I love the original, so i didn't hesitate for a second to pick this up. I figured I'd play for half an hour or so to get a feel and see how I liked it. Before I knew it I was 4 hours in and enjoying every minute.
The only problem I found was that it was way too easy. Where the original was "NES hard" I just breezed through the first 7 worlds barely getting a scratch and never seeing what the bosses in the top-down sections actually do before melting them. I still adore this game.
This is great. Considering you "only" need 441 seeds to get all your upgrades, an ultimate weapon or item as a reward for 900 would be a bit much. All I know is that with collectables like this, I'll inevitably end up with 99/100 (for example) and give myself a headache finding the last one. The fact that there are so many more than you need, and no real reward for getting every last one, it's the way collectables should be done in open world games.
I haven't really enjoyed a competitive FPS since the original Counter-Strike some 15 years ago, but I'm a total Overwatch junky. I've played it during almost all my free-time at home (which isn't much) on Xbox since Thanksgiving. If I had a Switch, I'm sure my priorities would change, but as of right now I can't get enough of Overwatch and Mercy. If it came to the Switch I'd be thrilled, but I don't see that happening.
I'm looking forward to trying out Splatoon once I get a Switch since I never tried it on the Wii U and I'm hoping it can scratch that competitive itch.
This was one of my favorite, and most memorable games on the TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine. It went by the name Dragon's Curse, and the sounds and music are deeply burned into my memory. When I watched this trailer some time ago it took me straight back, but I couldn't place the name Wonder Boy to anything I was intimately familiar with. Then it clicked, and I realized what this was a remake of. Needless to say I'm super excited for this!
I was 14 when it came out, and I skipped over it for the PlayStation because of Final Fantasy VII. Couldn't have both in my house, and had to make that choice, but some of my friends had a 64. I have so many great memories of Mario Kart, Golden Eye, and Ocarina. At that age it was usually enjoying split-screen with buddies. Good times and it's great so many others share the same experiences.
I finally bought my own 64 when I was, oh, 25, and got to enjoy Mario 64 to the fullest. Since then I've built up a small collection and still enjoy firing it up on my beast of a CRT TV every now and then. No friends to play with any more unfortunately.
Scratching the screen easily is a little alarming, but nothing a screen protector won't fix, let's hope. I baby my toys anyway, so I'm not that worried. No way I'd bring it anywhere without a case just like my 3DS, tablet, etc.
Lots of positives and a few negatives for me here. Not having analog shoulder buttons is a big head-scratcher, not necessarily a deal-breaker considering how much of a must-buy I consider this to be. We may not see racing sims on the Switch, but there are other examples where one would need analogs up there. In the end though, I doubt I'll ever miss em, it's just something lots of us are accustomed to but aren't necessary the vast majority of the time.
That aside, having a headphone jack on the controller itself is one of my favorite things about competitors' controllers seeing as how I have to keep quiet during my gaming time so as not to wake the little one.
I've lived without these things in the past and in the end it's not a huge deal to me. I'm still excited about finally getting my hands on all things Switch!
While I love Harvest Moon, the first SOS game didn't hold my attention for very long for reasons I can't quite pin down. So I'm a bit hesitant to pick this up right away. From the review it sure sounds better, especially with the aforementioned Veteran mode, but I'll hold off for now.
And my list of personal Switch must-buys just keeps growing and growing. I've heard many great things about this one, and as a Harvest Moon, etc, fan, I'm sure I'll love it.

Re: Disney Afternoon Collection Includes Six NES Classics, But It's Skipping Nintendo Systems
Well, that's weird. Still, I'm willing to bet it'll be brought over.

Re: Runner3 to 'Launch Exclusively' on Nintendo Switch
I've played a fair amount of Bit. Trip Saga and really liked the retro style, but this is looking so darn pretty I don't think I'll miss it.
@Ralizah Jumping and sliding, yeah.
Re: Graceful Explosion Machine Will Put HD Rumble to Work on the Switch in April
Looks great. Love me a frantic shmup. Hopefully there are challenging and interesting bosses too.
Re: SteamWorld Dig 2 is Digging Its Way Onto the Nintendo Switch in Summer
Day-one purchase here! Loved this first game, and this appears to have a bit more meat on the bone.
