I never trust Wikipedia as anyone can edit an entry. I used to work for the big N UK customer support and NoE were very particular about us referring to it that way and it's stuck with me ever since!
"However, if you keep anything else plugged in, like a portable hard drive also powered by two USB ports or perhaps a Skylanders or Disney Infinity portal, you may have to start juggling ports." Easy answer - just buy a powered USB hub
There are fair few variations including a 'Licensed product' seal which is almost identical. I used to work for Nintendo a few years back doing technical support among other things so have seen a fair few knock-off Nintendo items in my day
@BooJoh That could happen, Tetris DS was published by Nintendo and was in my opinion one of the best versions. Such a shame it can't be played online anymore though
Just checked on VC. This the first level on Super Mario Bros 2 but has plenty of coins which is completely different to it. I love how they mix things up!
The only thing I don't like about the gamepad is the lack of analogue triggers, other then that it's another Nintendo controller masterpiece (Albeit under utilised)
For me I now get all my Nintendo published games (Wii U and 3DS) as a download unless I receive them as a gift as I know I will never trade these in and Nintendo published games haven't had physical manuals for years now.
Third party stuff however I buy the disk as there is a pretty strong chance I'll sell it on at some point.
The tripling of download revenue is pretty impressive when you take into account the much smaller install base that Nintendo has nowadays and I'm pretty sure that'll continue well into the future.
It's really quite odd that a Nintendo UK rep confirmed that nothing was coming, they are so far down the pecking list in the grand scheme of things and virtually no one at Nintendo UK would know this information as they are a very small number of individuals who basically arrange distribution, advertising and customer service for the country which are all out sourced. I still hold hope that this is all smoke and mirrors...even if it is an accessory or redesign.
I am so glad I haven't taken the surveys of all of my downloaded games, there should be enough waiting in the wings. I just wish the Club Nintendo Europe site was quicker!
I had to choose MK8 in the end but this is a top quality list. As many others have said give me quality over quantity every time. I feel that this shaping up to be like a Gamecube generation all over again, where I pretty much only buy games from Nintendo and 3rd party games are for the other consoles
Although I did it back in the day myself, I cringe whenever people blow in carts. It actually makes things worse in the long term. For the love of NES please use rubbing alcohol!
I was going to bring up the colour depth too, the NES had quite a resticted pallet. Personally I would say it looks closer to a master system game. I wonder how long before it gets pulled off by HBO?
Technically they already have an account based system for all consoles. It's just the case that we can't transfer accounts from system to another yourself (we can for 3ds if both systems are present) if your console is damaged beyond repair Nintendo can still transfer your stuff to another console for you so I really don't understand why you all fret so much.
I think that the modular nature of the existing games would lend themselves to a free to play model for a new entry in the series, downloadable characters, tracks etc. I am not a big fan of the system myself but the big N are testing the waters for this at the moment so I wouldn't be too surprised. Platinum games games would be a good git for the series I think. Quite frankly like a lot of people here i'm not that interested in innovation just an HD ultra fast F-Zero game that makes my eyes bleed and i'll be a happy gamer
Way too much reading into all this, three titles HAVE been announced. Mario and Sonic at the Winter Olympic Games 2014 - Wii U, Sonic: Lost Worlds - 3DS and Sonic: Lost Worlds - Wii U. However I do think that Mario Kart should be kept to pure karting with Mario characters only and maybe have an all-vehicle race game akin to Sonic Racing with characters from all over the Nintendo universe including third parties similar to the mighty Smash Bros. That'd be brilliant!
@StarDust I think that someone got a bit trigger happy with a portal gun and put paintings up to hide the evidence! This would make the castle only its 'face value' size because they take you to different locations instead of it occupying a larger size internally than externally TARDIS style maybe? Would a Paper Mario one be worth less because it only occupies 2 dimensions? How did I never notice the lack of amenity's in Mario 64!?! Every princess needs to poo!
@Damo It does however it also invalidates your warranty with Nintendo and that's not something I'd be willing to risk. You'd be surprised at just how many broken consoles are the result of third party equipment being used and just how few go wrong when only used with the real deal. Back to Animal crossing though i'm a little worried about just how much time I'll throw at this one. I think the least I have played any of them is around 300 hours!
@Dev Working the numbers for Peach's castle would be a lot trickier, I mean would you calculate the internal dimensions of the contents of each of the paintings or just the castle itself?
Now I hope a similar thing happens in Europe, they could start acting like a single entity rather than 3 separate ones. Get rid of NUK and have everything operate directly out of Germany rather than having third parties all over the place.
Perfect! now I get to spend less on the game when bought through Game then if I pay for it directly through the eShop, I get the game points, Nintendo network premium, Club Nintendo stars and the convenience of having the titles straight on the Wii U menu reducing strain on the optical drive of the console...now to put some money aside for a dedicated external HDD
@Noxia Every Wii U game has a full e-manual, same applies for all but the very earliest 3DS games too regardless of whether they are disk based or download.
There was actually a small batch of gba sp that had a backlit screen instead of frontlit, they look tons better. They were produced very late in the gba lifecycle.
I joined when it was WiiWare World and I was still working for the big N. I don't tend to comment too much but keep up the awesome good work guys and gals!
I got mine pre-launch from club nintendo with metroid prime hunters: first hunt and warioware touched demo. It had t-shirts and other goodies bundled too. I upgraded to DSlite on launch day, sad to see it traded in but was well worth it.
If there is no true backwards compatibility then its a 'not buying' from me. I have a more then ample internet connection to support streaming but don't want to do this. I don't want two ugly Sony consoles sat under my telly.
I have no sympathy whatsoever, he should have contacted Nintendo directly and they would have transferred them straight to a shiny new Wii U for him under his warranty. Anyone who spends that sort of money should look into this first.
@WiiLovePeace You are the bringer of great news ...now I'll just be looking for a good importer as I'm not going down the eBay route...too many counterfeits on there for my liking
For most other games I really wouldn't mind loosing exclusivity as a good game is still a good game regardless of the platform but this one was clearly built with the innovation that is integral to the Wii U gamepad. If the versions of this game are all the same then I don't really want those features stripped out just so it can play on the last gen consoles too. The delay is just a twist of the knife. I'm deleting the demo and cancelling my pre-order right now.
On the plus side and least my wallet will let out a small sigh of relief now

That level layout looks a lot like Super Mario Bros 2 (or USA) to me not of the 'New' variety, other than the graphical style that is
