Re: Review: Winter Burrow (Switch) - Cosy Survival, But Doesn't Go Deep Enough

SirVick

I think that this game hits the right spots for people that are not the biggest fan of the crafting genre, but want to dip their toes in it a bit and see how it goes. I know this makes it a very "niche" target, but I'm there. I prefer a more guided experience in a game like this and the graphics here evoke some childhood books art I loved to keep staring at.

I bought it knowing the negatives and understanding what I was getting into. I'm having a good time with it.

Only complaints are the judder when the camera moves (probably due to not being optimized for switch 2 and the UI is gets in the way(takes too much screen space) for my taste. I really do like some minimalistic UI.

Re: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Is Getting A Sweet 'Switch 2 Edition' Upgrade This November

SirVick

That's awesome. But it's really unpredictable which games are getting upgrades and the ones that are not.

I know it depends on the developers, but it's just crazy that sometimes AAA devs come with "We don't have dev kits" and some obscure or small devs have Switch 2 version of their games up soon.

I really wish more games got better ports, specially older great games on switch and DEFINITELY most games on coming soon section should have switch 2 versions, but we know how that section is looking. It's improving, slowly but improving.

Re: Review: 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller - Ultimate? No, But 'Decent' Doesn't Have The Same Ring

SirVick

@Maxrunner It's a great controller as a secondary controller for the switch and a primary for the PC, no doubt.
It does not work via bluetooth on switch. I had to return mine 2 months ago because I made the mistake of thinking just the button layout was different.

about mapping, you can do it. But tell me which games are you willing to give up a working button to assign the screenshot button? I have tried and there is always compromises.

It's not a bad controller, but even for 20 less, it's not worth it as your MAIN controller on the switch. IMO of course.
thanks for replying.

Re: Exclusive: Bloober Team Bigs Up The Switch 2 With 'Cronos' Live-Action Trailer

SirVick

@AverageGamer Yes, to an extent. Look it may have in this case (PS5 pro vs PC) a slightly lower fidelity in RTGI and yes, I'm playing on the 30fps mode, does not bother me in a game with correct frame pacing, BUT everything you need for the mood of the game is there. The high density fog, the exaggerated god-rays, and the dynamic placed shadows piercing the environs. So the mood is intact. I don't game on PC, my point here is not diminishing the Switch or saying that the PS5 Pro is better. I just think that when compromises destroy the stylistic vision behind the game, then you have a problem with a port like this one.

Re: Exclusive: Bloober Team Bigs Up The Switch 2 With 'Cronos' Live-Action Trailer

SirVick

Love this game, it's amazing. BUT, as much as I love my switch 2, this is not the place to play this game.
Google a video comparison and you will understand what I mean. It's not resolution, or LOD, it's all the lighting being ripped off and pos processing effects like fog being absent as well. It's literally another game on other platforms. Too big of a compromise to me. Playing on the PS5 Pro for now.

Re: Mini Review: Dead Reset (Switch) - A Gory, Sci-Fi Take On Groundhog Day

SirVick

@Smithicus Let me start saying that I agree with you, I love Cronos, but NOT the switch version and hey my opinion of course, many won't agree with it, but Cronos is completely butchered on switch. I don't mean simple things, the entirety of the game lighting and post processing effects ( fog majorly important in the game) have been simply removed, lighting falls flat in a game that is purely atmosphere. Like even if you own only the switch, I'd say give it a pass as you will be destroying the game mood and original artistic vision. So I do get the low score ON SWITCH. (should be lower IMO)

Bloober just lowered settings instead of optimizing to reach understandable compromises like Star wars outlaws did.
I understand that you can't really compare the size of these studios, but releasing Cronos in the state it is, is just a very bad cash grab.

Re: Review: 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller - Ultimate? No, But 'Decent' Doesn't Have The Same Ring

SirVick

@Maxrunner It's less compatible with the switch and it has the same tech as the Ultimate 2 Bluetooth.

understand that "bluetooth" and "Wireless" are model names that 8bitdo use. Both controllers are wireless and bluetooth.

The "wireless" is not compatible with the switch (1 or 2) via bluetooth. It needs a dongle connected to the dock and a setting on the switch to use "wired connection for the pro controller" turned on. Which limits you from using a second pro controller via standard bluetooth.AND the capture button does not work.

SO, it's not same.

Bluetooth model works as intended, via bluetooth, no extra settings, capture button works and it works on PC as well.

Re: Review: 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller - Ultimate? No, But 'Decent' Doesn't Have The Same Ring

SirVick

@PJOReilly Yes indeed, but the Bluetooth one is the one to advise people with Nintendo Switch in mind to buy as it'll work wirelessly via bluetooth, it has the right button layout and the capture button works.

The wireless version not only needs the dongle, you also need to set the switch to wired controller mode and the capture button does not work.

I'm just really trying to help people not go through the very unpleasant set of caveats that the wireless version has when using it on the switch.

The ultimate 2 wireless is a great controller if you play on PC mostly and want the option of plying on the switch, not as a main switch controller. I mean the Ultimate 2 bluetooth is marketed as and has full Switch support for the same price.

Thank you man!

Re: Review: 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth Controller - Ultimate? No, But 'Decent' Doesn't Have The Same Ring

SirVick

Hey man, @ PJ O'Reilly, There is something really important to mention here and please correct me If I'm wrong...

8bit do names are a Sh**** show. The controller you posted pictures of and linked on amazon at the end of the article is the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 wireless controller ( FOCUS ON WIRELESS which is the name of this model) AND it should be the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 BLUETOOTH controller which is the one fully supported by the switch 2 ( switch buttons layout and Botton LED and a working screenshot button)

Notice that your article title mentions the bluetooth model and your photos are of the wireless model and don't get me wrong I know both controllers are wireless and bluetooth but they are MODEL names in this case. Wireless being a controller and bluetooth being another one.

The Ultimate 2 Wireless has the Xbox button layout AND although it works on the Nintendo Switch 1 and 2 it only worked with the dongle connected to the dock and in 2.4ghz mode (switch on the back) PLUS the screenshot button does not work. It's a terrible controller for the switch.

I don't know if you want to address that, but it can cause a lot of hassle.

Re: Talking Point: Is Hollow Knight: Silksong Too Difficult?

SirVick

@Warioware They could add a "statue" or "sculpture" (bathed in the game lore if I may say it) just before boss rooms and this "statue" could show up only after you die once, so to not give away the surprise of the boss location, to show that you will respawn there temporarily, like if you quit the game you won't spawn there. I'd be fine with it. Just like the statues in Elden Ring, they were awesome.

Re: Talking Point: Is Hollow Knight: Silksong Too Difficult?

SirVick

@Cakefish It was not meant as an insult at all to disabled people and I do get your point mate. I meant it as a nod only, maybe my wording was very poor there. There games out there that do this already, like if you don't play the way it was supposed to be, you get no access to some achievements, or you get a banner etc. Again, I direct this to people that are "not in the mood" of the challenge. Not disabled people.

About from software difficulty, what I meant at least ( not saying you are wrong as you pointed an article) is that people have simply accepted it.

I think that as this game has the beautiful cartoonish art style more people want to get into it, so there is this talk about more casual gamers being able to enjoy it. I just think that being difficult can be an identity in games and if you choose to go this route you need to commit to it or make sure your audience will get their kicks out of it.

It's a hard topic. I think there is no way to please everyone. I will not mind accessibility options at all, but unfortunately people will use it to bypass some bosses and sincerely, it's their loss.

Thank you for the reply and pointing it out as well.

Re: Talking Point: Is Hollow Knight: Silksong Too Difficult?

SirVick

I find it funny that no one does articles like this on From software games, or a good souls like. It's supposed to be like that. I particularly love the difficulty and don't get me wrong, I don't consider myself "good" at these games even having beaten every Dark Souls and Elden Ring to 100%, I feel like I eventually "got good" in all of them.
Now, about accessibly options, I'm all for them, BUT... Add a silly hat, or a Pin to the save file etc, so that you can't go bragging. Let us have some fun at playing it the way it was intended ( YES, it sounds childish, but common, don't rob the people like me that screams and almost throws the controller at the TV, but does not because it's too expensive, have their fun and brag a bit! lol

PS. Run backs to boss fights SUCK... there should be simply a Retry option. Period.

Re: Review: Adventure Of Samsara (Switch) - Atari's Throwback Metroidvania Embraces Cycles Of Life, Death, And More Death

SirVick

I have recently started following this one and as a Brazilian I really want to support a studio that poured 10 years into this game. All the cons in the review come more as a warning than negative point to me. I love a good old school challenge. Now on the SilkSong side of things, It's going to be bought too. It's a packed week! I have Hell is Us and Cronos the new dawn to unlocked soon too. It's gonna be great to sit down to game and spend a good 20 minutes deciding on what to play and then going to bed late, rinse repeat, work like a zombie... lol
