Ah, gotcha - now I understand what you were saying. Yes, I agree about that, too. I was merely saying that there's nothing "whiny" or "childish" about calling to voice a complaint, as many people have either implied or said outright (even saying that it's tying up NoA's phone line or being a nuisance). That's all.
No, we absolutely shouldn't have to, I agree. Just explaining to the people critical of people like us that it's okay to do, even from NoA's standpoint.
@Pink_Floyd I agree with you completely. That's why I was (and still am) confused - it sounded like you thought I was in agreement with NoA in only releasing the XL. Good lord, no. I'm one of the people arguing for the standard N3DS being released here. I'm at least as upset as anyone else here. I was planning to get the white standard model on day 1, and was devastated by the exclusion of it in the Direct.
Anyway, that's why I was a bit lost - you're preachin' to the choir.
@Pink_Floyd My apologies, but I'm not sure what your "yes and no" was regarding in my post. I said several things, and don't quite know what part of it that was addressing. Let me know - thanks.
@BinaryFragger In line with what you just said about doubting Nintendo would be upset with fans for providing feedback... I just called the number Shikabane provided above, a few hours ago; and in just the span of about 2 minutes, I calmly provided my personal complaint/feedback regarding the lack of a regular N3DS in this region, having them record it. And at the end of the call, you know what she said? That if I have any other complaint I'd like to share in the future, I can feel free to use the online customer support or just call again if I prefer.
Indeed, Nintendo has no problem with fans providing feedback or complaints (done respectfully, of course). They probably won't do anything about it, sadly, but no, there is nothing wrong with what we're doing - nothing out of the bounds of what Nintendo allows, and even encourages, such as at the end of that phone call.
We're not starting a radical movement here, guys. We're merely upset with a glaring exclusion, and are letting them know that we are, even if nothing is likely to change. I don't see why we're being criticized for this - if Nintendo doesn't mind, why should any fans here mind? Truth is, if I had wanted the XL all along, and they announced that's all we'd be getting, I'd simply be thankful and look forward to the release; I wouldn't be going into the discussions of the fans who really wanted the other model and giving them a hard time over their disappointment and decision to be proactive about it. I don't see why I'd even enter into the discussion.
But alas, I suppose there are people out there who simply enjoy tearing others down, just for the heck of it. Despite the fact that I see it all the time, though, I still can't even begin to understand it.
@BLPs I, too, have been in my own personal hell, for about 10 years now - and don't have a way "back." Since I can't control that, I take small amounts of pleasure from the little things - things that distract me from the big things. So although not truly important, they're still important to me. Getting the chance to buy the white standard N3DS - like every other region, mind you - was something I was really looking forward to, regardless of how ultimately unimportant it is.
More importantly, as k8sMum just said, where are you seeing tantrums? Literally 90 to 95% (at least) of the people I've seen voice their displeasure - whether here or at GameFAQs or in petitions - have done so in a calm, respectful way; merely letting their disappointment be known. What's wrong with that? Do you think we don't know that these are just video game problems? I assure you, we do. I know that as well as any. So I'm not quite understanding what we're doing that is so wrong or offensive.
@rjejr (I can't remember if someone had mentioned this earlier, so I apologize if they did, but...) You have a valid point with the 2DS, if not for one key thing: Europe has the 2DS, and yet are still getting both the 3DS and 3DS XL - they'll have 3 different models at once. In the end, it just comes down to NoA - they have decided that not enough of their consumers prefer the normal size to warrant even giving the option. Sucks for people like me, but that's that.
@Chaos_Eevee Well, my reason for doing so isn't the name, stupid though it may be. But due to the lack of the standard size choice here, there's zero chance that I'll be buying one. So different reason, but same result.
@Bazly I share your sentiments completely. Yes, they're a business, and so they have the right to do whatever they want. I accept that, and I'm not gonna throw a temper tantrum. That said, I too am tired of staying invested in such a company, and am also ready to just move on. So hey, you're not alone.
And I'll preemptively state that there's no reason for anyone to call me a baby and a whiner, etc. As I said, I fully understand Nintendo's rights as a business, and I'm not making trouble for anyone. I'm simply tired of their decisions. If nothing else, I guess we're just not on the same wavelength, so I guess I'm not the kind of fan that they're catering to (or offering options to) anymore. I accept that.
Oh, and no, knowing how NoA usually operates, if they weren't gonna offer it at launch - when every other region did - I would be absolutely shocked if they offer the standard N3DS at any point. They've decided once and for all that NA wants XL, and that's that. (And it's true that the majority does, but that's also true in the other regions, which did get the standard option, so...)
I was incredibly excited about being able to get the white standard-size one. Then I watched the Direct.
In conclusion, I'll be getting nothing.
@Lord_Redwood I do. I absolutely think they're just not going to release it all, after not doing so at launch like every other region. No one hopes I'm wrong more than I do... but I flat out can't fathom that I am in this case... I know NoA too well, by now.
@JaxonH Indeed, it's just a case of "to each his own," and I appreciate you understanding that. I assure you, I'll always find things I enjoy doing. I wish you the best in enjoying the New XL.
@JaxonH "A person wanted the normal and they can only buy XL. Life is so hard isn't it lol..."
It's funny you should say that. Without getting into specifics, the circumstances of my life happen to be such that I'm pretty much constantly hurting, emotionally speaking - and I have no options to change that. Things like video games... For me, they're essentially one of a few things in my life that distract me, take my focus off of the real stuff, allowing me to function from day to day. Since I happen to have no options in the important stuff, it's important to me to at least sometimes have the option to get what I'm hoping for in the not so important stuff - especially, mind you, when every other region is already getting it.
As for my decision to sever the tie with Nintendo over it? First, it's not just because of this latest issue. And second, I'm a consumer - I'm entitled to choose to stop buying from any company for any reason; just as Nintendo is entitled to offer or withhold anything they want from us. What I'm doing isn't a boycott (for one thing, Nintendo hardly cares about one person's decision); it's just a choice - their products no longer matter to me.
I'm not criticizing your feelings on the matter; please don't make light of mine. We all have a right to make any choice as a consumer, for any reason that happens to matter to us.
A big issue? Well, I have been solely a loyal Nintendo consumer my whole life - for about 25 years starting at the age of 6. I have been eagerly awaiting the chance to buy the white, standard size New 3DS ever since hearing about it months ago. Together with other things - like never getting a chance to buy the white Wii U deluxe and never getting the chance to buy the GBA Ambassador games - this has become the nail in the coffin for me. I'm actually done with Nintendo (NoA, but for me it's the same thing). I won't be hopping on board with any other gaming company; I'm simply done with Nintendo. And FWIW, I'm not someone who's ever made such a strong statement before. So yeah, I guess it's kind of a big issue for me.
And no, I don't think there's a chance in hell they'll be giving NA the standard size - ever. If they didn't do it at launch like every other region, they're not doing it; especially not since they clearly "made up for it" by giving us our own "exclusive" XL color. Score!

@AK-1138 Hear, hear! LA is my favorite Zelda game - that would be sweet.
That said, if the SS one comes to the west, I think that will be the one to finally make me shell out a couple bucks for a theme. Though part of me wishes they'd gone with a more subdued version of the song - played only on the harp, for example. That might've been easier on the ears, considering it'll always be playing on the home screen.
Hmm... Surprised no one else even mentioned that a human also couldn't be able to jump vertically the equivalent of his own height; or twice his own height as regular Mario, as shown in the pic included by Link-Hero. Mario should never have even made it to the block.

opinion - "a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty; a personal view" (taken from dictionary.com)
With that in mind:
"Your opinions make no sense."
That would be your cue to stop trying to reason with such a person. I... don't know what more to say than that.

Fair enough.
