Re: Feature: Our Top 10 Third-Party 3DS Games - Summer 2013

Rhythm Thief #1? YOU JUST MADE MY DAY! For all the uncultured troglodytes out there, let me assure you that an evening at the Louvre with the Rhythm Thief will be a life-changing experience. This is simply the classiest gem to ever smack your sad little Nintendo 3DS in its sad little face.

Seriously? Seriously. Phantom R absolutely schools Professor Layton in gentlemanliness every day of the week. And at the very least, it's prime training for the musical adventure that is HarmoKnight.

And Theatrhythm? Eat your tone-deaf rhythmless heart out.

@Roachant You can redownload software as many times as you have SD cards. So, for something like Animal Crossing: New Leaf... that means infinite towns! In general, Animal Crossing is the kind of game where you want download over retail.

What I'm concerned about is that, even though New Leaf adds SO much to Animal Crossing, it doesn't do a single thing to correct any of the hundred flaws City Folk brought in. But... maybe being off the TV will help mitigate how City Folk was physically painfully slow compared to Wild World.

Holy wow, Nintendo! With these sales I'll be downloading Liberation Maiden AND Fluidity: Spin Cycle! And I might even pick up at least one Nano Assault game. ... And Super Metroid for the 30-cent sale! They're not holding anything back...

Re: Talking Point: Fire Emblem: Awakening - The Big Casual Mode Debate

For the first time ever, I'm playing a Fire Emblem game with no resets (Sacred Stones). It helps that my Vanessa somehow got 12 defense by level 10, but it's actually really fun. After losing some of the characters I use every time I play, it really has made me care more about them! I definitely recommend playing "real" Fire Emblem when playing for fun once you've gotten the hang of things.

Re: Rhythm Hunter: HarmoKnight's US Price Is Revealed

Ooh... this rhythm thief's a little bummed out. But regardless of what OTHER games go for, I know I'll log many fun hours on Harmoknight, and I don't mind paying a little more for quality. (Hear that? Go out and buy the most expensive copy of Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure you can find!)

@shinokami "Not only that but video game prices have skyrocketed since the early 2000's."

Funny you should say that... because, if you do the math and account for inflation, the prices of video games have actually TANKED. They're dirt cheap compared to what they used to cost. Some SNES games, for example, would run you a converted $130+.

@SpecialHam

So you're saying we should work only on our biggest problems and ignore all the other ones? The fact is, piracy destroys industries and something MUST be done about it. The fines ARE excessively punishing, but that's because we need to set an example for pirates out there--make them understand how much damage they're causing, not individually, but as a group.

I may be an art thief, but everything you steal has to be paid for by someone who did nothing wrong.
