They are absolutely correct. I always said if Nintendo the day Nintendo becomes a player in the sports world they win. I went to a Bulls game the other day there are so many fans right there for the taking. Nintendo should have a Mario and Luigi character at every stadium advertising games.
Ok does no one on here realize or take into account that the game has had 1 maybe 2 So those numbers are not accurate. Next week numbers are a real indication of how the game is selling.
What Nintendo needs to do is release a FPS type of game that shows off the relevancy of the game pad. They know this I know it and everyone knows it. But I give them props for not just releasing something to be releasing it. I have this feeling when Metroid is released it will be more than what we bargained for. The Awesome part is they already have a jump on VR so I am hoping they take the Game pad and say here is what you can do with a first person shooter. Take the good from Zombie U, Wonderful 101, Deus Ex, Mass Effect and Pikmin 3 mix it in a pot and give me something Magical.
I would love Nintendo land 2 With online play imagine playing those attractions online.
I would love to see the Wii U get the top spot for two consecutive weeks. I think Sony is in big trouble with the PS4 unlike other parts of the world Japanese gamers don't waste there money.
People online fail to ever think of the bigger picture and it's what's good for Nintendo and the company.
The same people online whining about what they should or should not do with the Wii U are the ones who don't own one. Instead of going online to websites Nintendo doesn't visit to take comments how about buying a Wii U go to Mii Verse and complain there at least that way they value your opinion.
With that being said what if it were easier to get games up and running smoother and faster on the WIi U than the 3DS?
There are a ton of emulators out there which allow people to steal Nintendo software and since the Wii U has the same CPU as a computer it surely couldn't be this hard for them to get this feature working.
Someone said that the games they played through the ambassador plan just didn't look good but looking at the video of the Wii U on and off screen it looks amazing.
As far as the N64 and Gamecube. i would love the N64 games on virtual console and we may hear about it at E3 but instead of Gamecube games on the VC wouldn't everyone rather have them announce or show that 20 of the best selling games will be given the Wind Waker treatment?
Lets face it the Gamecube was home to some classics but if I could get these in HD I would feel complete. If they got Windwaker up in 6 months they could have increased in size to get more games out in a shorter span. Imagine
Super Mario Sunshine, Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door, Anmal Crossing, Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2, Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 4,Geist and the list can go on. So I will support no Game Cube games if they give us a good amount of HD remakes to tide us actual owners over.
@Peach64 Look Nintendo is a company that has to do whatever they can to make money. You are not an analyst and know nothing about business moves. For one if they can market this right they can move units and reach that crowd again. A lot of casuals bought this game and a lot will buy it again. Every site you go on people are applauding this move because it is a smart move.
What I don't get is this article only looks at the negative. of the space. If I buy anything I read the directions so lets say people read theirs. There is a part in the manual that if I'm not mistaken recommends a external self powered HDD.If I am not mistaken you get the option of where to instal stuff. If this is a problem for developers they can always reach out to Nintendo to add an update so that they can have the updates go to the External HDD and if you don't have one connected a warning message prompts you to add one. So the uestion of why this article is written this way is weird why not write a article on purchasing an external HDD so that people don't miss out on updates? Guess that's to easy.
I think this is a Wii U game. Does anyone remember they merged their games divisions.
They showed games in order if you notice the last two games were Pokemon rumble Wii U, X and Y, And then the last clip would be of the game that will single handedly move Wii U's. Also keep in mind Nintendo has 15 unannounced non indie games that are in development. If they were to release a full blown clip of a Wii U pokemon in action I think they could steal the thunder from Sony and Microsoft..
@GN004Nadleeh They stated on day 1 to buy an HDD. As a matter of fact I got mine for cheap at comp usa. Also Any HDD has a portion that's not usable so it's the same. Also for all those complaining about the system being linked. If your system goes out Nintendo will honor your purchases and you get free downloads for the games you bought. This was confirmed a while ago.
Everyone who is screaming price cut I wish they would just stop it. It takes more than a price cut. to move your product.
Heres what they need to do. Every company has focus group sessions to find out what pushes people from all walks of life to buy their and other companies products. It's still not determined if Nintendo is doing this currently. But lets say they are not the internet is also their as well. If I have a company I would have people scouring the net just to see what people say about our company and what they want. Case and point Sony realized that people wanted more power and less the price and developers wanted a system that was easy to develope for with more power.
So Nintendo said they listened to what developers wanted did they tell Nintendo the same thing and they decided to go against the grain? If we dig back through the articles leading up to the Wii U release there was so much talk about Nintendo listening and working with developers were they led astray or did they say well we know they want this lets cut corners and give them this.
As long as Nintendo has been in business how can they still not know how to Cater to the US and European console market. These markets are all the same but different . There the same in they love their games but very different in how these games should play. For instance Japan loves Rpg, Jrpg and anime style games, Also they love quirky games and they will pick up other games here and there. USA we love our american favorite pastime games, Sports, Racing sim, games, Games where things are blown up consistently and there is a lot of weapons. Europe is the same as US gamers except their sports are different but everything else is pretty much the same. If you are going to sale a game system outside of your home territory do your research and recognize who you are selling to.
A lower price point is not going to change their fortunes. When people go buy a system and spend their hard earned money they don't say hey this system has old ported games and nothing new and exciting I think i'll get it.
No they go damn it's $50.00 dollars cheaper has a ton of great games with more due to release yes I def see the value.
Lets not forget that once you figure in the $50.00 dollar online service you are paying $100.00 more than the Wii U.
At first I saw there was no new project then I was happy I just realized by looking at the game. This took a lot of work. to get it as epic as it is. Retro I support you and applaud you for making a fun game that I will enjoy.
That rumor about EA and Nintendo not getting along is starting to rear it's ugly head. All we have to do is look at what happened from day one. To all those who don't know the engine is something that can be scaled back.to fit many different formats. With this announcement and the announcement that EA games are slowly skipping Nintendo 's consoles basically validates what most of us already know.
The way that we and Nintendo can fix this. First Nintendo has to realize the real issue. There are no first party games and there is no marketing. To resolve this Nintendo needs the goods they need games. Marketing they need to get these commercials out there for every one. I went to see Iron man 3 it was packed they could have commercials before the preview. I suspect they didn't have a killer game to do this with.
On to another note. I am a big fan of retro remakes so I compiled a list of Nintendo retro games I would love to see them have developed by a all star cast of indie studios Now this list is no particular order and I know some peplle are to young to have heard of these games but trust me they were fun as hell.
1. Popeye 2. Pro Wrestling 3.Wrecking Crew 4. Urban Champion 5. Trick shooting, Barkers Bill's/ Wild Gunman/ Duck Hunt/Stack Up( bring back Rob The Robot) 6. Star Tropics, Star Tropics 2 ( Paid homage to Zelda) 7. R.C. Pro Am/ Rad Racer/Mach Rider/ F1 Race 8. Freedom Force
Those are just NES games youtube them and you can clearly see the appeal.
To all that don't know what a subsidiary is do a little research. A subsidiary is basically a sister company. They operate independently but everything is still governed by the parent company. I worked for a company that did certifications for these companies .
In the case of Nintendo and Monolith soft here is how their relationship works. As of May 6, 2007, Nintendo owned controlling interest in the company after Namco Bandai sold 80% of its 96% stake in Monolith Soft to Nintendo. This went into effect May 1, 2007.[3] Later Namco sold the remaining 16%, making Monolith Soft a first-party developer for Nintendo.
Well Indie developers have a lower budget and Nintendo is making it affordable. The big developers and publishers are jumping on the Sony Microsoft bandwagon with these big products and the result is constant closures and no profit. It's funny they can scale or tone down there games and make a great prophet on the Wii U but won't. I think it's funny to because everyone feels sorry for these game developers losing there jobs but think for a moment they put themselves here with there bad business decisions.
If people don't realize that it's a newly designed console, with a new controller and what is shown on the box is a different picture and different written lingo. Then we as a society are in trouble. Did people confuse the PS2 with the PS3 or the Xbox with the Xbox360? they had very similar controllers..
I remember when I pre ordered my Wii U the guy at gamestop asked me what game I was looking forward to. I responded with wonderful 101. If you look at it this is a game that will honestly full utilize the game pad. To this day I still want this game maybe now more than ever.
Why oh why did they pick that game to make. If I ever get off my arse and make a game I promise you guys it won't be about a fish. I saw the video and they kept talking about the game and showing what gameplay they showed I fell asleep. Woke up and they were still talking I looked at the game and thought what is this game trying to accomplish.
So if someone sells there system with downloaded games and makes a profit. They should be able to get another system cheaper because it's on sale and re download there games they sold for free?
IMO I think everyone is always looking for something negative from Nintendo yeah they should make there hardware with a code that has to be entered like a mobile phone so that you can even use it. But then people will complain about that.. Now if your system breaks down there was a guy who reported Nintendo replaced his and gave him money to buy new games.
Actually this is the FPS Nintendo needs in there own stable. There was a by the name of project hammer this game would be perfect for it. imagine a player with a arm cannon type of weapon and then when you get up and close by hitting certain button combinations and directions he runs in and performs special hammer bashes. Call it a hybrid combat system.
@Doma I believe that the games for the WiiU will be cheaper but not the system. If the past week is an indicator of market trends. Nintendo learned that software can make or break you. I think if Nintendo wants to catch a tiger by the tail at E3 they need to not be boring.
At E3 come out and say we know we have made our faithful suffer but guess what we got you. Hit us with the 3ds first, then hit us with the Wii U games, Then hit us with 3ds Wii U cross platform games.
@SanderEvers That's what I was getting at. To me Nintendo plays the good guy roll to much. I think they need to start putting people on notice. I have ever used origin but I like the Nintendo network the way it is.
But if you are a company like nintendo and your fans are looking for games that EA offers but won't make for you you need to get on your grind and sign these developers that don't have the financial backing of a big company. Give them guidance and produce some hits.
Hmnnnnn if Nintendo wants to solve the EA problem they need to have a better than you attitude. They need to go out and acquire a 3rd party studio that can do good FPS then add the Nintendo quality and bam you solved that issue. They need camelot studios to do a great mario golf game that uses the game pad and wii remote like we saw in the sizzle reel. also they need Ipad or android like apps on the game pad so that it can have tablet like features.
People who defend this guy crack me up. HE flat out blasted a Nintendo product for having two screens. Now you honestly think he cares about his game on a product with two screens? Nintendo has already said there not paying for games but they have made it profitable for indie developers to release there games
The WII U is more powerful than the 360 and ps3 and there next system will be more powerful than the ps4 and 720. Nintendo is smart they have set themselves up for future success. The Wii U is is actually not struggling with all things considered.
1. No marketing 2. No games 3. System issues 4. The economy is rough
@ Erica Exactly my point. I walked into a target and I can honestly say Nintendo dropped the ball on putting the system out there.I walked into a Walmart a best buy and a target which I work at part time and there are no demo units out. If i'm Nintendo after E3 I have demo units in about 85 to 95% of retail outlets. I have about 5 games on the demo units from E3 a highlight video of non playable games that start out with a evolution montage. Something that says you played the wii now step up to the all new WIiU end with now your playing with power.

The WII U is more powerful than the 360 and ps3 and there next system will be more powerful than the ps4 and 720. Nintendo is smart they have set themselves up for future success. The Wii U is is actually not struggling with all things considered.
1. No marketing
2. No games
3. System issues
4. The economy is rough
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Stock Jump Bodes Well for the Value of Potential
@ Erica Exactly my point. I walked into a target and I can honestly say Nintendo dropped the ball on putting the system out there.I walked into a Walmart a best buy and a target which I work at part time and there are no demo units out. If i'm Nintendo after E3 I have demo units in about 85 to 95% of retail outlets. I have about 5 games on the demo units from E3 a highlight video of non playable games that start out with a evolution montage. Something that says you played the wii now step up to the all new WIiU end with now your playing with power.
