Pretty well deserved. The music is good as well as the sound effects, especially those delivered by the Wii remote. The game itself is fantastic. It is the best horror game I ever played. I rented it and, after finishing it, I brought it because I really wanted it in my collection.
Considering that Grand Slam Tennis, FIFA, and Madden have an online mode, NBA JAM will be the only EA Sports game in the Wii without it. Great job, EA. I can see how much effort you're making to bring this game!
I am playing this game right now and I cannot agree with the reviewer. I would place this game behind only Sands of Time, more or less in the same level of the 2008's HD game. Perhaps the problem lies in the fact the reviewer kind of enjoys the grinding of precise jumps, whereas I enjoy the fluidity of jumping around while solving a 3D puzzle to get the right path. Still, PoP:FS Wii is one of the best games I've played recently and it is far better than the mediocre HD version.
I am somewhat excited for this game despite the trailers focused in cut scenes and what appears to be a cheese story filled with obnoxious characters. And this is due to the relatively poorly explored gameplay that seems to be good enough to compensate the weaker elements.
I can see the 3D effect in movies. It was all right to watch some animated movies but I quickly became nauseated in Avatar.I wonder how I will react to the 3DS.
I've just downloaded it and I have enjoyed a lot so far. I am using the nunchuck control option. It might be harder but definitely feels a better fit to control an airplane. Unlike the reviewer, I never played the PC version and thus I can only compare this game to other WiiWare releases and I can say it looks pretty good.
I liked The Conduit and the online mode works pretty well. That said, the maps weren't good. I found them to look too much as an arena and I never got the illusion I was on a real environment. At least CoD:W@W had bigger asymmetrical maps which I found more engaging.
This will obviously sells millions of copies. I noticed they might be using Earth as a map to the mini-games. If that's true, it will be nice to see games to be somewhat related to the countries were they are located -- I am looking at the football ball over Brazil.
So, as I understand, his argument is that only kids will be interested in the 3DS. Considering that adults will have the iPhone/iPad/IPod Touch, I guess Sony should scrap the PSP as there is no audience for that product.
I love this game but I agree it is too similar to its predecessor which, by the way, I thought it had a better story. On the other hand, Super Paper Mario really showed some new ideas. Unfortunately, the new platform mechanics was much inferior to the turn based combat of the two first games.
I spend quite a lot of coins with this game, but I agree with the reviewer. At the time it was released, it really impressed me because of the excellent graphics but the game itself was never that good. Even so, I may download it just for nostalgic reasons.
Prime 3 and Trilogy were released in August whereas Galaxy in December. As such, I wouldn't be surprised if Other M and Galaxy 2 followed their prequels. I expect Zelda to be released in 2011, as Nintendo's Q4 ends in March.
I am kind of excited about the iPad but not for playing games, as it is too big to be a portable and too small to replace my console. In the other hand, I am not interested at all at 3D gaming. After all, I have to leave Avatar after 20 minutes because I was getting really sick.
I'm not sure why I would buy this game considering I still have fun playing Mario Kart. Perhaps I am not much in SEGA characters, although I like the idea of playing with Crazy Taxi. BTW, it is a great game and they should invest in a new version. @Stuffgamer1: I hated SEGA Superstars Tennis and I think the press was too gentle with it. I hope you're right about the Racing game, despite I suspect you and I have very different tastes.
@Sean Aaron: I agree that an incremental upgrade is a strong possibility. I believe the DS successor will be announced and released first. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo releases a new version of the Wii at the same time. If feasible (I'm no engineer), I would like to see an update of the GPU to allow upscaling to 1080p and more memory to downloadable games. I am online advocating the upscaling not a really replacement of the graphical engine. This change would allow higher resolution images but the same polygon count and texture detail of the current Wii. As such, all Wii's versions would be compatible with all software, although the newer ones would display better in HD TVs.
I don't spend a single second evaluating Reggie's comment. Even if a new console announcement is eminent, he still would say it is not going to happen to not compromise the current hardware sales. As such, statements such as this from him or Iwata has no meaning at all.
Someone at VGChartz compared the sales data for all Mature rated SEGA games and found out that, in average, the Wii versions have a better track (Wii: 647K, 360: 292K, PS3: 174K). Even if you don't thrust VGChartz absolute numbers, it is likely they carry same bias in all platforms, which make them comparable.
It seems someone at SEGA should check their own numbers twice.
I would buy LCT2, especially if he added some online component in it. In contrast to many posters, I do like the Zapper. It is true that it makes more difficult to shot, as it adds more bulkiness to the controls. However, it does seems I am actually holding a weapon of some sort, unlike the feeling I have with the Wii remote + nunchuck. That said, I would rather have a new game in the main series.
If Nintendo is really discussing with Intel -- and AMD according to other rumors -- they still have to settle around the basic concept around the next platform. From there, they still have to project, prototype, perfect, and finally deliver a consumer project, not counting with delivering a developer kit one year earlier. This would easily take two years. I don't doubt thought that, in the best tradition of their portables, they release an updated version of the Wii, featuring a new interaction of the GPU that would automatically upscale all graphics to HD and, perhaps, would allow some anti-aliasing. Still, it is probable that very few games would be exclusive for this version.
I wouldn't be surprised if the story is only partially true, as the money wouldn't compensate the bad press. I would find much more reasonable if Nintendo rejected the game for the time to avoid competition but would be open to release it six months from now.
I am always impressed to see how many people like this game. It didn't resonate with me at all. I found it to be just dull. Well, taste varies with people.
The review states you need to use buttons for doing a lob. I played for less than 15 minutes and I had the impression I didn't need to press any button at all to do any kind of shot I wanted.
I love all Splinter Cell games so far, except this one. They introduced an alignment system, in which the main character have to chose to follow orders from the NSA or the terrorists and try to create a balance in between keeping his cover and catching the criminals. It is a nice idea but poorly implemented. Any action will change your status, disregarding the fact it wouldn't be noticed by one of the two parties, which is pretty much stupid. Add to the poor visuals, much inferior to the previous game in the series, make this a pass.
"What so many of us fondly remember as great games that were so much harder and longer were often hours of memorizing where hidden heart shapes are, trying to find the actual edge of a jumping point, trying to work through challenges that had to be memorized so meticulously as to be done the 6 times it took to come back without any saved game, even learning to find just the right camera angle to help a character run straight as a 3D engine tried to compensate while you move forward and had you veering off an edge."
Fortunately, these nightmare designs are a thing of the past. Level memorization, long phases without saving, and inefficient camera angle are all poor design problems. I appreciate challenging games. Indeed, Fire Emblem is one of my favourite games but those examples are just flawed designs.
I really like this game. Unlike the reviewer I believe the bad voice is proposital -- in fact, he is wrong in one point: there is no convincing voice acting in this game. This is a B-movie acted like a B-movie. Moreover, although I agree the sword duels are disappointing, I don't believe Ubisoft could do much better, considering it is a 2006 release and how unreliable are motion controls in the Wii. Finally, I have to answer the first question posed. If you're willing to refuse the duel and shot the sword wilder guy, then Red Steel is definitely not for you, as the game is based in the premisse your character is honourable. Honour is probably the only reason why anyone would entertain put aside the guns and accept a sword duel.
That said, the game have a lot of problems. The graphics are a mixed bag although the most important areas are pretty well modeled. Also, they included a lot of interactive objects. You can turn a table down and use it for cover. Although I excuse Ubisoft for not doing properly motion controlled sword fighting, they aren't excused for not making duels more interesting.
I would definitely grade this game as a seven. The lower grade given by many sites is based in the fact it was not up to the hype created, not a fault of the game itself.
Very nice graphics. The lighting is particularly good. I don't have a problem with horror shooters as I think they are great in making sure the player will take the most stupid route possible exposing him to the horrors to come.
I am curious, I am looking for more information before deciding about this one. Considering I have now Bomberman to play, I have no problem in waiting a little more.

I think the document is real but also that Miyamoto see no advantage in releasing it as he probably anticipates he will revise it at every new title.
