Live A Live - 22nd July
On 22nd July, western players will finally be able to experience LIVE A LIVE, a JRPG originally only released for the Super Famicom in Japan.
Presented in the same HD-2D style made famous by Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy, this modern remake of the game will have you meeting seven heroes, each with their own unique abilities and lives to live across different time periods. It includes remastered music from original composer Yoko Shimomura and is said to "retain everything that players loved about the original" game – consider us sold! More pre-order options are available here.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 - 29th July
Arguably the biggest, most highly anticipated game on this list is Xenoblade Chronicles 3.
Launching towards the end of July, the game is a brand new mainline RPG for the series that brings together the futures of the two original games. In this third instalment, players will be taken to the world of Aionios, home to two hostile nations, and we couldn't be more excited to jump in. More pre-order options are available here, including details on its Special Edition.
Digimon Survive - 29th July
The game's initial announcement back in 2018 might feel a like a lifetime ago, but Digimon Survive is finally almost here.
This latest game in the series looks set to be one of its most intriguing, with player choices said to be an important part of the story's direction. Expect to come up against different story paths across multiple playthroughs. as well as all the Digivolving any fan of the series would come to expect, of course.
Two Point Campus - 9th August
The latest entry in Sega and Two Point Studios' simulation series is almost here, with Two Point Campus enrolling on Switch on 9th August after a bit of a delay. The game's said to be "jam-packed with new creative tools" that'll no doubt help you build the university of your dreams, with options to develop an entire outdoor campus environment complete with all sorts of teaching facilities, pathways, plants, and more.
We're big fans of Two Point Studios' previous titles and will certainly be checking out Two Point Campus when it launches next month. The Enrolment edition comes with fancy packaging, a campus map, a university prospectus and bonus DLC!

@ryancraddock Uhhh theres lots of games in the "Upcoming Switch Games For July And August 2022" list that have been out for months/years. I have a few of them sat on my shelf right now - Star Wars Pinball, Lego City Undercover, Lego Worlds...
Well I already got Sunbreak this will keep me occupied for the next month until Xenoblade 3 launches, then I think I'm good for the rest of the year lol.
Klonoa, 2 Point Campus, Shredder's Revenge and Final Vendetta belong on my game shelf
Anyone know if the wired Rock Candy or Power A controllers work when plugged into PC? I often like the look of them, and they are cheap, but I mostly play Switch handheld with Switch Lite. If they do work on PC, anyone know if they read as D or X input?
Klonoa, Digimon Survive and Live a Live are all in the preorder. Just gotta preorder Xenoblade Chronicles 3, but waiting until I can preorder the CE in Europe.
Shredder's Revenge, end of August? Hoping that date is wrong.
Zorro!
Instant Sports All Stars
Maybe Klonoa? I dunno, I think I'm good until October
I'll buy liveAlive, twoPointCampus and probably Klonoa. But other than that these months are very light first party wise.
Nintendo is really setting themselves up for the Switch 2 next year. With Metroid Prime 4, Zelda BotW 2, a new Mario, maybe Fire Emblem and an F-Zero game being released in its first year (continues to hope).
@eltomo Its end of July for UK/Europe, end of August for North America.
Xenoblade 3 alone will keep me occupied for the next few months 😂 only 28 days left...
Anyone knows if the Monster Hunter Sunbreak's Malzeno Pro Controller is available in the Americas?
I remember it being announced in a NA Direct but it's not available on Amazon or the Nintendo Store.
82 bucks for Nobunaga's Ambition?
Koei pricing the game like they're still practically the only supporter of the Famicom MMC5 chip!
So from an objective view, this is a very light month for Switch releases...
...but from my perspective, this is easily the most exciting release schedule for any month so far this year!
Never understood the point of "code in box". If you're a digital gamer, what's the point of an empty box lying around? If you're a physical gamer, what's the point of an empty box? Except for maybe a free spare case.
Pre-ordered that Kirby controller already. Is this the first time Kirby gets console controllers? Amazing!
I like those new 8bitdo lite 2 controllers.
And for games: Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Luckily there’s nothing I’m interested in.
@samuelvictor They're all new 'Code in Box' versions, so I know they won't be to everyone's tastes, but collectors might still want to know that different versions are launching 🙂
@ryancraddock Ohhh.... eesh that sucks. Whats the point when the standard physical versions already exist? Oh well, only serves to make my current versions more valuable I suppose!
Every time I see that Xenoblade 3 banner I get goosebumps.
Why do days last this long? 😫
@Yas agreed.
Even more so when all those Lego games, can be bought with the actual cartridges in the case, making it extra pointless.
Klonoa is the one from the list I'm most excited about. Live a Live I will buy or not depending on how much I enjoy the demo. I do think Xenoblade looks gorgeous, but I've never tried the series and am not really sure if it is my type of game, so I wish there were a demo to try.
What about Pac-Man World Re-Pac, doesn't that come out in August?
Anyways, the games I'll most likely get at some point...
Bugsnax (maybe for my oldest kid)
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series
Pac-Man World Re-Pac
Pocky & Rocky Reshrined
TMNT: Shredder's Revenge

I think we have different definitions of objective, because the next couple of months look stacked for the switch.
Xenoblade is all I need for the next few months. But Live a Live, Dying Light Definitive(glad I haven't picked up the plat. edition yet), Klonoa, TMNT(physical) and Digimon are also on my wishlist.
Live a live and Xeno 3 for me, pretty good month!
Xenoblade 3 is the big one for me for both this month and the whole year! That being said, I'll pick up Live A Live at some point as well, just not day one because I wouldn't have time to play it with Xenoblade coming just a week later. A few of those other releases are also ones that have my attention, though I'm probably going to try to not pick anything up for a while just so I don't add to my backlog prior to Xenoblade.
@Yas It's pretty much just to be able to get it out on a store shelf for the sake of visibility. The people who frequent websites like this probably wouldn't care, but a parent or grandparent might see a Lego game on a shelf and think their child/grandchild would want it. Same reason why you get games like that one NBA 2K entry where they had 1GB of the game on the cart and the rest was a download, it's just an easier way to get the average person's attention.
Looks Like I need to get some JPN Eshop cards...
Kinda strange for Nintendo to be releasing both Live A Live & Xenoblade 3 so close to each other. Especially with both being in the same genre as RPGs- albeit holding different appeals one could argue… still, I doubt fans would buy both at release. Interesting decision. If sales aren’t up to expectations for either, I hope Nintendo/Square take that into account!
Regardless, the more RPG’s on Switch the merrier! I hope it all works out!
… Wun can only hope.
I think the accessibility controller 8bitdo is releasing is a cool idea and deserves support, so I ordered one. The description says it was designed in partnership with the community, and it looks intended as a less expensive option than the controller Microsoft released a couple years ago (which in itself was cool). I saw some stories on other sites but for what it’s worth I think it would be cool to have a story about it here on Nintendo Life.
wuhappen to front mission?
Klonoa, Live a Live, XC3 and Pac-Man World. May was very clearly the calm before the storm as both June and July were extremely packed.
@iLikeUrAttitude I'm still trying to beat Animal Crossing. It's like the game never ends.
No games for me in July. My next 2 games are:
And that´s all this year!
@Yas People who say that they collect physical to preserve games doesn't know anything about preservation. Physical hardware becomes obsolete, and difficult to repair over long periods of time. Digital IS the best preservation method. Look at M.A.M.E., the whole point is that the hardware is nearly impossible to find. So the games are preserved digitally--playable on any hardware. It's very possible that Nintendo drops physical games for their next system given the limited space in portable hardware.
@Rykdrew You don't ever pick up cheap $.099 to $5.99 games?
@Mr_Gamecube
Thanks a lot for the info!
@Friendly Yeah. It looks to me like they are planning on putting out the Switch 2 next year also. I don’t think they can hold back the next 3d Mario and Mario Kart too much longer. It’s looking like Nintendo may not release Bayonetta 3 this year also.
Sunbreak, X3, Persona, Nier… I’m set for all 2022.
The rest of the year is a barren desert for me personally.
OH EM GEE I CAN'T WAIT FOR my copy of Chickip Dancers: Norinori Dance de Kokoro mo Odoru to show up!!!!!! Also, Xenoblade 3 I guess or whatever.
@thinkhector I just have many games to play. I don´t have time to play many games and i like to play each game a lot. I just buy a game when i know i´ll play it soon!
