arcades which still have these machines!

I wish Sega released its classics on the Wii U VC and maybe make a brand new racer too.

Re: Feature: What You Told Us About Wii U

Sun

@antdickens I know what you mean but I thought pretty the same as Kirk when reading the survey results, just from the start since I read 79% own Wii U. Only 2.55 million people in the world own a Wii U. Of course it is a new system but I don't think they will sell 5.5 million units as fast as they said the would (was it March?).

If you ask me, I miss a really good and deep Nintendo game and also I think the system should be more powerful (its CPU-GPU is too slow). Otherwise this is going to be Wii 2, meaning third parties are going to go away from Nintendo users... again.

But anyway you are right too, antdickens (about survey purposes).

Re: Feature: What You Told Us About Wii U

Neutron: 'My thoughts: the Wii U is an underpowered console that lacks many features of current gen systems and does have any compelling exclusive software. Wii U will be dead this time next year, due to the launches of the vastly superior Xbox 720 and PS4'.

I would say that Wii U is disappointingly weak, not sure if it is less powerful than PS360. If that is a case, it is a shame.

I do not think Wii U will be dead next year, before that happens Nintendo would drop its price and release first party games. Wait, this is the same 3DS story again, isn't it?

Re: Wii U Advert Banned In The UK

Sun

@Peach64 Well said!

I was laughing about the comment saying America allows for more freedom than EU... That's crazy, it's the opposite!

And by the way why did Nintendo said on this ad that Wii Remotes are not included? Can you assume they are included with Wii U? It looks like you can.

Re: Wii U Advert Banned In The UK

Sun

@Assassinated The advertisement is not banned, it cannot be delivered in its current form. Put the words edcomics said 'On certain games only' and problem solved. I own all Nintendo systems since Super NES, I have grown with Nintendo and I thought I could play Wii U without a TV except for specific games such as Nintendo Land.

The spot just need some kind of clarification.

And thanks for replying.

Re: Wii U Advert Banned In The UK

Sun

@Assassinated I appreciate that you provide arguments mostly because few people against ASA are doing that here.

What I meant there was that some games do not use all of the gamepad buttons/axis and that affects gameplay only.

My point is that Nintendo should warn 'off-TV' display applies to certain games only. If not somebody might believe they don't need a TV for Wii U, and that is something that would make a lot of people buy the console, the same people who would buy a portable system because they don't have direct access to a TV or cannot use it for themselves only. Examples were provided in my last message.

Problem is people here cannot imagine a situation where they were not forums readers.

Re: Wii U Advert Banned In The UK

Sun

@Assassinated All the spots I have watched this far advertises the off-TV the most. When I say 'gameplay' I mean the game itself, 'off-TV' is the way it is displayed.

Yes, Kinect was new when it was released but it was not included with the console itself unless you mean specific packs that might have been released time after. About the PS3 6-axis controller, the PS3 console ads did not focus on that and again, it's just the way you control the game, as if it uses more or less bottoms of the controller. The 'off-TV' is the way you can play, without a TV, if you know what I mean. It's a revolution as it means you can play without a TV. Lots of people don't have direct access to one, say your family is using it as the spots like to say, say you still don't have a TV where you are living right now because you just moved or you just study/work there...

Re: Wii U Advert Banned In The UK

Sun

@Assassinated Your examples are:
a) game gameplay: of course it is different for each game.
b) accessories that were launched after the console itself: no way you can assume all games are compatible with them.
On top of that, ASA says this is a new device so of course you can assume you can play without needing a TV when you watch this spot. And most importantly, the OFF-TV display is the main selling point showed on these spots.

Re: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Receiving Day-One Keyboard Update

Sun

Keyboard for Monster Hunter Tri (Wii) was soooooo useful. People without it were not able to communicate properly or had to stop still for a minute to type in using the Wii Remote. On top of that, Wii Speak -that I bought- was quite useless due to its low sound processing quality.

Re: Wii U Advert Banned In The UK

Sun

Lost of ads would be misleading if it was not for their tiny explanatory texts. Problem is, people don't have time to read those tiny texts in the few seconds they appear on-screen, and that should be regulated too.

Re: Wii U Advert Banned In The UK

Sun

I think ASA is absolutely right (just read their text). Besides, Nintendo has admitted is up to developers to use off-TV properly or not and that they cannot control that.

Re: Epic Mickey Future In Doubt After Sequel Falls Short In Sales

Sun

The funniest thing is that Warren Spector said that Epic Mickey was one of the very best Wii games and that the camera was good and critics were exaggerating when complaining about it!! I bought the game, the gameplay is bland and the camera is the worst I've ever played with. And what do they do? An even worse sequel and a broken 'Castle of Ilusion' version.

Re: Ubisoft Open To The Idea Of ZombiU Sequels

Sun

I don't understand Guillaume Brunier's words the way you do, Damien. But anyway it's quite likely that Ubisoft will develop ZombiU 2 as they did with Red Steel 2. Let's hope they make a better game if so.

Re: Capcom Bringing Retail 3DS Games to the eShop

Sun

I already own Resident Evil Revelations (one of 3DS best games) but I'll be happy to download Super Street Fighter IV as I think it's a perfect game for short gaming periods. Same thing for RE The Mercenaries 3D. Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate would also be very handy in the SD. I can't wait for them.

Re: Epic Mickey Future In Doubt After Sequel Falls Short In Sales

Sun

The problem is that if you cannot make a game with less camera issues than the first 3D games ever created you should not release them until you find a way to make it decent. Bugs, lots of camera issues, nasty frame rate... The game might be beautiful but beauty is not enough for games.
