I'll hold judgement until they're utilized in more things. For now, I'm happy with how they work. If it just means someone with a figuring gets an outfit for a character or something (like with Kart), great. I don't care. But if I need them to utilize a fundamental or large part of a game, I'm out.
One thing I don't understand, for Smash, if I pick one up, should I be getting the Amiibo of the character I typically use, or a different character? I honestly don't get it, but am willing to throw away $13 to figure it out.
Any insight as to why they continue to neglect the Wii U?
While the rewards may, in the grand scheme of things, be a small aspect, it continues to show the company's lack of support for the new system. It's been out a year, and this is just one more piece of evidence that there's really no incentive to invest in a Wii U at this point.
(And yes, I know you can play them in "Wii Mode," but why buy a Wii U just to use it as a Wii?)
However, yet again, Nintendo has a chance to embrace the Wii U, and show that it is their current system and priority, yet they choose to neglect it. It's hard to encourage other people to support the system when Nintendo doesn't yet treat it like it's their current system.
Why have they not switched their controller to be branded WiiU instead of Wii? I get they they can be used on both systems, but it's time to shift the market's attention to the WiiU if that's ever going to sell any units.
I saw this as a Wii U owner, and someone who loves the console.
I can understand that. As a gamer in my 30s, with a family, my time to play games is constantly decreasing. When I do carve out time to buy and play a new game, I typically am in the mood for some more light-hearted affairs, reminiscent of the games I grew up with.
I have no problem with violent games, games where you play the criminal, shooting or any of that. After a while though, it just gets boring and uninteresting. I'll play the call of duty's and the resident evils, but I never got around to the GTA series after GTA2.
I think playing the "villain" is a great way to tell a story and create a world of fantasy. Connecting with the villain made shows like Sopranos and Breaking Bad popular.
GTA just never seemed like something I needed to rush out and buy. By the time the price drops or my schedule frees up, there's usually something else that interests me.

I hope these come to the US Virtual Console quickly.

Great review. I really hope this hits the US E-shop. I'd pay tens of dollars to replay this trilogy again.
