I’ve been playing this recently and thought I’d circle back to the review - I think the game has been patched a few times to address some of the concerns listed. For example, I was able to upgrade my inventory multiple times, including both my backpack storage and the village storage, so that I rarely run out of space. The game also has a customizable hot bar at this point. That said, the beginning couple of hours did feel like I was being limited in terms of what I could do. Once I got past that though, I usually stuck around each area past when I was prompted to move on, just to max things out- I found that process relaxing and have enjoyed the world, especially the beautiful artwork and cool music.
Yikes! I canceled my order for this. I had assumed it would be a fairly easy win. I might circle back later (particularly if they patch it up) but for now the Metroid Prime remaster is enough to keep me busy.
I think the accessibility controller 8bitdo is releasing is a cool idea and deserves support, so I ordered one. The description says it was designed in partnership with the community, and it looks intended as a less expensive option than the controller Microsoft released a couple years ago (which in itself was cool). I saw some stories on other sites but for what it’s worth I think it would be cool to have a story about it here on Nintendo Life.
You get a real sense of the IGN audience just looking at “the Witcher beat Minecraft.” Minecraft is a dynasty; it’s deeply creative, and like Tetris, debatable whether a sequel is even possible. Imagine Chess version 2.0. It makes upwards of 250 million dollars a year, and represents an apex of design; it’s a game that defines video games.
I’m honestly not sure that Breath of the Wild compares with Minecraft. I’m not even sure if Breath of the Wild compares with the influence of GTA. But I’m quite certain that A Link to the Past is the greatest video game ever made.
It’s really too bad - for a while I thought this might turn out to be the first great motorcycle game on Switch, because in the previews you could clearly see that love for detail. I definitely prefer to be portable these days, but I’ll look at the PS4 version.
Very cool. I’m excited to pick it up and give it a try. Love the art style. One of the nice features I heard about was that the difficulty has a lot of options to choose from, including easy and ‘story,’ complete with an invincibility/Toad’s golden mushroom option that makes it accessible too.
Last fall Amazon had these on a lightning sale for $73 so I grabbed one, and I’ve been happy with it. I can tell the difference. I think you can also see it in the screenshots here if you look at the diagonal lines on the car in virtua racing and the black flag pole in smash - Keep in mind if you’re viewing those screenshots on your phone that it’s easier to see on your tv, and in motion. I notice the difference in how Animal Crossing characters look, for instance. That said, it’s not a tremendous difference or a miracle device. Still it’s nice to have if you get a good deal on it.
I plan to get one eventually, to play my turbo grafx collection on the go. But with all the delays I’m actually kind of happy that I didn’t get one of the initial preorders, because folks paid in full over a year ago. I hope that the supplies and stock make these easy to get in 2022. It’s been nice to see the super NT and mega SG consistently in stock on their website.
Samurai Warriors 5 Rush Rally Origins And I’ll start No More Heroes 3 when it arrives- delivery is late for whatever reason.
Speaking of retro collections, I also just got a Q5 IPS modded Neogeo Pocket so I’m excited to revisit some games on the modern screen.
Also, I think it’s really cool that Kate is playing the original Final Fantasy - although the comment “I’ve never played a NES game” makes me feel old, and is generally disconcerting. What a jump after the FF7 remake! It would be cool to see an article about it.
I’ve been looking forward to this game, but I’m nervous about the graphical downgrades on Switch. From what I’ve seen, the grass has been removed, along with lots of trees, and pop-in looks distracting. The devs are active on Reddit and say they are working on a patch, but I’m going to wait a bit for that or some reviews. Fingers crossed though.
I have a Super NT and it’s awesome. This time I ordered the Mega SG, because I found a box of Genesis games in my closet. I noticed that the consoles haven’t sold out as quickly this time, which is a relief. I hope that eventually the supply comes in like this for their Pocket and Turbo Grafx systems, because it’s frustrating to compete with scalpers.
I downloaded Haven Park and plan to start it. I’ll definitely play Grid Autosport to chill out. I also started Ys IX last week and hope to find time for it. Thanks for reminding me about Blazing Chrome too - got that on sale a while back and have been meaning to try it.
I preordered a Steam Deck today. Boy was it difficult to complete that order. I failed on the OLED Switch - but eventually I’ll upgrade my launch model for one.
For me the cornerstone memory is really with the original NES LoZ - playing it on a small TV in the back room, complete with paper map. I was too little to finish it, but my dad did. Much later I finished Link to the Past on GBA and had such an amazing time with it. I certainly have a bias towards 2D Zelda games but I’m getting Skyward Sword today and looking forward to it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (February 18th)
I’ve been playing Garden Story - which released a while back and I’m just getting to it. Great Zelda and Stardew vibes, plus beautiful artwork.
And of course Metroid Prime remastered - playing that with my son.

Eastward
Cruisin’ Blast
Metallic Child
Having a great time with Eastward - as a more introspective game, it’s nice to balance out with some arcade and action in Cruisin and Metallic Child.
Re: Poll: Do You Call Handhelds Like Game Boy And Nintendo DS 'Consoles'?
I do tend to think about ‘handhelds’ versus ‘consoles,’ but the reality is “handheld consoles” versus “home consoles.”
I also have a bad habit of saying ‘Steam roller’ despite the fact that those machines haven’t run on steam for like a hundred years.
Re: Random: IGN's 'Best Video Game Of All Time' Tournament Is Getting WILD
@GeneJacket ha! They did it
Re: Klonoa "Encore" Trademarks Surface Online In Japan
I’m in. Loved the original games.

Re: Dojoran Looks Like A Fun Retro-Style Platformer About A Master Ninja Frog
I’m a sucker for pure black and white games. At $5 it’s hard to pass. I’ve spent more on a pint of beer and it didn’t even have a YouTube trailer.

I picked this one up immediately - looks awesome!
Re: Quick Beats: Streets Of Rage Composer On Musical Heroes And The Series He'd Love To Work On
Great interview. I just bought a vintage copy of Streets of Rage 2 for my Mega Sg. Just a masterpiece of a game.

Re: Cancelled Game Boy Color RPG Infinity Goes Live On Kickstarter Next Week
I’m into it. I bought a Retron Sq earlier this year that will play the cartridge, so that should be pretty cool.

I preordered a Steam Deck today. Boy was it difficult to complete that order. I failed on the OLED Switch - but eventually I’ll upgrade my launch model for one.
