Today brings us the release of art of rally on Switch (the lower case is the developer's choice, fair enough!), which is another high-quality download offering to consider. The release on Nintendo's little system (along with Xbox consoles) includes all previous DLC including the new Kenya addition, which also features in the nifty launch trailer above.
It's a game we've had our eye on since its Switch version was confirmed, especially as it's been so well received in its original PC guise. Below are the official details on what to expect (along with information on the Kenya DLC).
- Progress through the golden years of rally in Career Mode
- 61 iconic rally cars from the 60s to the 90’s, Group B, Group S, Group A
- 60 rally stages in Finland, Sardinia, Norway, Japan and Germany
- Daily and weekly challenges with leaderboards
- Photo and Replay mode for sharing screenshots
- Ghost racing: Push your limits and chase your own best scoresAbout the Kenya Update:
- 6 new challenging stages in breathtaking locations, including Mount Kenya and Lake Victoria
- 1 free-roaming map to chill under the African sky
- 4 new cars, vroom
- 2 new songs
- Zebras, giraffes, elephants!!!!!
Are you planning to pick this up on the Switch eShop today?

I can't wait, I've played a bit of the PC version but I feel it will be the perfect fit for the Switch, the soundtrack is awesome.
Only played for a little while, but I have a feeling this game is special.
Most racers steer into sim, “extreme”, or arcade sensibilities, and I think this is the first “zen” racing game, which rally racing lends itself to really well. A ton of love and reverence for the sport as well... not some goofy take at all.
Playing on PC and I anticipate performance issues on Switch... I’m getting frame rate drops in wooded areas... wait for reviews but keep an eye on this one!
This is one of my most anticipated games. I hope it’s good!
This looks fantastic! I am getting some Horizon Chase vibes.
But this is not the rally game that was previewed a couple of months ago? What was that game? The dev worked on previous racing games? Does anyone know what I am talking about?
I do plan on picking this up, I've been looking forward to it. Another quality looking top down racer, Rush Rally Origins releases next week. I'll be buying that too.
I highly recommend Mini Motor Racing X if you see it on sale. A far better game than Nintendolife's 6/10 suggests it is, 😉
60 stages sounds far too many. Less stages, better designed is preferable. Look at Sega Rally on the Saturn - four tracks only and each are perfection.
I'll reserve final judgement until I've played it through of course.
@dugan Rush Rally Origins by Brownmonster Games. It releases next Thursday. It's cheap too, $6.99. It should be really good. The developer of it was the guy who done the physics for Sonic Racing Transformed, Colin Mcrae and a few other notable racing games. He knows his stuff.
@RichyM A pity the Switch version doesn't seem to have all the graphical niceties of the PC version (especially the crowds). Fortunately I'm more used to the Mac version anyway, which doesn't have those either.
@OorWullie Perhaps the most relevant other one being Rush Rally 3 for Switch, which is also really good.
@OorWullie @dugan
I wasn’t aware we were getting another Rush Rally so soon! RR3 is beyond good so now this new one’s on my radar too, thanks!
Wow between Art of Rally, Axiom Verge 2, and now RR Origins… my wallet is steaming tears.
I'm hyped for this one. Hopefully they've pared back the graphics enough to lock at 60fps while still being art of rally. I've loved Absolute Drift on Switch, so hopes are high : )
Based on Youtube videos that are encoded at 60fps this game looks to he running at a paltry 30fps on Switch. Unfortunate, as I would've dearly loved having this game on Switch for smooth TV and handheld play. For those who don't care about 30fps vs 60fps it does look good, so enjoy! The music, graphics, and gameplay look so good I'll have to get this for some other machine I own. Looks super chill and fun.
@OorWullie That's it! Thank you!
I’ve been looking forward to this game, but I’m nervous about the graphical downgrades on Switch. From what I’ve seen, the grass has been removed, along with lots of trees, and pop-in looks distracting. The devs are active on Reddit and say they are working on a patch, but I’m going to wait a bit for that or some reviews. Fingers crossed though.
Instabuy once it hits 70% off since it's been downgraded so much.
